  1. I do that often and I've not seen that... really ... What page are you going to and from when it happens? pubby
  2. And we have a special guest coming in ... C. Mark Willix is expected to appear and hopefully, there won't be a rumble between he and pubby. pubby
  3. Let me give a little background on that rule by way of clarification. It is against the rules to point out the grammatical shortcomings of specific individual posters as a form of personal attack - as I have seen done in the past. That said, it is perfectly allowable and appropriate to discuss, in general terms (no specific posters mentioned or in close proximity) proper grammar and English usage. It is through such subtle instruction that people become better writers and ultimately more educated. Education, I might add, does translate into better jobs and more money and I thin
  4. Parting is such sweet sorrow. This too will pass. My prayers are with you John and Haley. pubby
  5. Madea: There is no high road. The only reason the Atlanta media was requesting the information was because the local SO was not talking about the incident at all and apparently did not plan to make a release on the incident. Basic incident reports are useful to journalists only when it comes to finding out if there are some interesting things going on. When I was doing the police beat for a daily newspaper, I'd saunter into the Police Dept and grab the clipboard where the officers placed the incident reports. I'd flip through them reading the narratives which sometimes didn't
  6. Sound Guy: I think the local SO saw that their taking their time getting it out was probably sending the wrong message and if I'm not mistaken, the key info, including the 911 call, have been released. I'll be stopping by tomorrow to get a copy myself. pubby
  7. Austinplantation: I kind of chuckled when I read your topic but I then realized that this is at the core of the entire debate. First, not all suicides are the result of depression. Some suicides are more aptly blamed on a reaction to an event with plain stupidity (brokers jumping out of buildings when the stock market crashed in 1929 comes to mind.) I don't think the Speaker is reacting to a particular incident or some pending, as yet undisclosed embarrassment but is and has been in a funk for a while. While events such as a divorce can set the stage for all sorts of bizarre be
  8. First, it seems you are suggesting he resign, not as speaker, but as the representative of the 19th house district of Georgia. (I knew I should have looked that up earlier). That is almost silly as the the role of an elected representative is to represent folks at a deliberative body. Typically, the only qualification for that is that the person live in the district and be of a certain minimum age. There is no religious, educational, or physical qualification or disqualification for holding office. He is as qualified as a member of the Georgia House today as he was two months ago.

  10. He will absolutely remain the elected representative from Paulding county (23rd house district). He will remain speaker as long as the Republican Party Caucus in the Georgia House elect him to that office. Last year there was a challenge and, I think it was conceded that a few other Republican legislators had a bout with depression as a result of that challenge. The speakers decision to come out and announce his illness and the incident pretty much says that he is not at all eager to give up his job as speaker. From a political view, his admitted depression does make him more
  11. Actually, the issue is simply the state law that establishes that incident reports are public record. It is a tacit violation to not release the report and it appears from the article that the county will, within the three-day limit based on the request, comply with that request to the letter of the law. (I.e. come-by, pick it up and pay 50 cents a page or some such). Those in the media, particularly the metro media, do seek and expect to have positive relations and the SO is also desirous of positive relations. Hence, items like incident reports are routinely provided in a more tim
  12. Thanks Cherokeewoman for that tip. BB: Yes, we're kind of wanting to get folks there a heads up so they can watch the event and because they're part of it, gain even greater pleasure from seeing the home folks playing. As far as folks that hail from other places like Texas ... all they have to do is give a great big hello and Merry Christmas to their friends in Paulding. Of course, those who have more local ties will get the paid and we may use the rest if we need them. pubby

  14. I think the mods saw that I published information from the same release on the Pcom news. I was actually surprised by the major market coverage. I know I had been asking for the release since shortly after the Oct. 14th arrests came out on the board. The DTF was still doing its investigation and the story that broke in Tallapoosa was neither confirmed or denied by the DTF. Since the Tallapoosa Police Chief is not considered a good source for happenings out side Tallapoosa ... I mean he is no authority about things happening in Paulding ... no one picked up the story other than those wh
  15. With 3:51 left in the game, Chamblee shows they're not out of the running and pull with in 8 points of Hiram. Score at present is 28-20 Hiram. pubby
  16. Chamblee scores with 2 minutes left in third quarter to pull within one TD of Hiram. Hiram leads 21-13 Hiram answers chamblee's challrnge with 70 TD pass to move ahead 28-13. pubby
  17. Hiram scores again ... With 2 minutes left in the half, the score is now 21-7 Hornets in the lead. pubby
  18. As the first quarter ended, Hiram and Chamblee were tied 7-all. Hiram, however, began the second quarter on Chamblee's 14 yard line and took the ball and now leads 14-7 with 10:47 left in the half. Hiram was the first to score in the first quarter marching down the field. That said, Chamblee answered that challenge with a scoring drive of their own. pubby
  19. I don't know either ... other than folks probably got snarky. I personally was doing the news which included the official report from the Paulding-Haralson Drug Task Force including photos of the operation. I think one of the purposes in making the release was because the earlier story that ran in Talapoosa's newspaper and came from the Tallapoosa City chief contained inaccuracies that the DTF wanted to correct. For instance, I saw it referenced that there was little or no dope found in the raids where as the report released today referenced over 2300 growing plants and over 40 pound
  20. We actually have video and I believe an interview about the tree taken by Debra Singletary earlier today. It will be in the Pcom news Friday. pubby
