  1. The board is not answering any questions. I called and was told there will be meetings at all schools affected where parents can answer questions. I specifically asked about a grandfather clause, and was told to direct the question to the individual school.
  2. I would definitely contact the SO and speak to a detective. They may have other complaints on file, and this could help with their investigation. I'm so glad you were able to advise your daughter against this!
  3. I'm the same way. I'm often "accused" of being overprotective. My motto: I work hard so my child's guardian angel doesn't have to!
  4. I completely agree! And I'd like to add: I can only imagine how hard the last couple of days have been for our emergency personnel. I've listened to the scanner, and what I am most impressed with is how each of them handles every call with professionalism and courtesy. Way to go! :clapping:
  5. When I saw this topic title, I thought you were inquiring about the services provided by a commerce member here (who posted in this thread!)
  6. They brought in another deputy from the Hwy 61 side to stop traffic before getting to that area because of it. There's another area on Buchanan Hwy with about a dozen cars trapped in a "valley" in the road. A deputy is one of the cars. A DOT truck turned over on Hwy 381 just a little bit ago. Listening to the scanner, I can't believe how bad it is. They can't dispatch one wreck before calling out another. Please stay home!!!
  7. One of my FB friends just posted info, but I'm afraid to repeat it in case I'm wrong!
  8. I would give him water and juice - and stay at home!!! It is extremely dangerous out there on ALL the roads. Numerous wrecks are coming in. Please don't try to drive. I hope your son feels much better soon!
  9. I'm just givin' ya a hard time. If it wasn't such an important date ( )I wouldn't have said anything!
  10. From nixle: Advisory Message has been issued by the Paulding County Sheriff's Office. Thursday January 7, 2010 21:41 PM EST Most roadways have already begun to ice over. We are working multiple traffic accidents Most of the roads (if not all) have already begun to ice over. We are working multiple traffic accidents as a result. Here are just a few of the more serious problem areas. Austin Bridge Rd Cartersville Hwy (Hwy 61N) Sweetwater Church Rd Ridge Rd Winn Rd Cohran Store Rd Goldmine Rd Macland Rd Mulberry Rock Rd These are just a few of the more se
  11. That makes NO sense. And I would think they are setting themselves into a position of great liability by forcing their employees to report in dangerous conditions. I'm sorry - no job is worth the risk! I will pray safety for your SIL tonight!
  12. We may not have school on the 8th of October this year, either, but this is January! (Tomorrow's my birthday, so it's important to get it right!)
  13. I've had a lot of fun today joking about the weather, and I know it's something we all "know" - to be extremely careful. But this is not just snow. Unless it's an emergency, stay home! Back during the ice storm in January 1994, my brother insisted that he had to go to work. He could not miss for any reason - ice or not. He was careful, but a woman coming the opposite way slid into his lane, and hit my brother head on. After the impact, everyone appeared that they would be okay. My brother, thankfully, escaped serious injury. The woman, however, died later that morning from intern
  14. I just heard them say that the RR department is doing this to keep the gear warm, and that they'll be lighting them all night! I had never heard of this before!
  15. Deputies working a wreck (with an overturned vehicle) advised that the road was iced over.
  16. There was a wreck with injuries on Cartersville Hwy a while ago. They advised a few minutes ago that they were shutting it down for the time being. (I don't know if that's due to the weather, or because they need to get the vehicle out of the ditch.)
  17. Principals are calling teachers now.
  18. As far as I know, school for Paulding has NOT been canceled. However, listening to the scanner, it's hard to believe that we will have it. Deputies are advising of many dangerous roads, and they are asking dispatchers to contact the DOT of areas of particular concern.
  19. I'm listening to the scanner. There are several accidents, and deputies are commenting on how bad some of the roads are.
  20. Since I didn't know about it, I guess not!
  21. That ain't true! Ya got me!
