Well, after being out and about for the last couple of days, I gotta say that whatever recession there may be elsewhere, it hasn't hit here nearly as hard. Construction (residential AND commercial) is happenin' all over. Man, you cannot even MOVE in teh stores and if you want to go out to eat, you have to get there way early to avoid a monstrous wait. Now, I'm in NE TN, and the jobs here would pay better than in completely rural areas, but I really like it up here. My brother lives in east TN. He pays NO state income tax, NO ad valorem tax (his car tag is like $20 or whatever every year), and sales tax about the same as ours is. Also, he lives near two Level 1 Trauma Centers and one Level 2 Trauma Center. Not to mention which it is an absolutely LOVELY LOVELY LOVELY part of the country. I think it's a sign. Pfft.
