  1. H1N1 (swine flu) has already been confirmed in 2 GA elementry school children today. It was announced on the evening news. The CDC is also no longer recommending that the schools be closed when any cases are confirmed. Good luck finding antibacterial Kleenex in the large boxes because I have had trouble finding them for 2 years now. You can find the small ones at Dallas Walmart.
  2. I did this exact same thing in 1998 and graduated from Carroll Tech. They paid my unemployment each week, all I needed was ONE of my instructors to sign a weekly form stating that I had been in class. In addition to this the Hope Grant paid all of my tuition and most of my books. It was really tight, I had to give up my apartment and find a really cheap roommate, but I did it. Yes, it was also on the recommendation of my unemployment counselor who also did the same herself at one point in her life. I did not wait until my unemployment was exhausted though. I started school within a few weeks o
  3. THAT was hurricane OPAL when it hit in NW Georgia. I lived in a totally electric apartment unit in Dallas, so I went to stay with a friend who had a home with a basement in Cartersville. It was horrible. I was awake all night listening for tornados and falling trees. There was so much rain that it made the ground soft, then the 70 mph winds blew the trees right over, and of course many of them went into houses or power lines. There were a few tornados also reported. The next day I called into work which was off of Franklin Rd in Marietta (near Delk) and drove home that afternoon back to Dallas
  4. The First 48, 48 Hours, Dr. G Medical Examiner, The Investigators, Forensic Files and the shows on the ID channel are all good forensic shows. I am watching Scene of the Crime on the ID channel right now.
  5. Don't be so naive! Do not believe or trust EVERYTHING that EVERYONE tells you or believe that everyone in the world is good hearted.
  6. This is why I like Acuvue. Even the ones that are not made for an eye color change have a very very light blue in them so that you can see them as you are putting them in. Just enough tint to see the contact but not change your eye color. They also have a UV screen in them. I've worn them for about 15 years and wore glasses for 13 years before getting contacts. When changing contacts I use blink n clean eye drops in my eyes and a contact rinse on the contacts before placing them in my eyes. Also a small standing counter top mirror helps greatly as opposed to the "over the sink" mirror. Make su
  7. Yes ours went up too. We are with Greystone. Ours went from $190 to $320, after taxes. The same time last year we were 6.52/day now we are 9.05/day. We are not totally electric. Heating, cooking and hot water are gas.
  8. My grandmother use to eat peanut butter and banana sandwiches with Miracle Whip on them. She would also take one of her hot buttery biscuits and put a thick slice of onion in it. She and I frequently would sit in the dark watching tv and eat banana peppers, bell peppers (both fresh from her garden) or yellow delicious apples, all with salt. I grew up eating ketchup on pintos with buttermilk cornbread, raw onions on the side and whole milk, still eat them that way sometimes. I also grew up eating banana sandwiches with miracle whip. I still love them with ruffles chips on the side. A FEW t
  9. Yes sir! You be careful working and driving home.
  10. I hope he isn't having nightmares or anything serious going on. Guys I need to take my meds and try to relax, I am getting a headache. It has been wonderful talking with you both tonight. Stay safe & sweet dreams.
  11. Thank you GLW. Maybe you could try some children's benadryl or sleepy time tea to help your son sleep? I use to be friends with someone who has 5 children and her pediatrician told her she could use the tea with the children who could not sleep or stay asleep, all the way down to 1 year old! I was surprised, but she said it worked. Of course a little sugar or honey would need to be added but I bet it would be good mixed with fruit juice too. HP's last posting was moved to Paulding Place forum. I just looked at it and Tow said he was leaving too! GLW I said it in another post but wil
  12. I PM'd HP when I seen his last post. He just said he was tired of the BS and felt it was time to leave. He didn't say anything specific. I exchanged email addresses with him and hope he keeps in touch.
  13. I have taken Ambien every night for 6+ years. Two years ago my doctor switched me from Ultram to Lyrica for fibro pain so I still take it several times a day. I also have taken an antidepressant for 6+ years, currently it is Cymbalta. As of my 6 month check up with my rheumatologist on Thursday I was placed back on muscle relaxers and fussed at for not finding a physical therapist to help with my hip and back pain. Also I am supposed to be trying to find an arthritis swim class SOMEWHERE, those that I can find are always too far and too early. This is why it takes all my time to fight with thi
  14. Oh that sounds cool! Boy there isn't much that slows you down is there? BTW, Hiya all! IH2D, I've gotten about 7 hours sleep total broken up into 2 sets over about a 2 1/2 day period, so I am right there with you. The heat really aggravates my insomnia and being PO'd at a broken fridge that is only 7 years old doesn't help. I was madder than a hornet the past 2 days.
  15. I was just telling hubby I think we need to buy a small up right freezer during the tax holiday for appliances that is coming up. Anyone have any brand or store advice on these?
  16. Was it 4/9/9 or 4/10/9? We watched the whole storm and didn't think to write down the time and date.
  17. Some of Kennesaw's classes are offered online. This might help if he doesn't want to drive that far.
  18. Yes and Tamiflu has been effective against H1N1. Especially when started within 48 hours of the fever.
  19. They are SUPPOSED to ask and check your date of birth with what they have in their system so that you aren't confused with another person of the same name.
  20. The sprites are the upward lightening that is ABOVE the clouds and can frequently be seen from an airplane. With our new photography advances it is now known that a certain type of lightening will raise up from the ground and meet with the lightening coming from UNDER the clouds. I forget what the lightening charge coming up from the ground is called.
  21. It is not just you, yes it is HOT! According to my doctor I am NOT menopausal, but I have had hot flashes for about 6 years now and take hormones (yes I am also too young). Because of the heat I waited until late last night around 11pm to go to Walmart. By the time I got to the freezer section I was so hot and it was so cool there, I just wanted to lay in the floor and take a nap. For over a week I haven't wanted to do a thing because of the heat. Our livingroom seems to be staying above 77 during the heat of the day even with the central air set at 70! I am about to give in and take a cold bu
  22. It is not known how chicken pox (varicella) came to exist. It is known to be a herpes virus varient. Here is some information http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Chickenpox History One history of medicine book credits Giovanni Filippo (1510–1580) of Palermo with the first description of varicella (chickenpox). Subsequently in the 1600s, an English physician named Richard Morton described what he thought a mild form of smallpox as "chicken pox." Later, in 1767, a physician named William Heberden, also from England, was the first physician to clearly demonstrate that chickenpox was
  23. Well there are angels and devils for halloween, why not a Jesus? I love it!
  24. Peanut butter was invented by an african american man from south Georgia. I can't remember his name. Edit: Here it is! It was George Washington Carver. http://teacher.scholastic.com/activities/b...tors/carver.htm http://www.ask.com/bar?q=who+invented+pean...eanutbutter.htm
