  1. Matter of fact, I believe there's a sub office near Tractor Supply off 278 in Dallas if that's closer, Probably be just as likely.
  2. Just a hunch, have no way of knowing for sure, but I'd bet if you were to stop by the office on Bankhead Hwy. you might be able to pick one up.
  3. Would you rather have your riff raff all in one area where you can keep an eye on them, or spread out thin and you don't know what their up too? I've been under cover riff raffing out here for years. Hell I may be recruiting and forming riff raff cells. We'll eventually come out of hiding and take over your society. If you mean poor folks, say poor folks. And yes, there's a whole heap of problems that come along with poor folks. Open a business a see if a couple of'em can't be dragged up out of the riff.....or is it the raff......can't ever keep that straight. I'll just go check the Riff Raff
  4. Daddy also had a habit of letting poke salad grow on our little plot. It would end up being just about enough for a "mess". Didn't try it then, ain't gonna now. For those of you who don't know, poke salad (Phytolacca americana, American pokeweed) is a poisonous weed that, if not prepared exactingly, will make you sick enough to wish you was dead. When really old, really sick, really poor people ate enough of it, well things happen you know. And legends are born. But still, it's a poisonous weed, kind of makes you understand that if you was to look up poor white trash in the dictionary it'd
  5. He seems to be a nice enough fellow, but I wouldn't go so far as to celebrate'em.
  6. Raw meat of any kind. My ancestor froze his ass off in a cave until he invented fire, accidently burned something and liked the smell. He lived to be 15, his daddy only made 12. I ain't goin' back.
  7. 212It was the Weather Channels 24 hour radar and local weather on a loop.
  8. Probably don't count, but when I was little my daddy used to eat scrambled eggs with pig brains garnished with ketchup. Not only never tried it, but used to have to leave the room.
  9. You have no idea, given the givens of this time of year, whether or not the mail carrier working your route the day you pick to do this is your regular person. The days of one carrier working one route everyday no matter what are no more. Just sayin', knock yourself out though.
  10. Yeah.....Bill's still alive. Bwahaha!
  11. Watched episode 1 of season 2 on demand last night and laughed 'til my belly hurt. If you haven't seen this thing you have to check it out over the holidays.
  12. Well pleased with my Original Mattress Factory queen size. For all the reasons they say in their commercials. It's every word true. Kind of like buying Craftsman tools.
  13. Know what you get when you tell somebody with questionable decision making skills that they have to clean up the garbage in their yard? An unattended garbage fire, comprised of wet garbage. Now there's an attractive smell. Did I mention it's about 30' from the shed with both my bikes in it? If everything wasn't soaking wet I'd be drawed up tighter'en Dicks hatband. At least they've uncovered the boat from the bow back to the windshield. Interested to see what's next. The pile had actually grown since I contacted the Marshalls Office just shy of 4 months ago.
  14. It's not what your used to, but if the chance comes along try the chili at La Fiesta Mexican. Good stuff.
  15. Yes'm. From our conversations I knew about where you were. You've always been how I know whats going on down to that end of the road in this kinda thing. I'm exactly half way between you and 92. What we need is a neighbor from that end of the road and we'd have it all covered.

  17. It was about 43 hours here. Just the perfect storm of stupidity caused there to be no way out other than walking for the first 24, otherwise I wasn't worried. I mean for over 30 years I was one of the folks that went out into it for a living after all. Hell, as a young'un, I was broke enough to be forced into some extended "urban camping" thru this kind of cold. This one taught me that even being prepared to take care of yourself can just not be enough. No heat what so ever. Apparently the inside of the house didn't get below freezing for any length of time, I left a glass of water out to chec
  18. To all the folks that drove by and thought I was nuts sitting at the end of my driveway in the cold. There's a power crew in that driveway now, so thppppppppt. Yeah that's right. I sat next to the road and threw my body in front of the truck, but it worked!
  19. Well turn and face Nebo and wave, neighbor.
  20. Having run out of patience, I set out this morning to find me a Greystone Supervisor. Having worked some with these folks I knew that if you ask them the question in their language, your apt to get a better answer. Well I found one. If you are in south Paulding and still without power rejoice, for they have started on the tap lines. These are the service lines running off the mains. That's the upside. The downside is that damage is harder to spot, spread out and labor intensive. But hey, at least I know they're a mile down the road and headed this way.
  21. Still nothing. 24 hours in. I'm seeing forecasts of 18 to 24 for the low tonight.
  22. Not as of an hour ago they weren't. On the south end, all I found open were the waffle houses, Chinese places and BB's.
  23. It's in the 40's. The roads are fine. It's the trees that won't cooperate.
