You are correct N-Girl some guys are going about it all wrong, My wife and I have two elementary aged children that need providing for, that being said I would prefer to insure getting the job, rather than hoping I could ride on the profits from it.

Being a licensed contractor, I know that charging that much money for finishing a basement sounds like that particular contractor didn't really want the job in the first place. With the economy like it is there are far too many of us who would jump at the opportunity to do the job for a more economical price. "supply and demand" theory at its finest. By the way I always buy my work trucks used, and a Hummer does not make a very good work related vehicle.

Would it be possible to combine some bus routes, and cut back on the number of busses being used on a daily basis? Every morning and every afternoon, I have yet to see a full bus, and if you happen to drive by a school in the morning or afternoon, it is pretty apparent that most kids ride the mommy bus. That could be one of the first areas to look at as a cost cutting measure.

Why? Are you sagging a little? All you need is little excercise.
