  1. We'vw had the scooter debate before and many of the same points came up. I definitely rethought my position, though Disney is still the one place where is really out of hand. I know that they;re expensive, so I have to think that this new population must be using insurance.
  2. My son doesn't want to go to The Sound of Music - he won't stop talking about Sun Valley Beach, the place we've spent every weekend this summer. And that makes me . I will be happy when he grows out of this selfish phase.
  3. It only runs through Sunday. Performances are at 2 and 8pm on Sat and Sun. Don't forget the Ritz and the Four Seasons downtown do high tea, so if you go to the 2pm, you guys can have tea before the show!
  4. Take her to see The Sound of Music. Tickets are still available and start at $20. You can hunt the internet for more discounts.
  5. No, it's not a horror movie at all. I don't like horror flicks either, it's a psychological thriller with some supernatural overtones.
  6. None of them were great. Shutter Island and Law Abiding Citizen are the best Red Box movies that I've seen lately.
  7. Necessary or not, ONE THIRD of the folks that I see riding them are under 60. That's pretty alarming. And I'm wondering if they're just too easily obtained? The reason that I asked is because I saw a commercial on TV, but all the riders were depicted as elderly and feeble. Of course they say, "we'll do all the paperwork for you", which means "we know the right medical coding to scam your insurance". The ones at Disney boggle me. The idea of the morbidly obese wanting to go to a theme park boggles me. Especially when you start seeing the airlines and theme parks being sued because they
  8. A shepherd was herding his flock in a remote pasture when suddenly a brand-new BMW advances out of the dust cloud towards him. The driver, a young man in a Broni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses and YSL tie, leaned out of the window and asked the shepherd, "If I tell you exactly how many sheep you have in your flock, will you give me one?" The shepherd looked at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looked at his peacefully-grazing flock and calmly answered, "Sure." The yuppie parked his car, whipped out his notebook and connected it to a cell phone, then he surfed to a NA
  9. I have noticed recently that scooters are being used less by the elderly and more by the obese. I'd say that one third of the power wheelchairs that I see are being utilized by overweight people under 60. Has anyone else noticed it? Maybe it's just the stores I frequent.
  10. $5 per box, $5 for DVR per box. I have 3 boxes, one of which has a DVR and I have the package you mentioned and after taxes and crap, my bill is about $65/month. If you want premium packages (HBO, Showtiems) they are $12 each. And, since I provided all that info for your buying choices - please give me your referral. There is an installation fee and a one year contract which runs about $100, but they run special to make this $50 or so...if not free.
  11. Now, now...LPPT, you know that kind of enforcement depends on the poster OnDemand allows you to watch all your premium channel's movies at any time, as well as all other channels. We have a DVR on our DirectTV as well, but it does require you to know what you want to watch, only records 2 at a time, and you have to pay some attention to disc space. At the other house, we can just peruse thousands of selections whenever. I'm indifferent - but before long time Comcast folks jump ship and sign that year long contract with DirectTV, they should be aware of the differences .
  12. This is such a sad story... http://www.11alive.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=151530&catid=3 Apparently, the Phantom of the Fox really needs assisted living conditions, so they may be asking him to leave. I'm wondering how I can get that freaking apartment!! 3600 sq feet?? at the Fox?? And it's just as FABULOUS as the theater!
  13. If you are a big user of On Demand, you will be very disappointed. We have DirectTV down here and Comcast at the house up north. They're very different.
  14. Hav them contact Georgia Works. http://www.dol.state.ga.us/spotlight/sp_georgia_works.htm I understand that they run programs (federal) that not only retain unemployment but also pay for the school. I went to a seminar and it was a fairly painless process, though you can't get a bachelors - just an AA. This was in Cobb, but Georgia Works is where I started. I know that they had a Paulding program.
  15. YAY!!! I love mushy! You have a goodun! Good for you - it's all about the "little things" Here's 20 years and counting, LPPT!
  16. I put up a poll. Go vote!! I want to start a new book (I'll put Reliable Wife on the shelf - I'm not into a period piece right now).
  17. That's it! Bookworm, you should suggest 3 for us to pick from. Maybe we can do the first few chapters by the middle of September? How does a book club work?
  18. Ditto. We can use the poll feature to vote on a book. The Reliable Wife is kinda erotic, so that might not be the best first for the group.
  19. I'm SO in!! I just started The Reliable Wife...if anyone wants to read along with me! Bookworm, maybe you could offer a discount to pcom members on the book of the month?
  20. Especially geese, those things are evil. Thanks to you, I no longer like peacocks, which is strange for me...not to like any member of the cock family. I love roosters.
  21. the series is AWESOME! Though my favorite was the first. I love books like that, but have a hard time finding what it is I want to read. I haven't read Water for Elephants yet...but I want to. What do you think of my suggestions? Would you participate in a Pcom Book Club?
