Here let me try to help. If a kid thinks that all they have to do is show up and they still get a passing grade (participation trophy) then why would they go for the best test scores (Championship trophy)? After all it really doesn't matter b/c they are not allowed to fail.

Four kids???? Now that's sad. I think I would have had to have a sit down with not only the parents but, the board as well. Yes, it's always "fire the coach" yet, would any of them step up and coach? Obviously not. Kids are not allowed to fight their own battles. They have mom/dad and teachers interfering. They are not allowed to figure it out for themselves. Yes, we do coddle our kids. Get into a school yard scuffle and there is the teacher. If you are the victim of bulling and you finally have enough you get into trouble too. On the Rec field, if your parents think you are a superstar they try to bully the coach into letting you play where they think you should play. Yes, our kids are coddled. In Rec ball, yes every kid gets a shot. Yes, everyone plays. Yes, it is for learning. Unfortunately there are parents who think their kid is the superstar. To them I would ask, "if you think they are so great, why aren't they playing for the travel team
