  1. Thank you, sir. I am certainly trying! My best friend since childhood (also happens to be my second mechanic) lost his job too from disability issues, working with heavy equipment, so we are BOTH trying to survive together in the same shop. Sharing work makes less money for me, but I feel blessed to have been able to offer him a way to keep a roof over his head too. Not to mention, he's the smartest mechanic I have ever known. If we can keep our chins up long enough, I still believe that we'll make it okay...or at least survive. A nice RAINY week would certainly pick things up! Plus, I am
  2. Good Morning to everyone!!! I hope things pick up, or I'm going fishing this evening!
  3. In my business, it's pretty clear to see that the official numbers are not inclusive of many factors. My business is slower than it's been in a couple of years, mainly because people (including regular customers) have much less money, either through having lost their jobs since last year, as well as many who have had their hours cut back to ridiculous measures. Then there are millions of 99'ers like myself, who have long ago exhausted their UE, and still can't find work. Plenty of work is out there if you are young with no family and can survive on min. wage. It's the older, more experienc
  4. Basically, just keep your old bills that show your normal usage. That should be enough proof to tell if the new radio-read meters are gauging the same way. They have been installing radio-read WATER meters for a pretty good while (several years), so that's all I'm really familiar with.
  5. While that's true, the foreclosures and short-sales are just getting warmed up. I know several people who are making a LOT of money buying up these homes for peanuts on the dollar, then rent them for a bundle. This will be the norm for a LONG time to come. And many of the "new" homes that never sold a few years ago are getting eat up with termites.
  6. We're ready!! Bring it on. I've got a 30 yr.+ veteran welder with a really nice MIG.
  7. I will be picking up broken down mowers and other yard equipment the rest of this week, and next. So, if you want to get these things off your property, please give me a call to set up a pick up time. Please include make and model of machine and if tires need to be inflated (on riding mowers). Thank you! Glenn - 678-315-8794
  8. Wow!!!! My wife just happens to be off this week, too!!! Wheew!

  12. Not to divulge too much info, but I don't make squat like I used to. But not having to drive too much is money in the bank. It's costing my wife a small fortune to drive to the Marietta Square, five days a week! What's so sad is that so many people have to do this, plus having their hours cut back, furloughs, etc. and the only reason they're even making the drive is so they can have health insurance. Now that I am out from behind the desk and meeting people every day, you can actually see the DIGRESSION in our society. It's good to see so many people keep their chins up, and try to endure,
  13. I have been told by SEVERAL people that when the new meters were installed, their bill went up too....conspicuously higher. We are now being POUNCED upon by our own electric company. I'm all ears to a significant idea in voicing our concerns, and basically calling this what it is- HEARTLESS, IRRESPONSIBLE, EXPLOITING THE PEOPLE WHO DEPEND ON ELECTRICITY, GUILTY OF MASSIVE COUNTS OF BILLING ERRORS, INVOLVING CUT-OFFS, and the list goes on...and I'm sure it will get worse. FIVE percent tacked on to your bill if it takes you a few days to pay it in full. So, if they couldn't BURY you the fir
  14. I would second that!! He set me up with a nice shop computer, that has been saving my butt all this year!
  15. I'm curious as to why you wouldn't just call?
  16. Yeah, yeah! I've grown so comfortable walking around talking to neighbors, that I think I'll just spend my evening here at home with the dog. A splash of cologne and some spray-on DEO, and I'm good to go. Besides, I don't have the money to go out dancing...unless the other person is buying!
  17. I want to shower this evening and go out dancing!!
  18. I'm going to look into this, and see what kind of recourse (we, the people) have. And BTW, folks, I am not the least bit worried about where the topic went. I would think this topic would suffice, just fine.
  19. No, but thanks for the link. You can bet I certainly will!
  20. I'm not sure where the topic is, but I figured the follow story should let people know that the power company now has us all my our privates, and they are squeezing hard!
  21. Well, here's the follow up story, folks! I DROVE to the Greystone place. The cashier didn't know much about anything, so she wanted me to wait in line to talk to someone who did. Basically, they give you a (gray-area), as to not turn you off on the due date, and they no longer offer a certain amount you can pay to stop the disconnect. Now, get this- They agreed to let me pay it a few days late (must be the FULL amount), then they will charge you 5% on your next bill for being late. Now, tell me that don't suck. I HATE monopolies. They own us, folks. Simple as that.
  22. These are really nice mowers, and $150 OBO is a good price for one, too. Sports a 6.75 HP Briggs OHV engine, 21" cut with new blade, rebuilt carb, new fuel line, filter, etc. These are the most dependable front wheel drive units I have ever worked on. Very simple design, with very little to go wrong. $150 OBO, cash takes it. First Come, first serve. The mower will be ready in about 2 more hours. (We are installing new gears for the wheel drive.)
