Rep. Braddock's challenger talks about Wednesday's hearing
LisaC replied to gpatt0n's topic in Fastread page
You can appeal. From the Official Code of Georgia (OCGA 21-2-5(e)): The elector filing the challenge or the candidate challenged shall have the right to appeal the decision of the Secretary of State by filing a petition in the Superior Court of Fulton County within ten days after the entry of the final decision by the Secretary of State. The filing of the petition shall not itself stay the decision of the Secretary of State; however, the reviewing court may order a stay upon appropriate terms for good cause shown. As soon as possible after service of the petition, the Secretary of State s -
Double check, but I was told that you have to register and that he will only be at Academy for ONE hour.

Are you saying cooking will kill you? Cereal will be served for dinner in my house until further notice!!!!

I think the reason that this has stayed in the news is that so many people have been holding special events for her, including the city of Snellville. It's great to hear a community of people rallying around someone in need. Now, would you rather hear about Aimee Copeland or more about Trayvon????

I'm not going to bash you, but I will say that I LOVE hearing that she is doing so well and that the news is focusing on good news for a change.
-
Actually, I believe that the bashing has happened to just about every candidate that I have seen post on here (regardless of party affiliation). It's sad that people want the candidates to listen to them, but they don't want to listen to the candidates. If someone has some FACTS out there that they want to share about a candidate, put them out there and let the public decide. But, put the personal attacks aside - it generally makes the poster and the candidate they are supporting look bad, not the candidate they are attacking.

The hearing was this morning - has anyone heard how it went? -
I'm thinking that it simply means that the adjuster assigned to her claim is on vacation this week - it is a holiday week after all. Why would the insurance company want to stall? The more time they give you, the more likely you are to hire an attorney. P.S. If you are just looking for property damage (payment for the car) and there were no injuries in the accident, hold off on the attorney - a personal injury attorney will generally take about 33% of any amounts recovered in a case (plus costs - and most tack on a "file set up" fee, photocopy charges, postage, etc.).

If you want really special, get out of Paulding and make the drive into Atlanta - it's worth it.

Since you work in Atlanta, get in touch with The Children's Center at All Saint's Episcopal Church. My law firm has a private day care also run by the same company (Bright Horizons) and the former director from our center is now the director there. It's a great center and your baby will be close to you - something that was important to me when the princess was born. I looked at just about every day care in South Paulding and down 278 and I didn't feel comfortable with a single one. Even married people can file taxes separately....
-
It may have just been a case of the person she spoke with using the wrong terminology. Common law marriages (except those before 1997) are not acknowledged in Georgia any longer. However, state requirements for some assistance consider the income of everyone living in the household (including boyfriends, parents, children, etc.).
-
Here is how the law reads: O.C.G.A. 19-3-1.1 (2010) 19-3-1.1. Common-law marriage; effectiveness. No common-law marriage shall be entered into in this state on or after January 1, 1997. Otherwise valid common-law marriages entered into prior to January 1, 1997, shall not be affected by this Code section and shall continue to be recognized in this state. However, since you are living together, your boyfriend's income can be considered as a source in determining your elibility for some state benefits because the "household" income is sometimes used as the basis for eligiblity.

Dr. Reyes at WellStar Pulmonary treated me when I had pneumonia. I was very impressed with him and with that group - I highly recommend them. I was seen in both the Paulding office and the office at Kennestone.

I'm going to watch the story and then decide what I think. 11Alive has proven itself to be a reliable source and I'm sure they will share as many of the facts as they have (regardless of who will be shed in a negative or positive light). -

I don't know anything about a "credit card scandal" so I will definitely have to watch. Thanks for the heads up! -
Voting is July 31 and I haven't seen or heard any more about whether the Secretary of State has issued a determination on whether or not he is qualified to run. Anyone have any input?

So how do you plan to do the job differently or better than Sam Clark?
-
Or, he could just say to heck with it and throw her stuff out tomorrow and see if she does anything about it. It wouldn't be legal, but that doesn't mean he won't do it.
