  1. I have no idea ma'am. Seems like that sort of thing would be news. I remember when there used to be news here. But unless the news item lends itself to furthering a chance to argue politics, it ain't news here anymore.I guess our resident reporter has moved onto being a "Specialist". Or maybe I'm just crabby from lack of sleep.........no...........it's that first thing.
  2. Getting ready to pack it in for the night and I look up to see lights in the mirror. That mirrors there because if you hit the end of the driveway at night with your lights on, I know you're here. I have a wide drive so folks will turn around in it and that's what I'm expecting when I get up to look..... NOPE. It's flashlights coming up on the porch and massive numbers of flashing blues at the end of the driveway. So I happen to open the door about the same time the cops about to knock. The cops like 500ft from his car in the dark walking up on a porch unannounced when the door flies open, so
  3. You'll remember it. Heavy rotation on the radio back when. Same over produced vocals. When You Close Your Eyes https://g.co/kgs/Ga6Jpj
  4. I always insisted that my folks call in to be out.
  5. Don't Tell Me You Love Me Rock in America When You Close Your Eyes Synthesized unadulterated sugar coated pop crap every one. The only reason there was ever a straight male in one of their crowds was ..... well....you know what it was.
  6. One of the first of the "hair bands" that came along in the late 70's into the 80's. They are responsible for such pieces of pop crap like this:Sister Christian https://g.co/kgs/B2MmNC
  7. Well my point was more that Night Ranger really, REALLY, sucks. Granted I intended the subtext about the difference in the usage. And kinda hoped somebody might bring up the comparison of one being built in the heart of a town and used to draw folks to an area filled with small businesses (shops, eateries, bars) that are encouraged by local government. And the other, built at a realatively isolated government complex to promote, I guess, government?
  8. Tomorrow night in downtown Villa Rica at their government built amphitheater, Atlanta Rhythm Section, FREE. Next weekend at our government built amphitheater, Night Ranger, $20? I ain't just real sure you could pay me $20 to sit thru a Night Ranger show.
  9. It's a little worse than that. For the past while folks have been getting scam calls from their own number: https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/life/money/news/a46197/phone-scam-own-number/ (Repeated info below pleas ignore if you've heard it before.) Again, get a number (any number from a plethora of next to no cost VOIP providers) to use when asked for a call back number by anyone that is not simply a private individual. With no device attached to it to bother you. Fake calls almost never leave a message and real calls that do are transcribed to text that shows up as easily dismissed noti
  10. I don't know how to link a topic from this board so.... Look back at "New Burger and Hot Dog Joint" from April,2.
  11. The co-pilot of a Chinese airliner was sucked halfway out of the cockpit, even though he was belted in when the windscreen of his plane shattered. This after a woman was killed from being sucked halfway out of a fuselage window? Putting some thought into the latter. Those windows are small, whichever half went out (I haven't had the heart to look it up) went into a wind stream of several hundred miles an hour, straight back at about 90 degrees to the window. That's not pretty at all. It's a one in a billion chance, but dang.
  12. If anybody has someone come in to do work on the south end of the county please say something on here. I looked up at a spot I guess I've just missed somehow and got a surprise. Right above and next to where two vehicles are parked is a stone cold dead pine tree that's got to be 65ft. tall and only 40ft from the house. Weighted towards the house with what looks to be a rotted twisted spot 7ft off the ground. No way I'm touching this thing. But getting somebody to come for one tree is going to be impossible.
  13. Just an observation. Why is this one of those services that people just don't freely discuss what they paid for it? There are others, I know that this is not an isolated thing with this subject, but it would probably do more to keep folks from getting ripped off by the few bad actors in the business than anything else we could do. Every situation is different when it comes to trees, but a brief description of the situation, what they took down and what it costs would be uber helpful. Maybe we're all a little afraid we paid too much and don't want to admit it. But that just hurts the next guy.
  14. Stop Testing: Chinese geologists say North Korea nuclear test site collapsed, may explain end of program. http://google.com/newsstand/s/CBIwuOTCpzg
  15. I have a feeling he won't see prison. At least not prison, prison.
  16. If, heaven forbid, I were ever to need this, with my luck they'd "short list" me for the surgery. (barumpbumpching)
  17. Just the law of averages and beggars can't be choosers and murphy's law and all that............. he probably didn't even get a pretty one.
  18. You may have noticed a running thread in my comments. No call list or not, every time you give that number out to anyone other than a private individual, it's subject to be added to a database and sold. So basically it's us bringing it on ourselves for not gaurding it like SSN. The robocalls that just dial random four digits after an area code and prefix don't care about the list either.
  19. Just a thought. This isn't going to provide you much relief unless you change your everyday phone number. That's out there and there's no getting it back. Even if you stop using it for forms and such, it'll continue to be used by the ones that already have it and it'll continue to be sold. I started both cell and VOIP at the same time. That's your only way to make it work right.
  20. Yeah, go cheap. If you're using it for what I use it for that is.I may not have been real clear. There is no phone even connected to my VOIP service. That would kinda defeat my particular purpose. There fine if you want to use them for that. But my whole purpose with it is to eliminate as many crap calls that I even hear a ring on as possible.
  21. Yes you can call Canada on all of them I've seen.I see more WhatsApp phishing emails than all the others. Facebook has proven to be, as I've said forever, the debil.
  22. My solution is that nowadays there are ways to get a VOIP phone number for next to nothing. I put that number on any and all forms, call back numbers, etc. It doesn't ring anywhere that I can hear it. If the caller is for real they'll leave a message. That message is immediately converted to text and emailed to me which immediately shows up as a notification on my cell, so no worries. If their not for real there won't be a message, they've wasted their time and I don't even know they've called unless I go back and look. As for the cell, anybody the phone doesn't know I don't answer.
  23. These things drive me nuts and I'd always figured it was something like this. But it was interesting, I thought, to get a little more of the details of it: http://www.news10.com/news/national/prevention-for-receiving-robocalls-similar-to-your-phone-number/1128830483
