  1. Man ... I need some new glasses!
  2. Just had a pediatrician recommend when the kids get home from school have them take a shower and change into new clothes ... then all the nasty germs from school are gone. He said especially for mom's with newborns that have kids in elementary school...since the under 12 tend to touch everything and share lots of germs. Good thing we are out of the drought ... we can have the kids bathe more, and wash the clothes, and not feel guilty. I keep forgetting to pick up the lysol wipes to keep door knobs and switch plates germ free... now that we are into winter I guess!?
  3. Well the sun comes back next week they say ... but Sunday will only be a High of 55 with a low of 38!!!!! The High next week on Thursday they are guessing will be 69 degrees. I thought we would have two more really hot weeks like we usually do after they close the pool... then the kids come home roasting off the bus and want to go to the pool... and you have to be the one to tell them the pool is closed. That never happened this year ... it's all the Global Warming!
  4. It’s too bad the administration did not work out some other community service punishment for his/his parents error of the Spork Boy Scout Tool making it to school. He could pick up trash after school for a week. Clean the desks in class. Something that would point out rules are made to keep everyone safe...but are age appropriate. Zero tolerance is just one more problem created by a society who no longer thinks for themselves, but lets some stupid legislator make a broad policy that cannot truly cover all things that go on day to day in a school that deals with shaping and molding the
  5. When it is damp ... it takes the chill off and makes the house nice? We had rain last night through the morning... today has been overcast, sort of damp, with wind all day. I am hoping not to turn it on for a few more months ...save the almighty dollar ... plus I have all males in my house and they are always hot. My husband came home for lunch and wanted me to plug in the fan because he was hot... so I opened the door and put the fan on! I crawl under an electric blanket when I am cold and can't get warm in the winter...but then I get nothing done!
  6. Good for you ...wait for when it is colder when the hubby can enjoy the first smell! Tonight low of 52, then Wednesday low of 47! Now that's worthy of the heater!
  7. Socks will help you feel warm. Do you have on shorts or long pants? Layer a sweat shirt over your top and you will probably feel perfect without the heat!
  8. Test scores make the difference. ;)SAT average Cobb 1498, Paulding 1388 As many have stated, if your son has knock out SAT or ACT scores, he will have better options than a kid with a Cobb Education with low scores. That being said, I was surprised how many kids graduated with honors in Paulding, however they needed remedial classes in college, because their ACT or SAT test scores were too low? Also Marietta High School has an International Baccalaureate program that Paulding does not have ... I know many Paulding kids who are currently, (or who have) gone to Marietta for that p
  9. Many donations sites are full ... good problem to have ... but the needs will be great as people get back in their homes. I understand that many of the flooded families are starting to rent homes while they fix up theirs...they are in need of furniture since most had to throw things like couches and beds out ... can't dry them out sufficiently! Others who are living with friends and families will need these household goods once they are able to move back home ... which will not be immediately. The flood victims will need community support for some time to come. This is only the
  10. I heard the only way the bank would refinance their loan was if the land had "improvements"... IE grading, entrances, etc. It is zoned commercial from what I know. My understanding is there is not a plan of what will be there, just that it will be easier for a future buyer to put up buildings and develop the land since it will be prepared?
  11. If this does not make you laugh ... you're just not right!
  12. Is this "Caped Crusader's" brother? Looks to be prolific on driving videos!
  13. Yep! Makes you aware of how hard it would be to live in a country that has no running water! I know I take clean water for granted! Got a Nixel e-mail: BOIL WATER ADVISORY HAS BEEN LIFTED FOR PAULDING COUNTY!!! The situation has been fixed. Paulding County has LIFTED the Boil Water Advisory for Paulding County as of 5 p.m. today. 14. Per a lifelong resident, when the grandpa built the dam there was a much larger spillway, when a second house was added, the spillway was eliminated except for the little water wheel which always lets out water. There are many dams with this problem in Paulding now; they are working on fixing the most critical first. I don't know where this one fits in the pecking order... I hope it stays intact!
  15. Use link below to see more about Samaritan’s Purse, and how to sign up to help your neighbors and other Georgians. As I understand it... they provide the materials, they need volunteers to help ... all areas. http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/a...georgia_floods/ September 22, 2009 Responding to Georgia Floods Volunteers are needed to help Samaritan’s Purse meet the needs of storm victims Samaritan's Purse is sending a Disaster Relief Unit to Georgia, where days of torrential rains have caused widespread flooding. Staff have arrived in western Atlanta, an
  16. FYI for all of you out there who help so many! So many needs ... this may be an easy way to become involved? September 22 West Ridge Disaster Relief Plan for NW ATL From Paul Richardson - Outreach Pastor at West Ridge Church As many of you know, our area has been hit hard by several days of heavy rain and flooding. Several people have dealt with severe flood damage, lose of water and electricity, and many have even been displaced from their homes. In light of this, West Ridge Church we will be hosting Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Relief Team beginning tomorrow, Wednes
  17. The whole thing is devastating ... to look at the glass half full; Clark Howard said this could put people back to work. With so much of our county involved in development, hopefully we can get Paulding people back to work repairing Paulding!
  18. Son made it to KSU, left before 7:00 AM. He said 120 by Wal-mart was the worst of it. Traffic was slow under 40, but overall not too bad. I'm not sure which roads he took from 120 however?
  19. Love that quote ...totally forgot about it!
  20. No spacers here ... but Mc Lendon seems to be a great value and he is conservative in what he does to give kids a great smile.

    Perception

Yeah... I "get" why people on their way to work could not stop ... but it does make you think about how many things we miss in life because we are just too busy. Wouldn't it be nice in life if we had more time to pause and enjoy beauty? Will this persuade us to stop next time we have an opportunity to enjoy something of beauty even if it is unexpected? How many times as a parent did we rush our child when they showed obvious interest in something of wonder?

Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that thousands of people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. Three minutes went by and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried up to meet his schedule. A minute later, the violinist received his fir
