  1. I didn't mean to sound so callous when I said that...yes, indeed, grief would drive every move I made for a very long time, I'm quite sure. I was just thinking that I literally don't know why people file lawsuits when they do. I don't disagree with anything you said, but I still think even if he wanted off the ballot that it may have been to late to remove it.
  2. RE: same quality - that depends on what kind of insurance you have. I forget the terms (Caped Crusader could tell us) but one replaces what you lost at its original value, and one replaces what you lost at today's value. I have the today's value one. Also, nothing to do with this discussion, but if you add on/renovate, you need to make sure you update your coverage as well. I remember a LOT of people in the wake of Hurricane Katrina who weren't paid for much of the value of their homes because they had added on or whatever, but hadn't updated their coverage.
  3. Interesting, MsGaStorm. I'm guessing that played into their firing him so quickly. RM - I'm pretty sure they can be sued. Sometimes people wait awhile before filing...not sure why, but they do.
  4. AMEN, low! God bless every veteran, no matter when or where he/she served. And God bless the fine Marines - semper fi, gentlemen!
  5. In thinking about this, it occurred to me that perhaps lawyers told them to keep mum? If the families sue the state, perhaps any comments could be used to bolster their case? I'm not justifying that...I've always been of the opinion that if something needs to be said, just say it already. But I know how these legal people think sometimes...
  6. Yeah, I'm guessin' we'd still be in the pokey. All is good in Pandaland...just been BUSY with 800,000 things, and then Mother gets vertigo, and then I broke a filling, and, and, and... But hey - I consider all to be fantastic if I'm not sleeping on the floor of the ICU waiting room wondering if the person I love most in the world is gonna live (which I've done before, and can live the rest of my life without doing again).
  7. OH, NO!!! I'm just now seeing this, but geez...how awful!!! I am so sorry...what you are going through is miserable. If I were there, I'd give you a big ol' hug. DANG. Just dang.
  8. If this keeps up, Bartow is gonna have to PAY property owners instead of charging them property tax. Emerson is desirable for the same reason Orlando was desirable to Disney - nothing was there before they built, and they had room to grow as they needed to.
  9. Ditto that, sweetie. The death of a parent is something you just can't prepare for. I'll keep you in my prayers.
  10. That was an interesting article. I will say this - psychopaths/otherevilpaths are very good at disguising their true selves. But only for awhile. I knew a girl once who dated a guy for two years before they married, but then divorced him after just a couple of months. The two years were spent going to dinner and a movie, with no substantive interaction, so she saw what she wanted to see (and what he wanted her to see). But over time, they cannot keep it up. Astute people who know what to look for will pick up signs soon after meeting them, but even if the person is really good, they cann
  11. Was the accident before or after he could have taken his name off the ballot? I know the deadline is pretty far out. I don't see him running for - and certainly not getting elected to - higher office. He looks very young; article doesn't state his age. Instructive that GSP fired his hiney...I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen for just anything.
  12. We run roughly 60/40 trash to recycling, and some weeks it's 50/50. Our trash company provides a bin equal to the size of the garbage can and we use it like crazy.
  13. Semantics. The need for the parent's love, affection, strength, approval, loyalty, and support continues forever in a child's life. Some parents, who should never have been parents, fail their children in childhood and continue to fail them in adulthood.
  14. I've pretty much decided that we are too hot here for fescue...it's a royal pain in my are to aerate, overseed, fertilize, etc., for an awesome-looking lawn till maybe June and when hot/dry hits, death.

    Joe Biden

Oh, you poor deluded soul. She will not only not be indicted, but will come out of this smelling like a rose. You heard it here first.
  16. Agree with GD - it was just not feasible to keep it open before. I do hope they make a go of it if they do good stuff. Birds of a Feather will probably be funny if well-done, and Letters from the Front should be good. The other stuff - meh.
  17. I'm with low. Don't approach me in a parking lot.
  18. Smooooth voice. Good to hear he's doing well. How did you like the Bremen venue?
  19. :sigh: I hate people, and what they do to children. And no, Judge Beavers, parents are not superfluous, even long after the child is grown.
  20. That's one of those great movies that couldn't be made today because of political correctness. Airplane! is another. But they are equal opportunity offenders.
  21. See, you be brave. I think Madea goes to that one, too. Y'all both be brave. I be skeert. :runningaway:
