  1. Yes, declawing is very cruel because basically it cuts off the claw at the point of the first knuckle. How would you feel if someone cut your finger nails off but did so by cutting off the ends of your fingers up to your first knuckle? I am shocked that some cats still trust their owners after that!
  2. All the other suggestions are great, but get her blood work and immunizations done ASAP at a vet so that you can let her out of the bedroom! She has all that energy pent up from being alone in there. Also, a vet will probably not do a spay on her without vaccinations. We trained our 4 adult cats (7 yrs-13+ yrs old)from "no-no's" with the water bottle. While they are very well behaved, we STILL use the water bottle on occasion. We use a stream instead of a mist, however, our 4 are adult cats and the stream doesn't have enough pressure to hurt them especially from a distance. They just hate
  3. BTW, each county's weather information page is updated HOURLY by the NWS.
  4. The National Weather Service changed Cobb, Paulding and Haralson counties to a Winter Storm WARNING at 3:38am EST. The fact that the Sheriff's Dept didn't issue their Nixle alert until after 9am and the Paulding BOE didn't cancel school at that point is because they had a flaw somewhere in checking up on this information, then getting it sent out to citizens. I was checking hourly during the night from the National Weather Service's Peachtree City location link. All of our watches and warnings for GA come out of the Peachtree City location. Here is the link. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ffc/ All y
  5. I guess from now on when I see a new weather warning for Paulding I will just create a new topic on P.com. Yes, this is 1982 all over again! It is tricky figuring out just how the moisture will flow up from the gulf timed with an arctic front coming in.
  6. I was up all night Monday night into Tuesday morning watching the reports from the National Weather Service. At around 4am I posted in the P.com thread here http://paulding.com/forum/index.php/topic/307401-winter-weather-watch-issued-for-tuesday/page__pid__3879079__st__40#entry3879079 the full weather WARNING for Paulding, Cobb and Haralson counties. The National Weather Service released it at 3:38am!
  7. As of 3:38 am Paulding, Cobb and Haralson are now under a Winter Storm WARNING. One weather related site I am watching says it may start as early as 4:30 am for our area. Here is the link for the National Weather Service office in Peachtree City. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ffc/ <br /><br />Winter Storm Warning URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA 338 AM EST TUE JAN 28 2014 GAZ025-027-031&gt;035-041&gt;045-282100- /O.UPG.KFFC.WW.Y.0005.140128T1500Z-140129T1200Z/ /O.EXB.KFFC.WS.W.0001.140128T1400Z-140129T1200Z/ JACKSON-MADISON-PAULDING
  8. There is another one that is through Greystone Power that you could check into.
  9. Here is Part 1 of the interview with Janice-Marie Johnson, who is the lead singer and bass player for A Taste of Honey. This interview is recent for Ladies Behind the Beat and she tells how the song Boogie Oogie Oogie came about.
  10. A Taste of Honey with Boogie Ooogie Oogie. These women were singing and playing at once. The lead singer is playing bass. I watched an interview with her on Youtube last night. She is a grandmother in her 60s and still looks great, still playing her music and she swears she thinks she can play just about anything with strings. I was a little girl when their music was very popular, so I didn't know her background back then, but I haven't been this impressed with an artist in a long time.
  11. <br /><br /><br />HWAM that is awesome! I wonder if the band is still together and perform?
  12. Last but not least... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOpUfTi1keI&list=RD7SxqJsYFL-Q
  13. You Dropped A Bomb on Me was a great song for roller skating. It came out in the early 80s. Here is another one I really like from that era. Keyboards and cowbells! BTW, from what I understand SOS is a band from Atlanta. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rq_pJDVrVoQ For some reason this was one of my favorites back then. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kU9faERbno0
  14. <br /><br /><br />I ordered a new Dell laptop over a year ago and Windows 7 could not be ordered for an OS, only Windows 8. I am seeing the same thing in retail stores, unless the computer is an older model or using an OS other than Microsoft.
  15. These days every new computer you can buy will be running Windows 8 if it is running a MicroSoft operating system. I am not ready for Windows 8.
  16. I LOVE Justified! It came back on over a week ago. My husband gave me all the DVDs last year and he gave me the newest season on DVD for Christmas 13'. Of course we are both also looking forward to the return of The Walking Dead. A couple more of my favorites are American Horror Story and Lt. Joe Kenda, Homicide Hunter.
  17. The National Weather Service office out of Peachtree City. You can look up a local forecast by city name, zip code or click on the Georgia map. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ffc/ Here is the main link for the National Weather Service nationwide. http://www.weather.gov/ Save them in your browser and USE them. I quit using any weather service other than the NWS or WSB-TV about a decade ago. To me they are the closest in accuracy and most local forecasters will go by what the NWS is forecasting. Why not get your weather notices straight from the NWS in the first place?
  18. I've been doing this for 2 years and storing them in plastic totes. The new bulbs give me headaches and one exploded over my head. It not only rained glass down on me, but something powdery that I also breathed. I am told they contain mercury.
  19. Send me a list of who NOT to use please! It's looking like sometime in the next year or two we will put our current home up for sale and build another. Yes, I do mean build from scratch. I am going to need something that is more "friendly" for my future needs. I am sure we will stay in the West Ga area, although we are beginning to be less sure about Paulding. I have been getting really PO'd the past few years about how our (and my family's) tax dollars are being spent.
  20. Ahhh I see. Ok. It makes no difference to me personally, but everyone was of course talking in the stores. Tuesday morning is when the low is supposed to be between 4-7 degrees F'. Maybe they think it is too cold for the kids because of the frostbite danger? I agree with that.
  21. I left Publix about 8pm and someone said that Carroll has already announced closing for their schools in the morning.
  22. It may be in the 20s tonight, but Monday night our temp will be 8! Yes, that is 8 degrees F'! I have read that in some areas of North Georgia the wind chills will hit -30. Please take good care of all the animals, even the feral ones, if you can.
  23. Two words: WATER RESERVOIR!
  24. Another option might be a one way rental from Hertz or Enterprise. Pick up a car locally (or have Enterprise deliver a car to you), drive to the airport and drop it off at the airport.
