  1. Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. I might come to your house for a Payday because I don't like chocolate that much (that's why I buy it - so I don't eat it).
  2. In 24 years of working in Atlanta, the only scary commute I've had on Halloween was when Bankhead Courts was still up and running and the kids used to stand and throw eggs at cars. I was glad it wasn't dark when I went past there.
  3. I think it's a little early. We don't turn our lights on until it's starting to get dark. Like close to 7:00 or so.
  4. Usually when it's dark enough to light the pumpkins, that's when they start showing up. Hershey bars is another candy I'm giving out. I just cannot think of what the other candy is! Bugging me!!! We get kids that don't live in our subdivision every year. The parents all drive mini-vans and drive the kids from house to house, even though all the houses are fairly close together in our subdivision. Unreal! We also get quite a few high school age kids. I don't care how old they are - if they are dressed in a costume, they will get candy at our house.
  5. Reese's, Snickers, Milky Way, Baby Ruth, Kit Kat, and two more I have forgotten what they are. One bag of each. When the candy is gone, the light will go out.
  6. I think it's a neat idea! Anything to get people talking about it and interested in trying the church out. We have friends who go there and they invited us to their hot dog picnic a few weeks ago. We had a good time and felt very welcome.
  7. I like it. At least it's actually dark when I go to bed early.
  8. I have never been fired. I probably should have been fired a few times where I work now because of my big mouth but it never happened.
  9. That was a great thing to post! As the parent of an almost 20 year old young man with Aspergers, I couldn't have said it better. Thank you! My son handed out candy last year. I had a ton of starlight mints and told him to throw a few in each bag with the candy bars so we could get rid of them. I noticed the kids who came up to get candy kept giving him dirty looks and then walking off. I know he wasn't talking to any of them (no way!) but I wondered what was going on. I watched and saw the he was giving each kid exactly 1 starlight mint and nothing else! Those kids were pissed! He sai
  10. I made beef stew cooked in a pumpkin. You scoop out some pumpkin with your ladel of stew. It was really, good and filling. It looked cool, too!!
  11. My family loves spaghetti squash. cut the squash in half length-wise. Put it in a 13 x 9 pan, cut side down, that has about 1 inch of water in it. Bake in a 350 oven until you can easily run a fork through the skin - 30 to 45 minutes, depnding on how big your squash is. Take the squash out of the oven and use a fork to scrape the inside out, all the way down to the skin. It is stringy like spaghetti. throw some butter, garlic and parmesan cheese in it and serve it as a side dish OR you can put your favorite sauce over it and eat it like spaghetti. Very, good!
  12. My high school also had a smoking area (I graduated in 1981). They put it out on the front road, thinking that if they could be seen (by their parents), the kids wouldn't do it. That didn't work. It was full of kids before school, between classes, lunch time and after school before they got on the bus to go home. They finally got rid of the smoking area in about 1985 or so. They kept the smoking lounge inside the school for the teachers until the early 90's.
  13. My grandparents were first cousins. They had 9 kids together and none of them were deformed or mentally challenged. In fact, I have two uncles who were both extremely intelligent.
  14. I made this one year for work and one for my husband's family at Christmas. I have made them for both ever since, by popular demand. It is a very good cake!
  15. I LOVE her fat belly in this one where she is sucking her thumb (the one with the cherry outfit). Too cute!!!!!!
  16. Geez! And to think that my husband and I are all excited about getting to go out to Olive Tree Friday night for our anniversary!
  17. I admitted to Great Pumpkin and Hocus Pocus. i love them both.
  18. Nothing out of the covers except my head. Have to be covered up to my neck every night. No feet, legs or arms hanging off the bed - there might be something under that bed to grab me!
  19. Magic Fade to Black The 1st (and best) Halloween movie The Omen The Others Silence of the Lamb On a silly note, I love Hocus Pocus and watch it every Halloween, along with the Charlie Brown Halloween special! "Come play with us, Danny". Creeps me out. That little boy was from a town next to where I grew up. His parents did not allowed him to watch that movie until he was a teenager.
  20. HA! Our beagle did the exact same thing this morning. In the living room though! He isn't usually scared of thunder but the rumble was pretty loud. I thought it was our neighbor's motorcycle revving up.
  21. We camped at Ft. Mountain this weekend (awesome!) and made the mistake of going to Burt's and attempting to go to Amicalola (sp?) falls. Once we finally got through the mess at Ellijay, Burt's was a zoo. I don't understand why the Snobby Cobb women think they have to go in high heeled boots and too much makeup. It has become the "place to go" I guess and you must be dressed up for it. We couldn't even go to the falls because there was no parking and one family stopped us as we rode through one of the parking lots for the third time and told us that it took them over an hour of driving thro
  22. Thanks! I'll print this so we have directions! We have never camped at this park and we are looking forward to it. We tent camp. I am a little nervous about all the reviews I've read where they talk about seeing black bears. I might sleep in the car.
