  1. That is wonderful news and I wish them the best! My son played baseball at East Paulding High School and in 2002, their high school summer league won the Dizzy Dean High School Division World Series in Mississippi. They actually lost their very first game and came back all the way through the loser's bracket to win the World Series - very exciting to watch! After that first game we thought we were going to be coming home pretty quickly but we were wrong - we were there about another week. I know of at least one more Paulding County team that has won the Dizzy Dean World Series sinc
  2. Then maybe you can elaborate and tell us specifically how you know for a fact as I am being told otherwise. Thank you in advance.
  3. I don't believe CPR is a member of the Steering Committee. I know there has been speculation; however, I truly believe this information is not accurate. I am relatively sure that I know who CPR is and if I am correct, he / she is not a member of the Committee.
  4. I am beginning to think this might be the best thing to do. We were in Atlanta earlier today and witnessed someone driving all over the road while on their cell phone. Not only were they talking on their cell phone while they were driving, they were very animated during the conversation and using all kinds of hand gestures at the same time and taking their eyes off the road and off the steering wheel. I love the law they have in Texas that imposes a very stiff fine if you are caught talking on your cell phone as you are driving through a school zone.
  5. I thought the same thing. Congratulations on the new baby ducks!
  6. You know, at least Pubby had the guts to run for an elected office instead of just sitting on his tail and complaining all the time. I commend him for the time, dedication and sacrifice he put into his campaign and for striving to make a difference.
  7. Chick Fil-A is obviously doing a lot of things right! The two stores in Paulding County are operated by a very good man who has made very positive impacts in Paulding County. Class act operation all the way around!
  8. That is beautiful! My husband is a "Mustang Freak" and will love seeing a picture of this. Here is a picture of his 2010 Ford Mustang Shelby Cobra GT 500. We don't drive it a lot as he considers it an "investment". It is fun to drive though and would be very easy to get one of those fast driving awards in.
  9. I LOVE this story. I'm sad that the precious little baby girl passed away but I am very encouraged and happy about the acts of kindness shown by strangers to this family. What a wonderful tribute to this precious angel!
  10. Congratulations to your sweet and handsome grandson. I wish for him the very best!
  11. I just noticed on my birthday list on Facebook that Thad's birthday is today. I hope that he is feeling much better today - that would be a great birthday gift! Continuing to pray for Thad, Melissa and family. Praying that despite this setback, Thad will have a complete, speedy recovery.
  12. My thoughts and prayers are with you surepip and family.
  13. After seeing a copy of the letter from Mayor Reed's Chief of Staff, I ask some questions. From what I am being told, upon receipt of this letter, copies of the actual deeds were pulled from the deed records to confirm and this information is incorrect. From what I am being told, there are no such restrictions as implied in the letter from Mayor Reed's Chief of Staff.
  14. No Whitey, I don't know a lot about this event. I wasn't involved in the planning nor did I attend the event. The only information I have is from several people that I know that actually attended the event and it came up in casual conversation. Any event that is held to benefit our Veterans is fine with me. Whether it be one dollar or one million dollars that was raised, it was a good thing for our community and a good thing for our Veterans.
  15. I like Amelia Island okay. The water is not gorgeous but the island is quite nice. We stayed several times a few years ago at Amelia Island Plantation which I believe is now owned by Omni Hotels and Resorts. The resort was very nice and quiet and beachfront. Hope you have a great time wherever you decide to go!
  16. I wasn't there but I understand there was a good crowd over the 2 days. As far as I know, this was the first time this event has been held in Paulding. As for the $75.00 you mention above Whitey, I believe that was money made solely from the tee shirt sales, not the entire proceeds made at the event. I think this is a fantastic event and a great way to support our Veterans. I'm sure it will get better with each year it is held.
  17. I dearly love Savannah - just about everything about it! True story - did you know that Lady Chablis (from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil) still performs quite frequently at Club One in Savannah? I've never seen the show but that is on my list of things to do.
  18. Such a tragic weather event and the town of Pilger, Nebraska has been devastated. Per the Stanton County Nebraska Sheriff's Department, donations needed are basic items such as toiletries, non perishable food items and bottled water. The donations can be sent to: Our Savior Lutheran Church of Norfolk Nebraska (402) 371-9005 or Urgent Care of Norfolk (402) 844-3830 or 1-800-Red-Cross www.redcross.org
  19. I agree - what a neat program and what a great thing for the PCSO to do! Like you, I hope these kids will pass along the information to their friends and siblings because even if it saves one life or saves one child from doing drugs, it will be worth it. I commend the PCSO and everyone involved for taking on this endeavor. Thanks for posting Pubby!
  20. I feel like a part of my childhood is gone......... RIP Casey - you have made so many good memories for so many people!
  21. I am so sorry to hear about this SS. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers and if there is anything I can do to help you all, please let me know. 40 years of marriage.......wow! I'm sure there have been lots of wonderful memories made during that 40 years and I hope that these memories will comfort you and your family.
  22. My guilty pleasure is watching "Family Guy." This show humors and shocks me at the same time - sometimes I feel really, really guilty for watching it.
