US Big Food Co's. Could Virtually Run Out of Sugar
Gone replied to midget56's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Boy déjà vu back to the Carter administration.... I remember my mom would not buy/could not buy sugar. My dad was a bee keeper, so everything that would usually be made with sugar was done with honey. I remember grapefruit were AWFUL with honey...at least to a pre-teen kid! I cook with honey quite a lot now; I get it from my brother who is a bee keeper. Gosh if prices go up he may stop sending it to me for free! Weird how history is repeating it's self ... can't wait for the 22% interest rates and gas lines! -
I don't know if it is so much as swindling, but not declaring money. For instance I have a friend that needed some repair work done to a wood floor, and some outside shutters. Small project. She was lucky enough to get a reference for a handyman that lived near her neighborhood. Keep in mind she had not known or met him prior to this. As she went to pay him she wanted to know what he wanted on the check. He said you can write either my company name or my personal name, and if you write my personal name I may not claim it as income. This surprised her, because she did not know th

Ooooooohhhhhh he's so purtiful ... I wish my man used hair fertilizer .... NOT!
-
But did you get shiny hair... was there a noticable difference? There are so many great conditioners now ... I bet mayonnaise is pase'.
-
Several years ago when my younger one brought home lice... I looked for remedies. Several suggested mayonnaise ... but they also said since they put it in their hair they could not eat or smell mayonnaise anymore. I wasn't gonna do that to the kids! After the lice stuff, I did the vinegar, followed by listerine... lice never came back! And we can all still eat mayonnaise! Now about the "fertilizer" what is that all about?
-
Mayonnaise kills lice in hair ..... hmmmm ....... fertilizer? I thought it was what we eat that "fertilizes" our hair!

Might be time to get a trained counselor involved to put the family back on the right path, as well as let the younger kids know this is not just blown off as a non issue! I can't imagine the emotional toll this has had on the whole family. Relief for now, but worry it could happen again would haunt me and make it hard to disipline, which could really mess things up worse? Prayers are with them while they heal this whole upsetting incident.

To the neighbor whose dog keeps crapping on my front lawn...
Gone replied to a topic in RECENT TOPICS
I take out plastic shopping bags to let them pick it up and take it home. One neighbor girl started walking home, thought about it, turned around knocked on my front door and asked if she could put it in my trash can! I said I did not want to smell dog poop for 5 more days as I threw out my trash, so why didn't she just take it home to her trash can. Don't walk your dog without a bag, or expect to leave it's poop at a neighbors! -
Okay, I like Sheryl Crows music... however I heard this first on the radio and thought WTH? Crow calls for limit on loo paper Singer Sheryl Crow has said a ban on using too much toilet paper should be introduced to help the environment. Crow has suggested using "only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where two to three could be required". The 45-year-old, who made the comments on her website, has just toured the US on a biodiesel-powered bus to raise awareness about climate change. "Although my ideas are in the earliest sta

I was surprised they would "spread the tea towels on the grass" Wouldn't they dry better on a clothes line, AND not get dirty again? I am sooooo glad we have dryers! Growing up we only had a clothes line, no dryer ...I hated hanging up everything! I don't know how my mom did it!

My Aunt sent this to me thought I would share: Warshing clothes Never thought of a "washer" in this light before - what a blessing! "Warshing Clothes Recipe" -- imagine having a recipe for this ! ! ! Years ago an Alabama grandmother gave the new bride the following recipe: This is an exact copy as written and found in an old scrapbook - with spelling errors and all. WARSHING CLOTHES Build fire in backyard to heat kettle of rain water. Set tubs so smoke wont blow in eyes if wind is pert. Shave one hole cake of lie soap in boilin water. Sort things, make 3

I had a friend that bought a company that did fundraisers for organizations. She found that the company actually must have had two sets of books. When they audited before they purchased the company they were told 40% of the money raised went to the organization that hired them, and the books reflected that. After 6 months she could tell there was no way the schools and organizations had even been getting 10% based on the numbers... the dollar amounts each fundraiser made were right, but the percentage was no where near 40%. To be able to make a profit a much smaller percent had

It got you to look.... It got you to talk about it to others.... And now others will be more likely to look at the sign to see it themselves. Other than that, I bet they are going for a younger crowd ... a crowd that would think it is funny, not tasteless? I have not seen the sign...and I guess if it does not have a female with few clothes ... I would take it as cutesy, not lewd?

Tonight was a beautiful night to mow a lawn! The grass was not dry in the morning... then it was too hot and muggy mid day... but after the north wind blew away the humidity ...Wow what a night! Did anyone see the sunset? It was amazing. I started working outside about 6:30 PM...Between edging, talking to neighbors (who were also outside working in their yards,) I was not done until around 9:00 PM. There was enough light from the house and street light to see ... but it was definitely dark. I've got all the windows open and a great breeze is blowing through the house ..

Third hand smoke: the smoke that you still smell from your mail lady ...so strong you can "taste it." Unfortunately cigarettes are extremely addictive. The problem with them is too many will never be able to stop the habit, even when they start to become aware their body is being devastated by smoking. The initial rough voice, then the coughing, then the wheeze when they exert themselves, then the wheeze even when they are just sitting still. I watched my dad die of emphysema. What a horrible way to die! He weighed 65 pounds

I don't care for milk, however, I leave a large glass in the door of the fridge, with ice, that has my beverage of choice. (Or an open soda can in the door.) Drives my husband nuts because sometimes it spills if someone doesn't see it. After 20 years he just knows it is there, AND now he drinks out of my glass reducing his urge to drink out of the container...which I think is GROSS! I just worry germs will multiply in the container and someone else will get sick... probably not...you never read about someone dying of milk jug death!

I've been buying the “Product of Denmark" ribs in a box from Kroger for years when they put them on special. They store in the freezer well since they are in the box, and they taste great. I do not know how they can sell them for so little and pay for transportation too? I figured Denmark meat was probably as safe as US meat... it's the third world countries I am leery of.

After I saw a program on the weird antibiotics allowed in many Asian countries to treat the seafood, I made sure I looked where the fish was from. Since most of what I can find, and afford here is frozen it has had the country of origin. My husband found some cheep seafood, and I said where is the country of origin? It was from Malaysia which was one of the countries that routinely uses bad antibiotics. I told him about the show I saw and how right now I did not plan on purchasing seafood from Asian countries. We do not eat much seafood now anyway. Not living near the ocean, I ca

Dry, or with the eggs, oil and water? For some reason your post reminded me of when my mom's cousin told a whole roomfull of family a secret about her and my mom. She said she and my mom used to take canned olives and madarine oranges from their mom's pantries and eat them in secret together... It was fun to find that out about my mom! I like to melt milk chocolate chips with some cream, then chop up a banana in a bowl and dump the melted chocolate all over the bananas...a little frozen cool whip is great with this too! ...My kids have no idea ...and I only do it when the banan

While Paulding looks at our local budget to see where cuts should come from ... I thought we should not cut law enforcement. Then I hear stuff like this and think, maybe there are times we are over staffed. If another officer had nothing else to do but come hang out as his buddy wrote up an expired tag? Sort of like when two girls go to the bathroom together... are they not capable of writing up the expired tag without a friend?
