Chief and Asst. Chief at Hiram Police Department resign
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
A reporter has to have sources, Solo. Obviously I had sources who clued me to the fact that there had been a change in Hiram. I've been out here a long time and while I've heard rumors, rumors at best can lead one to ask questions. To get the story, folks with direct knowledge have to be willing to talk and answer questions. Right now, in this regard, no one is talking. What do you suggest, we act like a tabloid newspaper or TV show and offer $10,000 for an exclusive interview with whom? The dynamics and media issues and benefits are not that great here and I won't ask you to -
Chief and Asst. Chief at Hiram Police Department resign
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
BS: The public's right to know would, in my opinion, depend on whether the issues involved directly their public duties or whether the issues were strictly private. For instance, I find the salacious gossip regarding Tiger Wood totally absurd. The guy is a public figure because he can drive a golf ball, not a car. He was not elected to any public office and there is no hint of rape or other possible criminal behavior in any of his private affairs. I therefore find it of such minimal interest what he did, has done, and who he did it with and to as to be totally and utterly disinter -
Chief and Asst. Chief at Hiram Police Department resign
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Rumors folks ... those are rumors and these are real lives. As far as the opportunity to address the issue, the former Chief knows where we are and I would offer either he or the Lt. the opportunity to address the community. pubby -
Chief and Asst. Chief at Hiram Police Department resign Tuesday Hiram Police Chief Johnny Shirley, who ran for sheriff in last year's Republican primary, and his assistant, resigned from their leadership posts at the Hiram Police Department Tuesday, December 15th, said Terrie Holly, city clerk of Hiram. Ms. Holly said, "Yes, there have been two resignations. Chief Johnny Shirley resigned voluntarily and Troy Hendricks, Lt. Troy Hendricks, has resigned voluntarily. Any rumors out there to the contrary are not true. They are voluntary resignations and that is all there is to say."

I got a phone call about an accident apparently involving two red cars, ambulances and gurneys with medics working on the injured that has traffic backed up ... well Curtis couldn't tell because visibility is only about a quarter mile. Given the tie up - the wreck was at the light where Checkers is across 278 from Crist roofing and Wally world. It is advised you avoid 278 through Hiram for at least the next hour. Go north, go south but basically, go around 'cause you're in for a wait if you're headed west on 278. pubby

the way the new PM box works, the pm you send stays in your PM box as a conversation waiting for reply. If you delete the PM in your (the senders) box, then it closes the conversation. I think this may be what is happening. pubby

Got a phone in report of an accident on E. Paulding Drive and Reece Road. It appeared to involve a truck but while traffic was backed up, the scene did not seem like one with serious or life-threatening injuries - maybe no significant injuries at all (no ambulance, no helicopter, etc.). Rather it is just an area you ought to avoid until probably 7:00 p.m. ... and it may explain why your DS is slow getting home if they use that route. pubby

It is now working.... I had to upload the 350mb file three times and it took an hour each time! ENJOY

I too am having trouble with the replay. I just checked the original file (locally - both copies) and they seem fine playing and running in real player without a hitch. I'm suspecting that the upload on blip is just not working right and I'm going to re-upload it. If need be, we'll stream the video live later this evening as a show. Of course a good part of it is already up and playing along with most of the shoutouts. (Actually the live stream is a bonus as the replay was expected to be the main route for viewing.) All I can say is that Murphy is working overtime ... but o

_____________________________ FINALLY IT WORKS! Paulding.com had a technical glitch at the national server level and the recording of the bulk of this years parade failed. With compliments to Terry at Mill Creek, who supplied us with her more than 300 still photos, we created the above, hour-long presentation for your enjoyment. This version does include the beginning and end of this year's parade and some of the colorful side stories, like the interview of Santa and a piece about the Hiram tree lighting, that were successfully recorded. We will have some additional stories ...

Thanks for posting the link. I drove out to the airport about two weeks ago and saw the progress on the terminal building. The county has been approving construction funds for the hangers (grading, pad, paving) all fall long and the airport should start beginning to generate economic activity next year. The real advantage for the county with the hangers is that when a plane is parked here, it is assessed her for property taxes. With valuations of jet-powered corporate aircraft in the millions, the, payoff for the county's investment becomes obvious. But that all pales in comparison

Thanks for the good words about the new skin. The I had set it invisible because of a couple of technical points (although those using it could continue). Got those ironed out and it seems this is the only skin with the right-hand navigation boxes and left side news/tv. The other skins (which used to be the same way - left hand news/tv) were converted to the right hand but lo and behold we were getting folks saying that the news had disappeared ... OH NO! Actually, it hadn't disappeared. Instead, the way the browsers are interpreting the page, it just sent those boxes to the bot

There is also an application for this that would allow you to go 'live' on PCOMTV from where ever you are. Would anyone be interested in being on PCOM TV? pubby PS: I've about made up my mind on this as well. PPS: There are other phones that can work for PCOMTV live links as well including the iphone, some of the blackberries and palm PDA's. Before I can provide the TV thing, I need to get one and get comfortable with it.

I personally find bad grammar more telling than a misspelled word which frankly could be a typo. Embarrassing, yes, but to me the errors that creep in are more a modest admission of our humanity. Bad grammar, on the other hand, is more challenging for me to overlook primarily because it can be confusing. Home for sail ... How big a sail you want for that home? As far as the errors that have crept into the banner ads, I do think folks need to recognize that artists are visual people. I would also caution those who are quick to criticize that the issue of spelling and written

This topic was reported to the mods with the notation that such topics are bound to turn bad and we should make it invisible. That kind of turn in this kind of topic is always possible as there is always someone wanting to show how big a butt they can be. But rather than set it invisible as the person sending the report suggested - I think what we'll do is simply move those posts that are contrary to the positive feeling being exhibited here to another topic. So, if you are the butt head and you want to take this topic negative, save us the trouble and just start your own negati

The account is not locked. A lot of folks have trouble when their user name is not the same as their display name. When they don't match, the issue is using the display name will get you nowhere. If you need help, probably the best idea is to send me an email. pubby

I know for a fact that there are PM reminders sent via email and that you have reminders to be sent by email "on". You do have your email hidden but even that shouldn't make any difference. I would think you're having them sent. What you may need to do is see if you maybe changed your email and didn't tell us or maybe your ISP did decide pcom is spam on their own. (silly them). I really don't think you have them blocked at the server end, but it would appear from the data we have here, you should be getting them. pubby
