  1. This isn't a few server crashes because the demand is far greater than what was expected. They knew to expect millions of hits a day - or should have. Most companies would have attempted to be ready, tested and scaled for the EXPECTED demand. The government wasn't even close. The last I heard, some of the pages are asking for personal identification (i.e. SS#, birthday, etc) with no SSL or other security even attempted. Again, there is NO EXCUSE!
  2. I heard they hired some ACORN members and gave them some training in web design and HTML.
  3. With the tens of millions of dollars invested in this system, there is no excuse for the site not being able to handle that many visitors. If it had been able to do what was expected, the number of calls and live chat requests would have been greatly reduced.
  4. If it's this bad now, imagine how bad it will be the last week or two of December. Because they haven't done the normal testing and load testing, they NEED a lot of folks to try to access the system now so they can find the many flaws.
  5. The way things are going, I don't think it's a joke. I think if the Administration believed they could get away with blaming the Republicans for it, the interstate system would be shut down overnite!
  6. Shutdown: National Park Service Closes Self-Sustaining Colonial Farm It Hasn’t Supported Since 1980 Childish indeed. They're spending a lot of tax money trying to keep things closed that shouldn't be closed.
  7. Any truth to the rumor they'll be shutting down the Federal Interstate System next?
  8. If it's that important, why did they allow 3 years before implementing it? What's wrong with adding one more year so it can be implemented with the other 'mandates' that were delayed by a year? Now you're getting it! The dems have a gun to our head in more ways than one!
  9. Any truth to the rumor they'll be shutting down the Federal Interstate System next?
  10. Be careful putting in personal/private information (SS#, etc.) It's been reported that many of the pages haven't implemented even the most basic security functions. If this were set up in private industry, the site would be shut down hard until the security flaws could be fixed.
  11. The Republicans aren't the ones refusing to negotiate on it. The question stands - if the employer mandate could be delayed by an year, why shouldn't the individual mandate? This is what happens when they pass something without knowing what's in it.
  12. The open air memorials are supposed to be open 24/7 regardless of the status of the Federal Government. The closure was just another attempt to make the shutdown look a lot worse than it is.
  13. Tell the truth Pubby . . . There's a neighbor you're planning on spying on while she's behind her privacy fence.
  14. Personally, I blame the majority of the press for not vetting the Community Organizer in Charge the way they would have if he had an ® behind his name, and for supporting him along the way.
  15. Answering a direct question during an interview isn't grandstanding.
  16. The all in one has everything but the keyboard and mouse housed in the monitor and is not intended to be portable. It's not the same as a laptop.
  17. I'd bet if he said Christians can eat someone else's pasta the same people complaining about this 'intolerance' would be celebrating!
  18. I see it along the lines of 'We would rather you learn from our mistakes than make them yourselves.'
  19. A quick scan shows most of those 'facts' are opinions or symantics. i.e. there will be no rationing. Are they telling us nobody will ever be denied a procedure because there isn't money for it or some bureaucrat doesn't think it's necessary?
  20. It makes more sense in context: "Tricks like this on OUR parents is how HALF of you were conceived.....And why a lot of your friends DONT have an address to send that Fathers day card to!!!" In other words, if y'all get knocked up like some of your friends' moms did when they tricked their parents, don't expect the guy to stick around and help.
  21. The city attorneys should contact the manufacturer asking them to revise the wording on the packaging. If anyone should foot the bill for the clogs, it's the manufacturer that said they were flushable.
  22. Trivia - Simon Pegg is one of only two actors to be in adaptations of Dr Who, Star Wars and Star Trek.
  23. Why do I get the feeling Blondie didn't start this thread to talk about Star Trek, but rather to lure unsuspecting Trek fans to her basement (with the help of cookies) never to be seen again?
