Georgia man stands ground, result 72 yr old vet with Alzheimer's dead

Which is still an aggravated assault, the shot was in the wall about 2ft from his head which makes it a use of deadly force which would place any reasonable person in fear. More likely it was simply a miss. We don't give people a pass just because they miss, if so every miss would be a 'warning shot'. -

You don't have to post the same graph over and over. It clogs up the page. Second....that case does not involve a 'warning shot'. It involved a failed assault with a gun which was proven beyond a reasonable doubt to a jury. The theory of a warning shot was only provided by the defense at trial. -

Anyone who attempts to open the door to my residence in the middle of the night will have my undivided attention and cause me along other reasonable people to enter a defensive mindset. -

Not true....GA never had a duty to retreat clause in its law....ever. All the GA SYG ground laws enacted in 2006 did was reinforce that there was no duty to retreat and add immunity for certain instances of self defense. -

I take that as an attempted entry into my home. It raises the bar to the max at that point. A stranger has no right to attempt to open my door. -

So you are just going to use this situation for a gun control soap box. Yes, this was tragic. What is also tragic are the innocent people who die daily because they do not have the proper means to defend them self. Bottom line, this homeowner was placed in fear and legally responded in self defense even though mitigating circumstances were later found showing it was all a big misunderstanding. Nothing about that makes the possession of the gun bad nor makes it a less worthy tool of self protection. It did the job it was designed to do, the circumstances are what is tragic. -

Sad story but many situations can't be judged only using hindsight. What the person reasonably believed at the time is the proper criteria. -
Nope....you will be buying a mess if it was salvaged no matter how well they try to hide it.

With the items people keep in their cars these days you could enter 4 cars with nothing showing and find valuables in 3 of them. Guns, GPS units, purses, Ipod, Ipads, laptops are common. Usually they don't bother with the visually empty ones because there are enough people that leave a purse in the front seat to keep them busy.

Sometimes you have to be the bigger person. That is a dying trait these days, instead people fixate on always being 'right' no matter what the collateral damage is. In this case that damage case is trying to make a child choose between parents over a 10 year old grudge.

That should be a local issue.

Plenty of professions spend their own money for work supplies.

I swear....some people exist just to complain and oppose everything. The airport can do nothing but help our community in the long run. Bottom line is we have to move some of the tax base of the residents. Facilities such as an airport are needed to attract companies from surrounding areas that already have such in place.

Sounds like someone simply trying to make the legal issue between them more difficult. Avoiding the service of papers to stall a legal process isn't a noble cause.

Starving....LOL. We have the richest poor people in the world. The overwhelming majority of 'poor' people even working low end jobs have cars, flat screen tv's, smart phones and sufficient food.

....and what does that have to do with the average adult working an unskilled job long term? If they haven't excelled out of that class of job then it is usually for a reason. Those who stand apart find they will be given more responsibility and will no longer be at the bottom.
-
There will always be jobs at the bottom of the job market, they will pay less because the employee needs no specials skills or education to perform them. If an adult is trying to live solely on a job that can be and is easily performed by a HS student then it is obvious where the failure is.

The more important question is why do we have a society that cares or supports people made famous simply for being trashy.

The only curse is a string of bad restaurants.

Involuntary manslaughter does not apply since the legislature specifically enacted a law to deal with those specific situations. The proper charge, as filed, is a form of vehicular homicide which means the death was caused in a vehicular collision without specific intent. The only explanation is the jury believed the collision was unavoidable due to the darkness and the BUI played no factor. I know the defense did put on an expert which discussed visibility.

No more 404, 678 area codes given in Atlanta
Ugadawgs98 replied to MillCreek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
That would be a lot of numbers considering they can assign 8 million per area code. The current system allows for 7.9 billion numbers. -
New Stadiums for Falcons and Braves.

Stadiums have become part of the package to attract and sell the fan experience. It isn't just the place the team plays anymore.
