That's a good looking special olympian you've got there, Nick. I wonder who it is? pubby

Case by case based on what factors? Heat? The responsibility of the child/adult? Who is the better judge, the parent or the officer or, in the case of the 13 year old above, a citizen who called the law and harassed the parent and traumatized the child. In my youth you could get a learners permit to drive in Texas at 12 and a license at 15. I was riding my bicycle to school (about 1.5 miles) in the county seat of the second largest county in Arkansas when I was eight years old (third and fourth grade). That was a different time but today, AMTRAK and Greyhound will, with some restrict

I don't believe so. My understanding isthe folks that did this split from the GOP and started doing this as a business two years ago. Prior to that, several of their productions were GOP fundraisers but, what can I say, the organizers are Republicans and given the work to bring this kind of event together, I think they decided they'd rather earn the profit than give it away pubby

A topic called home mortgage assistance was set invisible
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I've had a few PM's about this program and it appears it is a non-profit corporation that is doing a great deal of good for a lot of folks. While they are in downtown Atlanta tomorrow - it is the last day - they are and will continue to handle renegotiations of mortgages with some exceptionally attractive rates and anyone who feels they are in trouble with a mortgage should check these folks out. They are not a scam and the articles mentioned in the AJC were not ads ... but articles. This from their website: http://www.naca.com pubby -
I think there is a fair question in this. At what age is a child responsible enough not to sit tight and die in a car in the heat? If it were a beautiful fall day with temperatures in the mid-60's and the child was 11 and wanted to listen to the radio or watch a DVD, would they have to be towed into a store ... or are they responsible enough. I think we can all agree that an infant and toddler age up to five or so is a no -brainer ... but somewhere between six and sixteen the child is old enough to sit in a car alone, aren't they? What about the person who happens to 'live'

Psychomom: I wish it were fixable. The 'optional' forum thing is really a 'mental invention' of pcom to create a function that was not initially a part of the software (which is something I bought off the shelf from another vendor.) At present the 'optional forum' concept is, from the vendors point of view, an unsupported feature. I don't know if they will ever support this 'feature.' pubby

There was a topic called home mortgage assistance that was posted by a member who was apparently estatic about the service claimed to be offered for free. Another member stated that the event in downtown Atlanta's GWCC was continuing through something like Tuesday. They ID'd the event as having a website: www.naca.com (not a live link mods). While we don't know and can't verify the validity, quality or benefit of the program, we do know that the GWCC doesn't rent for nothing and ads in the AJC (cited by a member) are not cheap. The information provided suggested that this person

In the above, I suggested there are things that might come about that might mitigate the charge for news being exacted. I receive a ton of newsletters about the news business and one suggestion made in the last day or two was that the Congress could do something that would revitalize news gathering organizations and that would be to license them as sports bookies I really don't want to get into the bookie business myself ... really ... but we've had 'subscriptions' for some time. Fact is, we're working on a subscription package that is designed to fund a specific kin

You could buy a few air mattresses ... keep the sales slip ... and offer to sell them to them at a slight profit and take the one's you don't sell back new and un-used. pubby

NewsJunky: The times they are a changing. When you're looking at going broke, you do what you have to do to survive. The reality is that the Dallas New Era is not going to have a foreign correspondent in Tehran or Baghdad. If you have any care or concern about what is happening there in the near term, you'll pay the modest fee for a publication like the NYTimes. FYI: I've been a paid 'member' of the NYTimes for five or six years and back in the mid-1990's I had earned (through consulting) a subscription to the WSJ (back before the Internet was really the Internet.) Paulding county has the longest commute of any of the suburban counties. With the stress levels over 'whether I still have a job" combined with a full moon and that extra 20 minutes in traffic ... if someone is going to 'snap' ... it is probably more likely to be from Paulding than other places. pubby

I've got her by the ankles THH We're getting ready to do this. Hopefully some folks will show up to say howdy if not happy birthday. We've been chasing our own tails all day and I've got to send out a couple of more bingo cards. doing that right now. For the record, if you get here by 7:00 or so, we'll have cards here ... to give out and it will be 7:45 at least, before we have a winner. pubby PS: Don't throw them out, they may be a winner. pubby
-
Cards will available at locations other than the Rodeo ... but since there will be 10,000 people there (a lot of them kids) ... and we're trying to expand pcom ... this is one place that will make giving out the cards easy. If you don't have a card for Wednesday night, PM me your email, I still have a few of the current (July) card available that I can send out by email. pubby
-
You are correct for the most part. The only error is that the next week's show will ALSO USE THE JULY CARD. The new cards (Top Members CARD) won't be available until August 14th and 15th ... and there will be another 'game' on the 12th. pubby
-
That is absolutely correct. pubby

A couple of things. First, we're going to be at the Rodeo and will be distributing new game cards there. As a twist, rather than presenting 'numbers', we've developed a list of some of PCOM's most prominent members ... here is a sample card. You can see we're going for a 5X5 matrix instead of the larger 7X7 ... that alone should speed up the winning. Second, we will probably do the next PCOM fun game Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. to run until about 8:30 or 9 p.m. This game will use the existing JULY series cards *(7x7 Matrix). With that, you are encouraged to
