  1. I agree! My son won't be getting his license when he turns 16, he'll get it when I feel that he's ready. I plan to do driver's ed, teach him through use of his permit. I also want to find something that brings home the dangers of DUI and distracted driving, like a trip to the morgue to see what happens when you do. We will also be getting this: http://www.txtblocker.com/
  2. cabbage Patch, pound puppies, jean jackets, LA Gear Brat sneakers, jean jackets, hypercolor tshirts.
  3. The Fish morning show asked for special prayer request this morning for Zack and his parents. I was in the car with my son and he asked why, and we were able to have a conversation about what a responsibility it is to be a safe driver. I actually teared up when they said that Zack was this family's only child. A BIG THANK YOU TO THE FISH!!
  4. We didn;t have the Furby, we had Teddy Ruxben!!
  5. There are two victims. Even if one was by poor choice, it's rare that these choices are made anticipated for this outcome. Before too much judgment starts, we should all think back to those ages and get real about whether or not we've driven when we shouldn't have. By the grace of God, we got away with it, whether that be once or every weekend. Understand that at 18, we're all idiots to an extent. Sometimes we feel pressure to meet curfew, sometimes we're the "most sober", sometimes we think we're okay - regardless, I doubt the kid planned to murder that night. Which is why I wi
  6. I have a cricket that is DETERMINED to live in my house. He's come in the last 2 nights, and I've displaced him back to the backyard twice. I found out where's he's coming in, but haven't had the time to caulk, so I've "blocked" the area off...but he's back. I can't kill a cricket, it's a big no no in the Asian culture, but this dang thing is driving me CRAZY. Thank you for letting me vent, I'm going to go google "cricket food". Funny story, DSO had a cricket that lived TWO WEEKS in the house and he couldn't find it. It's maddening!!!
  7. Good luck. They may be out there, but there's also a ton of competition. Not to make you more nervous, but job seekers need to be diligent.
  8. I like Mighty Beans and Sillybanz because there's a "trading" element, like baseball cards. But, all this other crap? I've bought every freaking toy on tv I think, we have bendaroos, pixos, paperoni, moon and aqua sand...I finally said enough is enough. He'll play with them for a week and then they just sit in the playroom. I don't get the guitar thing, though I've watched the demo. My response, "how about learning to play the REAL guitar you have???"
  9. I do not remember so many fads when I was young, every week it seems like my 8 year old has a new one!! Just this year we've had Mighty Beans, Bayblades, silly bands and now he won't stop talking about some paper guitar. I can;t keep up...paper guitars? Really?
  10. You can google fifty eleven different recipes for cleaning products. Truth is that outside of laundry detergents, your household cleaning products have no impact on the environment. I'm sure LGM can chime in on this and help you be a little more "crunchy", because in reality "green cleaning" on a household scale is just that...crunchy. Chemicals are not nearly as harmful as consumption.
  11. Was this for mental or porcelain? Are there any differences? His teeth are actually pretty straight so I might look at the invisalign teens too.
  12. This is so wonderful to know!! I thought that they may have been sending me prematurely. My insurance picks up 50%, so I'm counting on my portion being about $8,000. Does that sound about right?
  13. At my son's last cleaning, I asked how many more teeth he had to lose (he's because I want to have a realistic idea of when I can put braces on him. Much to my surprise, the dentist told me that I can go now for my consultation. I was thrilled since I want them on as early as possible. How old were your kids?
  14. DC has so much to offer - there's racial tension, financial tension, the token gay stylist, it's awesomeness.
  15. This is my new favorite!!! Does anyone watch?
  16. "Prayers" are often said for self serving reasons or simply to "go through the motions". How useless is "Lord, please bless this food for the nourishment of our body"? Rarely do we pray heartfelt messages, but rather go through the motions. Still, we should bless the sinner and the saint - we are all just one perfect circumstance away from imperfection. How is it that NC and I are like peas and carrots, but TC and I are like oil and water? Pcom perplexes me.
  17. I am starting decompression therapy tomorrow and I was wondering how long, typically, it takes to see results.
  18. I hope that she is okay. If anyone hears updates, please post. Terribly tragic accident, I for one will be reminding my son of how important it is not to walk on a road without a sidewalk.
  19. Have a great night. While maybe we don't have view points in complete agreement, the most important thing is to keep the dialogue open. Only then will we be able to steer our youth in better directions, where ever they fall on the rainbow.
  20. Call me crazy, but it seems like you're saying that there is such a thing as a stereotypical black boy (and there is, just like there's a stereotypical redneck)...BUT, when I say it, I'm racist. Am I correct? ETA: You should look at your profile, 4/5 posts were complaints.
  21. Well, I'm glad that you have a place to vent about your frustrations with school...honestly, if you're that frustrated, you can always do private school, since you have so much money and all. Of course, that would mean prioritizing your children over your Mercedes. And we're full circle, folks!
