  1. I was so excited to see them win for a change. I've always rooted for the Lions but it's definitely more fun when they win. I remember back in college they used to start off each game really well and still end up losing so the bets would be on what time in the game they would lose the lead. Go Lions!!
  2. We've been meaning to check it out and just never got around to it. Bummer.
  3. Thanks, we were starting to run rather low on the bottled water and I wasn't looking forward to having to boil some. I'm wondering if I should refill the tub in case the new rain system reeks havoc on the water system. In the meantime I am going to take a nice warm bath.
  4. No we are having a little too (I'm in New Hope) and I just drove by the middle school and it was raining a little there as well.
  5. There are definitely volunteer opportunities there. I've already gotten a few e-mails from them. For example today they needed people to help pass out lunches in a Sweetwater neighborhood. I know one of the e-mails said that they would be needing help through the middle of October. I plan on helping out a few morning a week when the kids go back to school and getting them to help out as well one day on the weekends. I know the pastor Brian Bloye has infomation on his myspace or facebook and at his website. I think on most of those he has links to where to get all the information. I beli
  6. It's so nice to hear from the BOE exactly why and what is going on. They have done such a great job this week. I'm surprised that Cobb was able to get back up and running so quickly. I am especially interested to see if, when and how we have to make up the days.
  7. Dang, I'm bummed I missed Criminal Minds. We did watch Modern Family, Cougar Town and Eastwick. My favorite of those was Modern Family. Both my daughter and I were cracking up. The family with the kids so reminded me of my kids. The problem I am having in my house right now is that the guide just says To Be Announced and doesn't tell me what is on when. Argh!!! so frustrating.
  8. I believe teaching can be fun. I substitute teach and have had the honor of witnessing some awesome teachers in action. A few years back I was at Roberts when this 4th grade teacher taught her kids a rap on the explorers they were studying. She said she came up with it while watching her son play football. I had a 4th grader myself at another school and took a copy to share with her and then kept it for my 3rd grader the next year. This particular teacher did not have her teaching degree but was one of those that comes from another field and then gets their teaching degree. This is at th
  9. Just my 2 cents on the "Pointless" Winter break and having all of Thanksgiving week off. I too remember going to school up until Wednesday during Thanksgiving week when I was growing up but I also remember alot of people being gone and the teachers not scheduling anything important so it was pretty much a waste to go. As far as the "pointless" Winter Break. It's definitely needed. So many kids are getting sick that time of year I think part of the reason they do it is to keep the germs from spreading and wouldn't be surprised if attendance records back this up. Having those two weeks are
  10. I used to love that show and would get up at a ridiculous hour to watch it when I was 11 or so. How sad. It sounds like he lived a long life though. I hope it was a good one.
  11. I'm in New Hope and we still have water. Of course we are off Old Cartersville and not Due West. I filled the tub last night and a bunch of water bottles too. Ya never know.
  12. I doubt we have it and if we do I have a feeling they wouldn't cover what little damage we have. Our basement/garage isn't finished but I'm worried about the structural damage to the foundation. I can see some of the cement blocks wet and the water had to get in from somewhere. I'm not to worried about the stuff we have down there. Sure it sux but it's just stuff (a few antiques, bikes, ping pong table, etc...) Well there are some family pictures and painting stored down there too but well see today how it looks. Anyways, I can't see SF dishing out more money to us this year after paying
  13. I'm heading up Old Cartersville (which I hear is okay) then North on 60 to High Shoals Rd for a couple of miles to Virgil Drive~~Has anyone been in that area? I've never been up that way so I'm not sure if it would be bad or not. Thanks! Just to recap any info on 60 from Old Cartersville to High Shoals rd then down High Shoals to Virgil Drive Then Virgil Drive?
  14. That is so nice of you. Photo's are priceless and often times the older ones are irreplaceable.
  15. Thanks, I hope our direct tv is working by then (fingers crossed).
  16. Love teh minute by minute reporting. I'm going to have to try to remember this thread for the link to check in the morning. Thanks for posting it.
  17. Bummer, we've been looking forward to this since the season finale and now the TV is out and probably won't be working for a couple of days. Like I said in another post I love our Direct Tv except for when it's raining. If anyone hears if and when they will replay it please let me know. Thanks!!
  18. OMGosh, I am so sorry to hear this. I have been thinking about her all day and praying she would be found safe.
  19. Didn't even occur to me to see if we had any flooding until about the third neighbor asked if we had any when I was out playing with the kids. Silly me I guess I was so excited about the new roof and not having any leaks. Oh well, we do have flooding in the basement/garage. It will be a pain to clean up but I don't think I should start until the rain stops and I have someone to help move the heavier furniture that is stored down there. I checked the radar and it looks like there are going to be several more waves of rain for the next 24-36 hours. Overall I consider us blessed.
  20. Thanks for the reminder. I used to watch all those CBS Soaps and then a couple of years ago I was thinking about how many hours of my life I had watched and just quit. I do think I am going to watch the last few days of the GL though. I think that was my favorite. I wonder how it will affect viewership of the Y&R switching times. So many people that work watch it on their lunch break. I remember when I first met my FIL and finding out it was one of his favorite shows. He was a retired educator (teacher, then principal) and I couldn't figure out how he was able to keep up with
  21. I loved it! It was exactly what I was thinking and to hear it come out of his mouth is too funny!
  22. I really like Dr. Kuzio. He never makes me feel rushed and will spend as much time answering whatever questions you have. He also is very open minded and friendly. He was recommended to me by one of my daughters Dr.'s who said they don't usually recommend Dr.'s but just knew too many people who bragged about what a great Dr. they had. Fortunately for me I've only had to see him a handful of times over the past few years.
  23. Sometimes it is so hard to rap my brain some of the things that go on in the world. Sick, Sad, Depressing.... People wouldn't look at me and think I'm luck or blessed but I feel very blessed to have been born into the family and culture that I live in.
  24. I disagree with the e-mail and agree with many of the posters. This was a great program all around. I had planned to take advantage but they ran out of money before I could take advantage of it. I'm so happy for those that were able to get a new car from it. We always buy used so it would have been nice but our car does still get us from point a to point b and we don't have a car payment.
