That should be an interesting conference and I'm glad to see that Pubby is a panelist. There needs to be someone on board that deals with these issues on a daily basis and I doubt that there is anyone more qualified than Pubby. -
I had no idea he was that old. He's one of those actors that has been in so many productions that there is not a single one that stands out to me.

I would have a difficult time explaining this

I do not disagree with anything that has been said and this is not about making us feel guilty. We are the most generous country in the world when it comes to helping others. I did not pose this as a moral question. I'm looking at this from the standpoint of an 10 year old kid laying on the ground because he is to weak to move when he learns that in America what we use for kitty litter would keep him alive. I'm just wondering what his thought process would be and how he could grasp the concept that we use food products for non-food purposes? I just think it's neat to put another person's shoes -
I just saw a commercial for cat litter that is made from whole kernel corn: http://getodorcontrol.com It seems like a great product and I'm not knocking the company or the concept at all. The question that came to mind though, was how would I explain this to someone living in a country where people die from starvation everyday: "In America we have so much food that we let our pets go to the bathroom on it". There's got to be a better way to explain it.

We will never forget.

For years aircraft with cramped coach seating have been referred to as cattle cars. In an effort to make us feel better about ourselves, we can think of ourselves as cowboys and cowgirls if the seat pictured below gains approval. Maybe they will throw in some horse manure smell to further enhance the experience. Yeehaw!

Excellent post! The things that you mentioned are exactly why Desktop Linux distros are only a microscopic splinter of the OS market. Having said that, many of the Linux flavors (Ubuntu, Mint, etc.) are much more user friendly now than they use to be. But as you have noted there is much more work to be done. If it is ever going to become more "normal user" friendly, they must get some normal users on the team instead of just a bunch of geeks. IMO there are three reasons for someone to use Linux: It's good for those that are tinkerers and love to mess with stuff. Second, I think it is a good ch

Not sure what you mean about BIOS pathways corrupt. PM me your number and I can call you later tonight to try to help.

As TSG mentioned you will need an external USB CD Drive since the mini's do not have one built in. You may need to change some settings in the BIOS to get it to boot from the external drive. Also if you install Windows, you will need to download the Windows drivers from support.dell.com. The Windows disk that you have needs to be a retail version and not an OEM (unless it is a Dell branded OEM) or it will not activate if it has been used on another computer. Thank Microsoft for this nice OEM licensing feature.

I have had the ATT femtocell for about a month now and am very pleased. The setup was easy and alot quicker than advertised. If you have a long history with Verizon you might try to convince them to give you one for free or at a reduced price. ATT gave me one, but I have been a customer forever and spend about $300/mo with them for wireless, internet, home phone and TV.

You just look at them just like you do shoes. They key is the seam in the toe area. My friend David taught me how to tell the difference when we were 5 and David never lied. Now the truth. Many years ago, I did notice some variation of the seams. Some socks had more material bunched together on the right side where the seam ended and on some there was a bigger bunch on the left. I always wore the sock so that the bigger bunch was on my big toe instead of the small toe. Having the big bunch on the small toe irritated my toe. As the manufacturing process has improved I can no longer tell a

I do nothing that is weird, but my wife thinks I'm weird for only wearing left socks on my left foot and right on my right. I think she's the one that crazy since making sure the socks are on the correct foot is much more comfortable.

You are exactly right. As Willie Sutton the bank robber said when asked why he robbed banks, "because that's where the money is", so it is with hacking Windows. At one time Apple was running ads promoting the fact that a Mac user did not have to worry about viruses. I think this was a dumb thing to do as some might view this as a challenge. There are anti-virus products for the Mac which I recommend for anyone that will be sharing files with a Windows user. The Mac may not be infected by a malicious file, but if the file is passed along to a Windows machine then that machine could become infec

That was my suspicion and I absolutely hate that. IMO, when a certain department collects a tax, I think the money should stay with the department or at least used to fund something related. If the department does not need all the money, then cut the tax. Another thing that gets my goat is that we tax the stew out of cigarettes and use that tax for non related purposes. The only cig tax I think is fair is one that would be used for treatment to smoking related illnesses and stop smoking programs. Instead, most states use it to fund anything and everything. How is it fair to say to a smoker tha

I know it's not just about a sticker and being a business owner is what makes me think about stuff like this. The biggest difference between a business and a government entity is that a businesses customers establish the prices and not the business. The business can attempt to charge any price they want, but the customer can always take their business elsewhere if they do not like the prices. If the business wants to survive, they will need to do whatever necessary to offer a price that the customer is willing to pay. With a government entity, we do not have that choice and I believe that high

I was horrified that the cost of a sticker is $20. I realize that they are real pretty and numbered, but $20 - give me a break. If it really cost $20 per vehicle to operate the registration process, then we have a huge amount of waste (or theft) somewhere.

I hate to say this, but I think the only explanation that would make me feel a little better was if this lady was under the influence and mentally messed up. For a sober person to do this is beyond my comprehension.

So sorry. Prayers for everyone.

How awful - will be praying for all of you.

That's exactly what I think every time someone like this dies. It's terribly sad. I'm just thankful that they can live on through the recorded performances that were made.

Read the opening statement of the post: The topic is about government spending and the contributions that NASA has made. I'm not what any of us are suppose to say if we should not carry on with that line of thought since that is the subject of the post.

What a way to die. RIP.
