  1. Glad to help. A lot of this stuff is things I wish I had known on our first cruise. Another thing comes to mind. Turn your phone OFF while on board. If you want to make calls, first make sure you have international calling turned on with your provider, and it's cheaper if you do it while in port rather then in the open seas. These are fees that come on your phone bill, not on your cruise charges.
  2. If you go to the casino the first day, they'll punch a hole in the card and give you a lanyard so you can carry it around your neck. (You don't have to gamble to have them do this.)
  3. It sounds like you have things well in hand. You probably want to limit what you carry on because it may be an hour or two before you can go to your room. After our first cruse, we found a nice size roll around computer case that we can fit most of our carry on in. Between that and my wife's purse it's not too much. Do you have a passport or passport card? If not, read the list of required documents thoroughly. The cruise line requires these when you board because the Government requires them when you come back. One more thing, other than your "sign and sail" card, you don't need to
  4. How did you know it was a Muslim and a woman? Could it have been a Roman Catholic man in disguise?
  5. 4:00 is when the ship leaves. Just like an airplane, you need to be there much earlier. There is plenty on the internet about cruises. The more you know before you go, the better time you will have.
  6. It's no longer called formal night, it's elegant night. Tuxes and gowns are no longer required. If you don't want to 'dress up' at least dress nicely. It's the night they have prime rib and lobster in the main dining room.
  7. I would suggest you try to get into Jacksonville the day before and stay overnite. It may be a short drive from Savannah, but a major accident with a road closure, or even car trouble can make it difficult to get to the ship on time. Boarding usually starts around 10:30 or so, sometimes earlier. The sooner you can get checked it, the sooner you can really begin enjoying your vacation. One more thing - don't be afraid to explore the ship. If there's a door that isn't locked and doesn't say crew only, don't be afraid to see what's on the other side.
  8. If you want to think of it that way, then they're paying the taxes for you. The state still get's their share. Amazon wasn't collecting or paying sales taxes.
  9. As far as tips, no other tips are expected. If you believe someone has gone above and beyond, you of course can reward them.
  10. Fair tax only deals with Federal taxes, it doesn't change state tax law. Back to Amazon . . . The next step will be the various states subpenaing lists of customers from online retailers so they can see if they've individually paid the taxes the state laws demanded, and if not go after them.
  11. Is what happening? A drug problem or churches uniting to fight it?
  12. Implants are recalled from time to time. What would happen if your hip implant were recalled in the US, but not in the country you went to?
  13. Imagine a society where everyone only looked out for 'Number 1.' You try to 'Stand Up' and 'Speak Up' for yourself only to have it fall on deaf ears because the person you're addressing is only out for themselves. Taken to extreme, if you need help good luck finding someone who's best interest closely matches yours. Otherwise you're on your own.
  14. As long is it's shipped in a way that can be tracked - i.e. UPS or FEDX. DO NOT trust the USPS for tracking.
  15. I'm surprised Pubby hasn't joined the call to eliminated beer and soda along with other carbon producing things - imagine all the carbon released every time someone opens or pours one.
  16. Other than Pubby's uninformed guesses, I still haven't seen how these folks who don't have photo ID are able to get medical care under Federal rules: From 2009: Coming to a doctor's office near you: photo ID check
  17. The next time you go to the doctor, don't bring any ID other than your social security card and see if they'll treat you, then report back to us.
  18. Don't all doctors require a Photo ID? IIRC, it might actually be a Federal Law. How do these folks get health care without the ID?
  19. The liberals say it puts an undue burden on the poor and elderly who have lived their entire lives never needing a government issued photo id.
  20. I was going to ask you why you interrupted TP's conversation with himself until I saw you posted BACON! which we all know is the perfect food that overrides everything!
  21. I'm still trying to figure out if this applies here.
  22. The problem is the topic you posted was about a single judgement/agreement related to the case. You've finally made it obvious you wanted to discuss the number of the collars used and who should be responsible for reporting on them. Fine. What is the specific function of the collars? What is their purpose? What role did they play in the accident? The study in question said that having the full number recommended wouldn't have made a difference. Would having 50 been better? 100? Were they even a factor. IIRC, the article you posted doesn't give that info.
  23. What you're saying is you want this to be more about destroying a study done after the fact? Are you saying this is the final judgment and they've 'gotten away' with everything else related to the accident?
  24. The amazing thing is the number of views his conversations with himself get. (Unless he keeps checking them to see if he's said anything new.)
  25. The difference is the retailer will be reimbursed for the coupon, meaning the price hasn't changed.
