  1. I thought that the OP was discussing how impressive it was that these people were working hard to better themselves and their children. That is something sorely lacking in many American families. I didn't see the original post as stating that they shouldn't strive to learn more. My posts were in regards to people saying, "Learn the language!" Yeah, it's not that easy, you don't just wake up one morning fluently speaking a foreign language. It's ignorant to assume that someone who doesn't choose English as their first language, is not attempting to learn. Oh, and FYI...I'm
  2. That is why I always try to employ the kids in my neighborhood. If they have the gumption to ask, I'll find a task for them.
  3. Are you serious? Yeah, it's a vast Spanish-speaking conspiracy to take over the US. Get a grip.
  4. Good on them for learning and bringing their children with them. I'm attempting to learn Spanish right now, and it is FAR from easy to learn a new language. It irks me to no end when I hear someone say "You come to this country, you learn the language." As *if* it's that simple!!!! I'm fortunate that I have the resources to help me learn the language, but I still watch tv with Spanish captions to help me along. I have often wanted to practice my Spanish with someone who knows the language. But as of yet, I'm too embarassed to try. Someday I'll get there. I can only imagine how it
  5. Especially when they had someone else do all the work for them
  6. I caught the very end of it. I always wonder, do they keep their house clean months afterward or do they revert to their old ways.
  7. That doesn't sound that crazy to me. It's a nice house, with 4 bedrooms.
  8. The sound is more annoying than a regular bark. And sad.
  9. Hey, you an have a dog de-barked, why not remove their teeth too?
  10. I've come to the conclusion that there is a shortage of full length mirrors.
  11. My cat was declawed 19 years ago, and she still walks with an occasional limp. I'd never, ever do it again...but back them, I was young and was forced by a parent to have it done. Your dog will learn not to get too close if he gets scratched hard enough. It's cruel to declaw a cat, IMO I was very reserved with my response, although I'm sure others won't be as kind. Google is your friend. Research it and you willfind alternatives. Start here http://www.declawing.com/
  12. No shiznit. What's the relevance?
  13. Must have been smaller planes and they used one gate. I've been on flights like this, and they can be confusing. In fact, the last time, two people exited when they realized they were on the wrong flight.
  14. Dangit. Looks like I'm not taking the car for a spin today. And I spent hours yesterday making her pretty.
  15. Eh, I just go to Barnes and Noble at The Avenue. That way I can avoid the crappy Hiram traffic. Most of the time I end up buying off their website anyway.
  16. Looks like it isn't a done deal yet... http://www.macon.com/206/story/730778.html
  17. There was a bus trapped off Graham Rd. for hours today. A few seconds sooner and they would have been hit by the falling tree.
  18. It's a political cartoon, geez, get over it. They are meant to evoke thought and emotion.
  19. I went by there, it did look like an ambulance was involved but I didn't want to cause another wreck by gawking at them. Red Cross could also be for the dependant of someone in the military. They will contact the servicemember in the event something happens to their loved one's stateside.
  20. Wow, it's scary how many roads they are saying are solid ice or virtually impassable.
  21. We have one and we absolutely LOVE it!!! After 15 minutes on that thing, I feel like a new person.
  22. I believe the Red Dogs are the only Cobra Squadron in the area. I saw it as well, flew right over my house.
  23. The boys are in plenty of trouble. Hello, they were all arrested. I just don't see how it warranted 9 cars for over 4 hours with the majority of them doing nothing. Wasn't there anything else going on in Paulding County that they could be handling? I don't remember now what the black one was, but I think it was "DUI task Force" on the side. Although I could be wrong.
  24. It was some young boys shooting a gun in the woods behind their house. The police found the gun after about 4 hours and arrested the juveniles. No biggie really considering I hear gunshots all the time from one direction or another. In fact, I couldn't believe the waste of time and effort put into the entire thing. They really didn't need that many officers (was 9 cars total) to include K9. The majority were standing around doing nada, while the detectives seemed to have done the majority of the legwork.
