  1. Farmer John was injured when a truck hit his pick-up, and he filed a lawsuit against the driver who hit him. When the case went to trial, the truck driver's big city lawyer questioned farmer John."After the accident, did you not say to the sheriff's deputy, 'I'm fine'?" asked the lawyer. Farmer John answered, "Well I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded my favorite mule Bessie into the...." "I did not ask you about your mule," the lawyer interrupted, "I asked you about your statement to the sheriff's deputy. Did you not say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine'?" Far
  2. One's that I have heard: Instead of Kohl's it was Kozes. Maxham Road was Maximum Road. Doesn't bother me, I think it's funny as hell.
  3. Sam's has steaks as good as any I have tried and it's way more convenient than fighting my way through Hiram traffic to get to the meat place. I bought a whole rib eye, wrapped it in cheese cloth and put in my basement refrigerator for 10 days. Change the cheese cloth about every two or three days. Slice this into steaks about 1-1/2" inches thick and grill 'em over charcoal. Melt in your mouth.
  4. I was talking about recipes to make your own. Doesn't look too difficult but I wouldn't use regular kerosene.
  5. Lamp oil is a cleaned up version of kerosene. Regular kerosene is going to smoke and stink. I am seeing a lot of recipes for lamp oil made with 91% isopropyl alcohol. Google lamp oil.
  6. You should find an antique jewelry dealer. I wouldn't sell jewelry for the same price as scrap gold.
  7. If you haven't already sit down with an attorney and see if there are any other options. My motto is the only thing more expensive than an attorney is not having an attorney.
  8. By doing what you have done you have made it possible for your mother to get into an assisted care facility or nursing home without having to hand over her house and property to the government. There is or was a certain number of years that you would have to be the legal owner of the house to be able to do this. The down side is you won't get any tax breaks until you are 65 or 70 and you also have to be living in the house. This is what my sister and I did and believe me, it is the right way to go. I would still spend $400 or $500 and talk to an attorney about it. The laws are
  9. I know. I should have said property instead of house.
  10. Do they know you can dance on your toes?
  11. My honest opinion is that there are still a lot of families in Paulding that do not insist that their kids get a college education. Crap, go to the high school graduations and listen to the people scream and cheer. Hell, you'd thought Bubba had just graduated from Emory School of Law. These folks are just waiting to get that H/S diploma and deddy is going to get them on where he works. They will do just enough to get by and the SAT is a multiple guess for them. This doesn't give an honest measure of how good the good students are. Just to add, I don't think it is money or a l
  12. The house that is now Travis Tritt's house was the Wallace's house. The reason the plane landed in Ware County was because they tried to push the toolbox with the body in it out of the plane over the Okefenokee Swamp but realized they couldn't do it with the door on the plane. They were landing to take the door of and a Ware County deputy spotted the plane landing with no lights. This was back in the height of the cocaine smuggling days so the deputy was sure he had caught a plane load of coke.
  13. The tests scores are an average score of all the students in the school system. I'm not sure if you have noticed, but you can go into any Walmart parking lot in Paulding County and sit for two hours and you will have your answer. Paulding has always been blessed with an abundance of tobacco chewing, snuff dipping, rebel flag flying out of the back of their 4 wheel drive pick up (and another one in front of their trailer) high school kids whose only concern is deer hunting and going muddin. And then there are the boys.
  14. You should have been getting a partial exemption (50% I think) since age 65 if you are in Paulding. You guys need to go to the Tax Commissioners office and see what all you can get rid of. Don't give them any more than you just have to. They are just going to pi$$ it away anyhow.
  15. Get an attorney to do this for you. It could have stayed in her name and you should have just has power of attorney (I think). For the cost of one year of school tax you can probably get it fixed.
  16. I think I mentioned this before but Air and Space has simulators for different airplanes including fighter jets. You take everything out of your pockets and put them in a safe, strap in and you are in a dog fight in a few seconds.
  17. Some people like that, personally I prefer to just wander around and find little things that you would miss on a guided tour. Either way, DC is a great place to spend a few days.
  18. Smoking is in, I am out. That is one stupid habit right there. And it makes everyone around them stink as bad as they do.
  19. Depends on what you're into but the National Air and Space Museum is a must for me. My wife loves the Natural History. BTW, when you say you only have the Smithsonian on your list you have over loaded your weekend. You will have to decide on specific topics. It would take a week or more just to glance through the entire Smithsonian. Don't forget to eat at Chevy's Mexican Restaurant. The Korean War Memorial was my favorite for the war memorials. On a day like today it would really be eerie. http://www.nab.usace.army.mil/projects/Was...nDC/korean.html
  20. This is why I could not live in a subdivision. Well, this and the fact that I can't pee in the yard.
  21. Silly ass rule if you ask me.
