  1. I got OLD (as in senior citizen). And people frequently call me "sweetie". I don't like it. I am not upset at the person, I understand they are being kind; but each time someone does that I walk away feeling that I obviously am "looking" old. BTW - gorgeous baby pic!
  2. Many, many, many years ago;; when kids were little, we got that same note. I immediately began checking and YEP, all 3 of mine had them. And it was the night before my inlaws were coming to visit from California. I was appalled. We stayed up half the night. The boys were easy but my daughter had long hair. It took me 4 hours to pick out every little nit from her head; we both cried. That comb was useless on her long hair!. We were stripping beds, washing everything - frantically trying to erase the fact from our house and telling my in-laws! Good Luck to you - Unfortunately c
  3. "you make my ears tired" and laugh I love you but sometimes it is ok to not talk I have a similar relative; everything is about them; however, this relative has a wonderful heart. I think the talking is a way to boost their own self confidence. I hope you can figure out something to ease your discomfort.
  4. Well if any future child killer gets ready for sentencing; they best beg to not go to San Quentin. I don't have strong feelings of injustice on this one!
  5. One of my workleaders used to look at his crew and say "That's why they call it WORK, people!" About 75 % of my staff would give you their last breath if you asked them to. The other 25% was a constant struggle to try to build their work ethic which is mostly a losing battle. Sadly, I had to fire quite a few. Our company was top of the line but you EARNED your salary; every penny.
  6. Well that's too bad. His voice was so unique!
  7. Thank you and same to you and yours
  8. All my babies slept thru the night by the age of one month. Of course, back then the rules were different. My babies got about 1 tablespoon of warm rice cereal right before bed. During the night, there was no light in the room, I spoke very softly. There was no playing. Eat and right back to bed. In the morning, I opened the blinds, turned on lights; I talked and played so they knew it was "time to wake up" I was a lucky mommy. Lots of luck with that new little bundle!!
  9. Just got back from there yesterday! Great weather!
  10. Nothing here, just off Ridge Road; but very gloomy; a typical Good Friday. So often Good Fridays are rainy, stormy or gloomy.
  11. My daughter lives in NYC. You get so used to beggars as u walk down the street. When visiting, I occasionally bought an extra sandwich at lunch to give away. And a few were so crippled, I gave money. Some are just looney. Many of those in NYC have their own "spot" and have regular "givers". Some are dressed very nicely and that is usually because one of their "givers" is someone wealthy who gives them hand me downs. For those I do not wish to give to, I look them squarely in the eye and give a firm "no". The lady in the jeep sounds a little like a scam artist.
  12. Though I am not a personal friend of GG, I enjoyed the updates. I am so glad to see a pic. I, for one, think a birth is a reason for all of us to celebrate. I am so glad everything went well and you are home with that beautiful little girl. And yes, I DID luv The Postman's comment.
  13. My granddaughters and daughter and I are having a great time. And thanks to advice from here, we have chosen good hotels; not fancy but clean and inexpensive. The weather has been great; pool weather for sure; then there is the darn food!!!! YUM! It was funny last night, I wanted a bottle of wine and we had to drive to Gatlinburg to get it!! Anyway; happy for the great suggestions from this group!
  14. Isn't that just wonderful! A random act of kindness. I've done that a time or two; it reminds me I want to do it again real soon. Sure makes you feel good inside. Have a great day.
  15. I owe a big apology to CC. I intended to drop off my money yesterday morning on the way to get a hair cut; and I forgot. If we had won BIG, I would be kicking my sorry butt around the house this morning. Thanks for all you do CC.
  16. Quite good!! I would not be the least bit surprised if she is chosen. In addition to lubricating the throat; do no speak above a whisper for 24 hours.
  17. LOL - brought back memories. My husband kept telling me that "according to the book" it wasn't time to go to the hospital yet. I finally told him to #$&)#%^&*&*(*)( with the freaking book. We went to the hospital and I was there less than an hour when my daughter was born. Husband was so confused!! LOL
  18. I wasn't one to have difficult labors. But I found that a wet wash cloth was my best friend. I put it on my head, my face, my hair; I wrung it, flopped it around and wiped my face with it. Also focusing on one spot in the room. I had pitocin with my second; I was already well advanced but doctor wanted to hurry it along. No problems. About 3 good pains and it was over. First - I had gas Second - natural Third - natural; I was in the hospital less than an hour; the doctor never made it. And as they say; keep your eyes on the prize; that precious little person to love and cher
  19. Sorry Caped is feeling sad today! I would like to play again. Thank you for your efforts!
  20. I know this is corny; but I moved here from East Cobb several years ago. Today, on the way to run errands, I had to carefully drive around 3 horses and riders in a two-lane road. On the way home, I came to a dead stop in the middle of the lane. There was a rooster, staring me down. I love it! The first time my New York City daughter came to visit; she was following me in her rental car and called me on my cell. She said "Where in the "heck" are you taking me?? LOL Two years ago, I ran into a parent from my daughter's former high school in Cobb. They asked where I live now
  21. And I'll take you up on that! Cheers! Bottoms Up! Here's to Ya!
  22. don't need me a lawn mower, got them thar goats for that Just kidding. That did happen about 2 houses from me across the street. But it turned out fine. The people are taking good care of the home. There are a few "jam" sessions from time to time in the garage. But not late at night. I didn't realize what was going on until it was almost said and done. Take your worry pants off but keep your eyes peeled for unusual activity.
  23. McCormick makes a seasoning pack and I have found it to be better than any recipe I have tried. Another thing to think about is adding a tiny bit of liquid smoke. yum
