  1. He's just a really nice old guy. He has lived on that property all his life. I stopped there 25nyears ago and watched him and his dad plow with a mule one day. Freebird knows him better than I do. Maybe he will chime in and help you get to know W/M.
  2. Goober, you've got this so effed up I can't tell which damn dam everyone is talking about. I have two I need to go check one last time before dark. We need the rain to stop or we will lose all these earthen dams.
  3. I believe it. Both of our ponds ran over the dam. I have seen them do that before 15 years ago but they were at or near full pool when the rain started. They were a couple of feet below full when this started. I had some of the best looking turnip greens and collard greens I have ever grown and they are all gone along with about a foot of topsoil. My raised beds held up well so I guess I am going to go back to using only them. I have vacuumed about 70 gallons of water out of my basement that came in through the power company's underground conduit. But no major losses. All the a
  4. Forrest Gump: One day it started raining, and it didn't quit for four months. We been through every kind of rain there is. Little bitty stingin' rain... and big ol' fat rain. Rain that flew in sideways. And sometimes rain even seemed to come straight up from underneath.
  5. I want to see that one enforced.
  6. What is even funnier is that people that have no control or authority over anything else in their lives seem to always be the ones trying to make a statement out on the highway.
  7. And in some cases that is absolutely ridiculous.
  8. Grilled chicken with homemade jerk rub, homegrown okra, homegrown tomatoes, homegrown hot peppers, butter peas, yeast rolls.
  9. I helped build and still do some maintenance on the Panda display. The most amazing thing about a Panda is there poop. Talk about fiber.... The have bamboo splinters 6 inches long coming through them. Looks painful.

New asphalt? Hey! Was it Jo Jo?
  11. I bought a used table saw from a guy in Dallas that I found on Craigs List for $90. Not much of a saw but it worked to put laminate in my daughters house. Also, the flooring goes down pretty quick. I had a ton of work to do on my sub flooring before I could start. Check for level because neither laminate or hardwood will go down on an out of level sub floor. And when you get them in I can tell you that Mr. Clean makes a cleaner that is the best thing we have found so far. Cleans without streaking and without towel drying.
  12. I put down some laminate almost 10 years ago. It is almost indestructible. We put it down to get a couple of years service out of it and it still looks decent. It has a few scratches here and there but overall it is still okay. Dogs claws will not touch this stuff. Dog pee could be a problem. It's a pretty tough job but I replaced all the base and a lot of the molding in the house at the same time so I it took me about four weeks to do it all. I would be looking for a cheap table saw to rip the stuff with if you don't have one. Get you some good knee pads and a bottle of Ibup
  13. I saw them many times from just after they moved to Muscle Shoals until the Rowdy Friends Tour they did with Jr a few years back. It's hard to imagine how much good southern rock was in one band when Ronnie Van Sant, Allen Collins, Gary Rossington, Leon Wilkeson, Artimus Pyle and Billy Powell made up the group. I think I need a beer and a Bic lighter. FREEBIRD!!!!!!
  14. Yep. One of my favorites is Four walls of Raiford.
  15. Thanks. L/S has been my music all my teenage and adult life but I never knew (or maybe I have forgotten) that Medlocke was a drummer for them. One of my favorite songs of all time was written by his grandfather. Train Train
  16. I bought one at Best Buy a couple of months ago for about $500. It is a Dell and was cheaper than I could by it from Dell on line. You just have to be willing to say NO to all the extra charges Best Buy tries to charge you for. Pay attention to which box you pick up because some of them already have a $49.00 extra built in that you don't need. If MicroCenter has on for $300 that might not be too bad either.
  17. So is Gary Rossington the only original member left? Just checked and the answer is yes. He is the only original member left. The only thing close to original that is still alive is Artimus Pyle, the drummer that survived the plane crash. He joined the band in 1974. Southern Rock is rough on a soul. When I was in high school L/S used to do shows in Mableton. Good ol days.
  18. You just need to call the county tax office to verify that they sent your mortgage company a copy of the bill. I would also call the mortgage company since they are new to you and verify that they received (and will be paying) the taxes. If Bank of America bought your mortgage they should have also taken possession of the escrow account. Make a few calls to verify.
  19. Have you tried buying a new antenna? I have heard of this fixing the problem.
  20. Bullcheeze! After this thread I would say the dry spell was due to Joe hoarding it all for himself.
  21. Gee Joe, I think your excruciatingly long exit speech was kind of like peeing in a pair of dark pants. It gave YOU a nice warm feeling but nobody noticed.
  22. In 2005 my property tax was $6,061.00. This year the property tax on that same property is $11,739.00. That's a 93% increase and that took place during Jerry Shearin's reign of error. I don't know many people who had a 93% increase in salary in the last four years. But look at all the services we get for that 93% increase! How about that huge decrease in homeowners insurance that everyone was preaching during the fire tax vote?
