I fell not quite 20 years ago and tore the ligaments/tendons/whatever away from my shins. Didn't break anything, but took a long time to heal. I can always tell when something's up with the weather when my shins start to hurt. My mom broke her ankle when she was a kid, and it still hurts when bad weather approaches.

hahahahahaa DGITW - how long have you been up here? We seldom have any winter weather to write home about, but there was the blizzard of '93, the snow jam of '86, and then (I hear) the ice storm of '60. 'Em 'ar thangs'll skeer ye. We were without power for eight days during the blizzard.

My littlest nephew was in the NICU for three weeks when he was born...he was 6 lb., but was three weeks early due to pre-eclampsia in my sister, and his little lungs weren't working right. So anyhoo, I'd go in to see him in the NICU, and in the little boxes on either side of him would be these INCREDIBLY tiny preemies...one of them, I swear, wasn't much bigger than a coke can!!! And there he was with his big ol' 6 lb. self looking like Mr. Giant Baby. hahahahahaa Mrs. B., you'll such a good mommy. I smile every time I think of you. And Jenilyn, too, and Mr.

I will say that if your dr. gives you Ambien, beware of two things: a) some folks have an adverse reaction to it, like my father did, and just FREAK OUT...he was climbing the WALLS till it wore off, and 2) if it works, beware of its POWERFUL effects. States on the info sheet that you may do things and not remember them while taking it, and I totally believe it. I can take 1/4 of a 10mg pill and be OUT for 12 hours. OUT, I mean. So that right thar is some powerful doo-doo.

Look up sleep disorders on the interwebz, too. I've had my own share of sleep woes the last few years, and I found information that helped me. for one thing, I had bad habits that would keep me from feeling peaceful at bedtime. They talk about things like sleep hygiene - no TV in the bedroom, peaceful colors, uncluttered, clean bed linens, good pillow, consistent bedtime, etc. Good luck. Not sleeping well is a major irritant at best and a health hazard at worst.
