  1. Yes 92 is a State Route. The widening north of Douglasville is the last of 4 contracts to be let. The first 3 are the bridges (Bankhead Hwy. and the railroad), the relocation south of the bridges and the relocation north. If you plunder around the GDOT website you can find the let date and the proposed completion date. What might be news is that widening through Hiram, the last that I knew, is not planned. Most likely you will see 92 shift over to one section or the other of the bypass. The last proposal I knew of was the east side. But that's not complete from SR 6 north sooooo.......
  2. Google(ing?) turned up 4 reviews already and this quote describing the menu. "Authentic Chicago eats like the Original Chicago Dawg, real Gyros off the spit, homemade fresh Italian Beef sandwiches & Italian Sausages on Turano rolls, fresh cut fries, Maxwell style polshes/pork chops & burgers." I understand from the reviews that the only way to order the Italian Beef is "dipped".
  3. What do you call a dog with no legs.......it don't matter..................it ain't come'n.
  4. You can always tell you're getting old if you've ever stood in front of a mirror naked and wondered if "Just for Men" would work on that.
  5. Let's try any easy one. Finish this: "You can always tell..... " You can always tell when you're the only one that does anything around the house when you need to make a store run for cat food and rat poison.
  6. If you want to know whats going on get the answers to these. You get one or more people to fill in the answer to all these questions and you can figure out exactly who, what, when and where is responsible. What is the current overall completion date? What was the original overall completion date? What contract ammendments were added (if any) and how did each affect the overall completion date? What is the penalty if the overall completion date is not met? Where there any interim completion dates included in the original terms of the contract? If so, what were they and where they met?
  7. Not what I meant. I haven't seen the staging plans, but if they are going to maintain traffic thru the intersection (without allowing some expensive temporary constrtuction) I would imagine they will be lowering one side then the other. I'm betting on a similar closure for the other side since a 5' grade reduction is going to have to tie in pretty far west of the intersection as well..
  8. You might want to prepare for more than just the two weeks of hassle. That's just the first installment. There's more than one spoke to that wheel.
  9. There are other things yet to be done on Nebo (ie: striping and shoulder reconstruction) besides any turn lane paving that night be left. They have, to the best of my memory, by contract 7-10 days after paving is complete on the striping. The shoulders could wait all the way up to the contract completion date.
  10. Ray Taylor announced today. Crap......."Going"
  11. It won't help any, but in the things could be worse department... Years ago I was handed a project to build that had been sitting on a shelf due to lack of funding. The property for the project was bought as much as 20 years earlier. Not a single adjacent property was still occupied by the same folks. So very literally an entire neighborhood looked up one day to see folks start digging up what many of them thought was their yards.
  12. Breaking eggs to make omlets, but it sure can suck when the yolks on you!
  13. It's easy to uderstand the frustration, to some degree the problem is everywhere. There's a prime example to be seen by walking to the edge of my lot, that only affects me and a hand full of houses that back up to that same property. That being said I accept the system that I live under because it's exactly what I sought out. The further the level of government from the people the looser must be the enforcement of the will of that government. The system at the county level gives you more freedom of what you can do on your property. And the checks and balances at that level insure that one
  14. Saw a guy walking 92 heading south on the northbound side around Gotcha Lookin Good yesterday mid-afternoon. I figured he was changing trains from the Hiram line to D'ville but he could have been local. He had a dog on a leash and I believe a harness as opposed to a collar. If it was him, and y'all see a wandering dog with a harness in that area he could probably use some help.
  15. As of 6 or 7 years ago everything about Pravino's in D'ville had gone down hill severely. All at once it went from one of my favorite places to the point I can't tell you anything about it or even how long it might have been closed. When I say everything, I mean every possible aspect that can go bad, went all at once.
  16. Donnie's Automotive on Hiram-Suddie behind the Grands at the SR 92 intersection. One of, if not the most honest men I've ever met.
  17. 93 was the only year that I was scheduled to be off of snow duty. The phone rang and like an idiot I answered it. The blizzard was already in full swing by then. It took 4 1/2 hours to get from 75 and Delk to Douglasville. Never saw another vehicle on 285 the whole way. No tracks, nothing. You couldn't tell were the wall was or the outside shoulder. No idea where on the road you were driving. Thought I was the only person on earth. I don't even remember how long it was before I got home that year. I was in the original "snow jam" too. Think that was 82. Horrible memories.
  18. If you're cheering for snow you've never held a job where even the threat of snow triggers 12 hour shifts. 12 on and 12 off from before it starts until well after it ends. And that includes every time the weather guy is wrong. Try that for 30 years and you'll sing an entirely different tune.
  19. Large amount of stuff going on yesterday, in and around the neighborhood around Nebo and the golf course. About 11 am I look out to see some random guy standing in the backyard talking on a cell phone. Go out and run him off. 11:30 look out the bedroom window and there's a deputy, gun in hand, walking thru the front yard. Figure it's about the random guy but no, he's looking for an entirely different random guy who has apparently run thru my property. Just about noon half of the deputies that had gathered up in the hood take off lights and sirens. I'm thinking this has to be one of the two b
  20. Please, please, please. If anyone sees a couple, single or group of people they don't recognize looking in the windows of my house, be they black, white, purple or pokadot, assume that thievery IS their intention and act accordingly.
  21. Unless the car was trying to run him down or the tire fired frst, shooting a gun with possible innocent targets 360 degrees around you ought to get you charged with something. Maybe stupidity in the first degree.
  22. One of the biggest, prettiest Ribeye Steaks you've ever seen. As a matter of fact i have two, just in case theres a lonely steak lovin' older gal out there on thanksgiving. Note: Must bring your own teeth, I'd let you use mine but they'll be busy.
  23. That's some guys revenge on a gurl whats done him wrongs what that is. Bet it didn't look like a girls handwriting did it?
  24. Lot's of very large roads that seem to really go nowhere the old roads didn't, with nothing on them. Right next to an expanded interstate intechange. Believe the attraction is "Build it (next to an interstate) and they will come".
