AWOL Muslim soldier arrested near Ft. Hood with bomb materials
lotstodo replied to Georgia Dawg's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Indoctrination into Communism and Hitler's indoctrination of his people were most certainly parallels to religion. The difference was that the mythical all powerful one was of human nature. They all require belief in the absence of proof that their leader is the supreme power, and denunciation of all other beliefs. Look at the images of Stalin, Mao, and Hitler and compare them to those of any God. They have the same impact and are even drawn the same way. In every case you quote, images and quotations of the supreme leader took the direct place of a all religious references. The supreme -

In this regard, yes. I guess also that some folks just haven't noticed that this is how followers of radical Islam wage war. They don't march across open fields in a straight line wearing bright red coats. They blow themselves up taking as many "infedels" as possible with them. There are no innocent "infidels" to the followers of radical Islam. This is no "crazier" than any soldier charging an enemy knowing that it is a suicide mission. To them this is a religious war, just like the scores of other wars started by dozens of other religions to decide who has the best imaginary friend. It -

What is crazy is planting the idea in a person's mind that their imaginary friend in the sky will reward them in the next life, or in heaven, or on a space ship, with eternal life, or 72 virgins, or a higher consciousness. Once they are convinced of that, it is a LOGICAL step to do whatever it takes in this life to achieve that ultimate goal as directed by their spirit guide. Unfortunately, some are told to knock down big buildings and kill soldiers to serve their imaginary friend, and they do it not out of insanity, but in a calculated effort to achieve reward. So you tell me which one soun -
Lets talk about money and the financial markets

I made my final debt ceiling bet a couple of weeks ago. I'm underweight in equities and overweight in bonds, commodities, and cash. Most so called experts agree that this is uncharted territory, but that the market should lose less than 10% on an actual ratings downgrade, and should recover that if earnings don't tank in the 3rd quarter. Nobody I've heard is expecting a bloodbath. But this is a volatile and uncertain time and anything is absolutely possible. As for your direct question about selling Mutual Funds on Monday, remember that mutual funds settle at the close of the business -
I grew up in the 60's, and there were both good and bad things on our plate. There was a political war and racism, but we were changing that. We were being heard for the first time in history and we were making a difference. We were very different from our parents, even though it wasn't always for the better. From the 30's to the 50's teenagers were more like American Graffiti than Easy Rider or Medium Cool. In the late 70's and 80's there was a more fun atmosphere after the war, and kids were less energized except as consumers. The 60's were a unique time to grow up. Maybe not any better,

Don't let the fact that low interest rates are largely what got us into this mess, or the fact that interest rates are substantially controlled (not always correctly) by one man get in the way of a good juicy rationalization for taxing the evil rich. -

Making excuses for admitted terrorists now are we? This is an evil human being, and evil does not equal crazy either legally or practically. Evil exists of it's own accord. In the case of religious terrorism, the terrorist believes that he is serving a higher calling and that his actions will be rewarded in death. This is no "crazier" than the concept of Heaven and Hell, or every war ever started over which side has the "correct" imaginary friend. -
What about $500,000.00 honorariums for speaking engagements? What about $10 million book advances? What about multi-million dollar PAC contributions? Congress doesn't become enriched through Government "perks". They are bought and paid for by the politically connected.

What makes you think he is crazy? He had a beef with the government, and bought some things that could be used for bomb making. The only thing that is relatively certain right now is that it appears that he wasn't going to reload his Hawkin, and that pretty much narrows down the legal uses of smokeless powder. Disappearing also doesn't exactly help his cause or make him look "crazy". -
It may be the banks responsibility to secure the property, but it is to your benefit. I wouldn't wait for the place to go to pot. If it is still unsecured, tape over the drain line openings with furnace tape (not duct tape). Place a piece of slick cardboard face down over the toilet flanges and mush it down into the wax. Close and lock all windows and secure the doors with whatever is available, taking care to secure the front door from the inside so that it is not obvious that the property is vacant. And by all means, keep the front yard cut. This may be a total pain in the butt, and

Right winger takes swipe at socialists in Norway - kills 94 of them
lotstodo replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
A member of the Knights Templar, has killed 93 innocent people in two separate incidents in Norway, including many children attending a youth camp. The shooter has produced a Youtube video and a 1500 page manifesto where he claims to be a member of the Knights Templar, a medieval group of warrior Monks. Apparently the organization has been resurrected, according to the assailant. Perhaps it is time to keep an eye on Monks throughout the world. They must be a dangerous lot is someone claiming affiliation can do such a dastardly deed. -

You wouldn't know that by reading the OP's. One is clearly about political motivation, and one is clearly about a horrific tragedy. -
Really? There are people on this board dense enough to NOT know why Pubby used the term "right winger"? Anarchist, Attacker, Crazed Individual...any number of descriptions would have sufficed. However, none of those terms are commonly used by Americans to describe main stream conservatives here in the US. And nobody caught that? Like I said. Any post by me accusing Left Wingers or better yet Socialists of attacking someone in a foreign land would have gone poof before it could cost this server an single electron.

I love the thought B, but were you to actually post something of that sort, you would only make your home a target by telling the deviants that there were weapons in the home.

I think that LE will tell you that graffiti along with car and house break-ins in a concentrated area are the first sign of gang activity. When we lived in Powder Springs, the entire neighborhood watched for graffiti. We reported it, and WE cleaned it up immediately as a sign to the punks that we were not intimidated. Of course, when two kids got shot breaking into an occupied house, that helped a lot too. That sort of activity also ebbed and flowed with the group of kids reaching high school age. The real troublemakers would graduate to prison after they turned 18.

From what I understand, there is a group in Bridge Station off of Senator Rd, and another down Bakers Bridge Rd. that hangs out in the Bridgestone Ln. Tynesdale Rd. area. This was from a friend's kid who goes to SP High a couple of years ago, but I would guess that the High school kids would know. I don't know what "affiliation" they claim if any or if they are just a bunch of delinquent punks that haven't committed their first class "A" felony yet. Either way, graffiti and petty crime definitely needs to be reported so that the Po Po can keep tabs on these guys.

Not true. That little tome is a great rationalization for the unsuccessful. It takes a plan, sacrifice, risk, and perseverance to make money. Most successful people started off at the bottom, wondering whether to pay the phone bill or the power bill this month just like everybody else. They lived below their means and saved their money and planned for their future, delaying gratification, often choosing to live "poor" far beyond their ability to afford a better lifestyle. They invest their savings in their own and other's plans. At some point all of the planning and sacrifice starts to pa
