What yall don't seem to get is that trained professional salaries are not keeping up with the cost of living. Can I assume that trained professionals are afraid they might end up flipping burgers if they complain? Maybe it is that they spend too much energy trying to keep the high school graduates in poverty to take care of their pay shortage. I am sure the executives do the same, worry about the gap between themselves and the hourly getting to close so they don't give the hourly pay raises.

Somebody talked to me the other day about buying a person's airspace over their property as compensation. Since you live at the end of the runway can you tell me more about that?

We have proven it does not work this way. 10 years of flat wages, the cost of living continued to rise and companies made record profits. It disproved itself. The issue is this, people won't pay $8 for a fast food burger because it is crap, not the person that made it. That concept doesn't register with some.

You are right NJ. Trains run all day from NY city out to the towns in Long Island. They do not bring the criminal element out to the suburbs. What brings the criminal element is government, cheap housing, and low paying jobs. You will also see that the home owner taxes in these little bedroom communities are very high as home values are extreme such as 250,000 for 900 SF home. Why so high? it keeps the riff raff out. They have to stay in the city if they want subsidized housing. I am much more afraid of investors buying up our foreclosed homes here and renting them section 8 than I am M

Maybe 17 an hour is too low for the mechanic? He went to school, passed exams. I assume that the tools are very heavy. The heat and air probably is not optimal, like a desk job. His job might also be dangerous. You can't bring someone in off the street and teach them to do the job. On top of that a person that owns a company that uses these engines is pretty much up the creek without this person. I think he is worth the 27 an hour. That way he does not have to worry about not getting compensated much better than a burger flipper. And he will be able to pay $8.00 for a burger so I the tax pay

Govt Research pays off? A posssible Alternate Fuel Breakthrough
LPPT replied to The Sound Guy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Dang I could get rich from my own swimming pool. That would be pretty cool that we could have tanks on our property that create fuel for our cars. I get so excited about about environmentally safer and less expensive energy. -
I have always wanted a little green house. I think I can do this myself.

Paulding making BIG news - NYT, WSJ weigh in on airport with stories
LPPT replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
They use their monopoly to gouge people. A 45 minute flight that averaged around $50 now cost $350.00. I am not a fan of Delta. -
I ask a friend today how she felt about the airport. She lives within the city limits. She didn't offer much of an opinion the current developments. She did share a story with me about putting a contract on a home in the subdivision. She mentioned it to someone that then told her there was an airport close to the subdivision. She went back to the realtor at the subdivision that said, I don't know about it. She goes to a realtor that has a long career in Paulding that told her the truth. She withdrew the contract. I hope that the folks in that subdivision are not going against the county

I think it is just an example of what has happened to our society. It seems like normal behavior to me that when someone needs help you are inclined to help. I read an article recently that said we don't trust each other. It is very true, if you read the news there are thousands of articles about bad things happening to people. It seems you can't trust anyone these days. We lock everything up and carry guns to protect ourselves. When you consider the population of this country I don't think that by percentages that crimes are any more frequent than they have ever been. I believe

There are some definite draw backs to legalizing it for recreational use. Most people I have known(not all)don't just use it for recreation. They believe they are fully functional on it. I have worked places were people had obviously smoked it at lunch. I hated working with these people. It is a cerebral high more than physical so it does effect judgement like sitting down to a family meal and believing nobody knows you are high. I have known many that stay high all day, at that point it is no different than an alcoholic that can't control their drinking. One of the differences is t

Where is the proof that they were lying the entire time and had every intent of commercializing the airport from day one.

Whitey, I am not going to address all your points, it is just rehashing the issues. I will tell you what really bothers me the most, and why I am for a town hall meeting. It takes something like this or the toll road to get people participating. We have about 10,000 people that control this county. That is a high number for those that turn out in elections. We and I include you and I plus the handful of participants in this thread. The anti facebook is up to or over 700. We don't know where the population stands on any issue. So those of us engaged basically make a lot of decis

I have no idea what a fleet of these small jets cost. I do know that if they are registered here that they may bring in more tax revenue in one year than we receive all together in 5 years. At the end of the day the question is how are we going to pay for all the services required by the people that live in 10's of thousands dumped on us in less than 10 years time. How quickly people forget where we were 6 years ago. Obligated to many things we could not pay for. Home owners are the source of tax revenue in this county. We forget all the crying about people being let go and furloughed rat

I find it strange that nobody questioned the bulldozers running out there. I think the new construction to the terminal had been going on for a while also. People voted not to fund the airport with bonds. It did not read do you want an airport yes or no? They also voted not to fund the schools and lost that vote. They have been upgrading that airport as funds have become available. You know the saying, only an idiot would vote themselves a tax increase. I personally have issues with the new park. It should have never been funded until every road project was completely funded. We have plen

I have a life rule about not telling other women about how good your husband treats you Mine is damn well near perfect. We are together because he loves me, not because he needs me to take care of him. He can do anything as well as I do and often does it around the home, to the extent that I sometimes feel guilty because he works 12 an 14 hours a day every day. As I read this I thought not just about him, but my family and even friends. I am so blessed that there is no personal strife in my life from family and friends. My children are close to each other and always have each others ba -
Mike Rowe Explains Our Job and Education Crisis
LPPT replied to Jamie Gilbert's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Our country went through a phase where the white collar job market was paying very good salaries because of the demand. There was also a phase that it was kind of understood that people that sweat for a living were not as good as those that did. It became a class thing. That above all needs to be turned around. All people should take pride in supporting themselves no matter what it is they do. -
Mike Rowe Explains Our Job and Education Crisis

I believe we raised a generation of young people in this county that went straight from high school to construction. Now that the housing market has crashed we have a generation of young people that have no other skills. These young people are trainable, we have a responsibility to direct them towards training that will help them to make a good living. Manufacturing will take young people with good soft skills and train them. There is a huge need for vocational training that is not the equivalent of a 2 year degree. The reason is that very bright young people fail these programs due to a -
That is the difference between you and this man. You can't find any legitimate reason to beat him down, so you call him stupid for his ethical behavior. You may believe that all people that are wealthy got they way by cheating others, but it is not true. There comes a day when your bank account does not define you but the legacy you leave becomes more important. That is not just a thing for wealthy, many that have little to give strive to leave their corner of the world a little better for existing in it. You and the anti-airport folks insist on believing that the reason for commercializ

I stopped by to see if I could find some unique gifts for a few still on my Christmas list. I hit the jackpot with some great items and even a few treasures for myself. I took a few pictures of the new booths and merchandise. Hopefully it will help someone finish their list with unique items too.
