  1. Much like a certain public figure once said about another foriegn territory. I know all I need to know about Hiram, after all I can see it from my front porch.
  2. Carefull what you ask for I reckon. All my life I wanted a house in the woods. When the stars finally aligned and this liitle patch of wooded heaven came in to my life things were just ducky. When we had a yard sale this summer a great many folks remarked that they passed by every day and had no idea we were here. But that multi year drought we went thru a while back came along and now I'm living in a blasted mine field. Had to cut several last year but dang. All this year there have been branches the size of small trees falling, bark literally falling off of entire sides of trees show
  3. The fella that was running the fruit stand on Sweetwater Church between Bakers Bridge and SR 92 was good enough to pick some up special at the Farmers Market for me a couple years ago. I have no idea if he's still operating though. Bottom line, unless you know somebody raising cows that has their own corn field, the Market is your only option. Now if a few folks want to get up a decent order I could be persuaded to make a trip if somebody will ride with and help.
  4. Dateline Los Angles, California The George Harrison Memorial Tree has reportedly been killed by beetles. In other news, the Gordon Lightfoot Memorial Yacht has been reported missing after a freak storm on Lake Superior. Possibly taken down by a wave of irony.
  5. So you know as a matter of self awareness, that you just ain't right. (You know who you are!) Down deep and hidden way back in that corner with the dust and the cobwebs on it, sits your own little neurosis or neurosiseses, maybe neurosi, whatever. Every once in a while (or more...who are we to judge) you take it out, dust it off and for lack of a better term........ play with it. So the question is if you know that theres stuff going on up there that just ain't normal, can you still be crazy? Or are you crazy only when you don't know you ain't normal. And is it then ironic that if you're
  6. Your husband is a wise man and you should differ to him in all things. Or not.
  7. If you don't take some joy from something, the stuff flying thru that fan and splattin' you in the face on a daily basis will drive ya nuts. Been suffering for some weeks with a rip in the cushion of my soft toilet seat. Today I installed a new one and I'm just happy from top to bottom. ::snicker:: What you gots today that made you a little happy. New socks maybe? Ain't nothin' like some new socks!
  8. 70's - That 70's Show - Pretty much dead on. 80's and early 90's - Roadhouse - Slightly (very slightly) less violent and don't nobody sew themselves up! Late 90's thru mid/late 00's - Mask - Without Rocky. Now - A semi-jurassic version of The Odd Couple (If Oscar is Oscar and Felix rides a Harley)
  9. With BOA Bill Pay, if the bank has an agreement with the entity to which you wish to make a payment, that entity will be available in the drop down list or when you type in the name you will be prompted that their delivery info is on file. In this case the payment can be made as soon as the next "batching out", usually that will be the next day as the batching is done overnight. The exceprions would be weekends and holidays. If the bank doesn't have this agreement, then you will have to type in all of the delivery info. When you make a payment from your list of payee's to this entity, the
  10. Steve Langley, he's on the west bound side of Bankhead Hwy. In Austell near Wallace BBQ.
  11. I let whoever was singing the praises of those Aldi gyro kits convince me to give them a try. Whoever it was owes me $7. If anyone can't tell how awful those things are compared to.....well......ANY gyro, anywhere, ever...it's time to have a memorial service for the old taste buds.
  12. Went to the heavy artillary this year. Got myself a ping pong paddle. Not only is it WAY more satisfying, the little buggers don't just "get up and shake it off". And the distance you get on'em. My lord the distance!
  13. Theres only so much you as an individual can do for pain relief. What works best and quickest for me is traction followed by the use of a tens unit along with ice. The traction decompresses and the tens and ice act as a pain block. That'll help with the pain, but not much for the tingling and weakness. Theres a set of excersises you can do that'll maybe help some in the long run with those. You can find all this with a google search and some reading. I guess the two long range things that've helped more than anything else was losing a bunch of weight and believe it or not, quiting cig
  14. A gateway is nothing more than the first thing uou come to before entering. Whether it's down by the road or right up at the house. If an addict is bound to enter, they will enter where ever the gate is. There are things out there worth fighting against. I'd just like to see all the effort centered there.
  15. First it was crank that I watched a few folks get carried off by. Then coke took a few more. After that along came crack, that's when they started dropping like flies. Just when you thought this just couldn't be any worse there was ice. That just seemed like it peeled people off of my life just like taking the layers off an onion. Today I sat with an old friend while her son was laying in another room with tubes and wires hooked up to him trying to keep him alive. Because of a drug whose name hasn't even been on my radar since I was a small kid in the 60's watching the news on tv. Folks, i
  16. A fella 'splained it up to me this here way once. He allowed that a body mighta had'em some folks livin' 'roundabouts that ain't just right on the upandup. Now if'n them folks was to go to hear'en some shots goin' off from time to time from a 'ticular piece of land, well them and theirs might'n be as likely to go a visitin' that feller in the dead of night, up to no good. Then again I might just be getting my redneck jollies. Don't know if I'd take a chance on that being the case though.
  17. I made the trip several times today. The folks in the country club that where out looked really annoyed at the traffic. Kinda made it fun. Course I may be a little twisted.
  18. Nebo has been closed since this morning. If it still is you can turn thru the country club and come in from the other side of ingles.
  19. There's hope! It ain't convenient, but it's hope. Try J&R Clothing in Riverdale. If they don't have it, their more likely than anybody else I've ever run across to know how/where to get it for you. There was one of them in Douglasville long ago, but now Riverdale is the best option. Calling first might not be a bad idea. As far as jeans with a 38 inseam, that's probably gonna be tough. I'm a 36 so theres been a lot of time searching in that neighborhood. The only option I know of whould be the old style board stiff jeans. They call them "shrink to fit" jeans now. You can get them w
  20. Truly hope I'm wrong and maybe somebody with better connections to the old days can make absolutely sure. Found an obituary for Darlene Millholland who would be just the right age living in the right place. It says that Darlene passed on 12/22/13. There is only one person I've ever heard of with that name and only one comes up nationwide when you google it. And that's only fitting, because the lady was absolutely one of a kind. We/you/I would have known her as Dolly, the past owner of Dolly's West on Austell Rd. If it's true one place or the other has just gotten louder, showier and a
  21. Best I can tell just from the view at the intersections, theres nothing left but permanent striping (pre-lining appears to be done) before opening to traffic. That would be the good news. The bad news would be that the striping is most likely thermoplastic. For which theres a minimum temperature for application. Which is why most striping contractors lay off during the winter, which means limited crews who will be pre-scheduled for work in warmer climes. So unless there's significant monetary incentive brought to bear by either the contract or subcontract, I'm betting end of March to m
