All I'm saying is was it so bad to ask if they were serving anything other than pizza? The OP said in a later post she was serving fruit, so unless she included that on the invitation, I think the mother had a valid question. I think Cake and Ice Cream would be assumed. And I can see why you're dreading the first school party. If you ask a valid question, someone might post it here and blow it way out of proportion.

Why the fruit? You said pizza party, so unless you included fruit on the invitation, that means pizza, cake and ice cream. What if she fed her daughter before she came, only to find you had fruit (which maybe she loves)? How inconsiderate is that? How would she have known if she hadn't asked?

That's the catch-22. As long as we stay with the constitution, they will continue to use it, our own laws and the progressive's sense of political correctness to slowly re-form us into the image they want. Under our constitution, there's nothing we can do about it and they know it.

Personally, I still can't get out of my mind the spontaneous celebrations that occurred in the streets of Islamic countries when the Twin Towers fell. But - it is the tradition and, and in the USA, the right of Muslims to build a Mosque on the dust from the bones of their victims.

You messed up big time. Quick research shows that in many cultures, peacocks and their feathers are seen as protective. By throwing it in the trash, you killed the lucky cricket.

It's up to you if you invite the entire class, just remember that you are setting precedence and will probably feel obligated to take him to each birthday he's invited to in the future. Also, be aware that many won't be able to attend for a number of valid reasons. Don't set his expectations that all his classmates will be there. Check with the school and teacher about their policy on sending birthday treats. Depending on the policy, they might not want them at all (allergies, etc.) or would want them on a day other than his actual birthday i.e. they do the celebrations on the same day ea

Y'all are assuming the worst, forgetting that in writing attitudes and emotions don't come across easily, and what someone writes might come across differently than they mean it. The mom could have meant: 'Little Janey doesn't like pizza. Can you tell me what else you are you planning to serve so I know if I should feed her before I bring her?' She just wouldn't have thought what she wrote would be taken so mean-spiritedly.

Personally, I would stay away from the engineered flooring with just a thin layer of real wood. We put that in about 10 years ago and have sections that are delaminating. Also, there is no option of sanding down to refinish because the veneer is so thin it would be too easy to sand through.

This thread goes to show the millenia old argument between Isaac and Ishmael is still alive.

That is not a better question, it is an avoidance of the question and an attempt at redirecting - something the Islamic apologists have gotten good at here. Let me ask again - What are Islamic leaders doing TODAY to teach their followers that killing innocents and unbelievers is NOT acceptable? Let me add - what are they doing TODAY to improve the economic conditions of their people?

What are Islamic leaders doing to teach their followers that this is wrong?

By your own admission, centuries ago Christians realized the error of their ways. If, in this day and age, I would face such a penalty imposed by a 'religion' I don't belong to or believe in, I guess I am now an islamophobe. I see you didn't even try to qualify the penalty by saying 'radical' Muslims. Would the 'moderate' Muslims participate in or speak out against such an atrocity, or would they remain silent?
-
What penalty would Muslims want to impose if a non-muslim drew a picture and said it was Mohammad?
-
By some, yes. - - - - What if we have a "Draw Jesus" day, then a "Draw Mohammad" day? How would that go over?
-
I think it is more a political philosophy than a religion.

Remember, this is the same city that installed bike racks then outlawed bikes.

I think you're right - a short term memorial can be important. As long as it can be visited safely and those involved realize it's temporary, perhaps to be replaced later by a simple cross. The issue is that I've seen too many of these where someone treats it as a roadside shrine, and years later there are still flowers, balloons, stuffed animals, statues, etc. The interesting thing is this behavior seems to be limited mostly to car accidents.

Here is another article on the subject: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1304497/Saudi-man-paralysed-countryman-cleaver-faces-having-spinal-cord-severed-eye-eye-punishment.html The guy paralyzed another with a meat cleaver. Under sharia law, 'an eye for an eye' rules the day. Unless of course the victim agrees to acdept "blood money" in reparation. Because this deals with Islamic law, we won't be seeing the UN or Red Cross saying anything about it.

A simple state approved marker should be easy to move if the road is being widened. Other states do this - a simple roadside marker with the person's name on it. They're all the same. No flowers, balloons, statues, ribbons or anything else.
-
I don't think this would get anywhere in Ga because the markers are not put up by the state. Personally, I like the idea of a standardized memorial. You apply to the state for a permit to erect one, then raise the money to pay for it. Perhaps there could be a few standard options, including a Cross, Star of David, Crescent Moon and Plain non-religious Marker. The idea being they are not too big, simple, recognizable and easy to care for. I've seen too many shrines people erect to their loved ones that are complex to the point that the surrounding property is hard to maintain.

Interesting observation at the Courthouse this morning

Same complex, different building with a different entrance. -
It is indeed amazing how much they've been able to do with adult stem cells. There are dozens of different treatments and therapies, often with the patient's own stem cells.
-
Interesting. Healing mice using embryonic stem cells. They're a long way from trying it on people. (The article posted doesn't say it embryonic, but fast research tracked down another that does.) BTW - they're way behind. Other researchers have recently begun Human trials healing spinal injuries using adult stem cells.

Now you're changing from shuttle buses picking up in neighborhoods to folks driving? There goes the savings you were claiming when you asked "owning, operating and maintaining a vehicle or two? How much does owning a vehicle actually cost?" To have the impact you want, we'd need huge tracts of land to be paved for the park and rides. Who will pay for that? There will be a lot more traffic and more accidents near the locations. We need security because anytime that many folks gather in the same place, the lowlifes see it as an opportunity. It isn't going to happen. Invest in m

You're right about that. If we removed all government subsidies, how much would a bus ride actually cost?
