I am going to use what I have always used, bedsheets, hang them to dry during the day, recover the next night then wash and fold when the danger is over.

I know it is not everyone's favorite news site but this is some good news I wanted to share! Teen Birth Rates Down in Texas Overall, the CDC says the teen birth rate is at an historic low at a little over 34 births per 1,000. The actual number of teen births is also down: fewer babies were born to teenagers in 2010 than in any year since 1946. The CDC says teen childbearing has been on a general decline since the late 1950's. Link to the article

George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?
LPPT replied to ihaveadog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I found it and I am listening. We are basically still waiting for the charges or lack of. This guy is a lawyer no doubt. He is claiming evidence that I don't think has been confirmed by additional investigation. He is basically reiterating what is already known. The question is, what is new besides these 2 giving a press conference -

George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?

Their point might be relevant as much as I dislike both of them. I think it is just easier to believe a young black man was the violent attacker, that belief is not unfounded. The problems with society are real, is it fair that this young man may have died because the statistics bare out an awful truth about crime among minorities. Quite honestly that may absolutely be the truth. A very sad truth about our country. Someone has to take responsibility for the statistics and Jesse and Al never do they always blame someone else, I don't believe that our criminal justice system is railroading mino -
How does poverty in America look? We have all seen the pictures of the great depression, does it look like that? I have family pictures from that time, a lot of the children were in flour sack dresses, they had old leather shoes and they are sitting in front of old wooden houses without paint. I just think we have pictures in our head of how it should look and feel. What does affordable housing look like, I remember tar paper shacks with the porches falling off and tin roofs, I still see these houses falling in all over rural areas. They had no running water, no phones, usually just

George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?

The thing is we only have Zimmerman's side we don't know if he was getting that gun out of his truck, Martin could have been approaching him to ask what he wanted and tried to get the gun away from him to save his life. I read an article where the witnesses felt like their testimony was kind of blown off by the police on the scene. All the theories about the incident being the kids fault come down to character. Zimmerman is supposedly the good guy based on his history and character, Martin the bad guy on his history and character, because all we have is Zimmerman's word on the actual details, -
I don't have enough sheets to cover what I have planted so far, it it gets bad I will have some loss for sure. Will watering late at night help protect them? I will probably cover the more expensive annuals, I can replant seedlings. I put out 2 beautiful hibiscus I got on sale as in the ground. I will have to cover them for sure.

I have been watching the 10 day, the forecast for tomorrow night was 38, now it has changed to 34. I am keeping my fingers crossed, I have a lot of stuff in the beds already and seedlings just coming up. I am wondering if I should cover things tomorrow night.

I am hearing them also, but I was on the back porch with the dogs, they stopped up here pretty close. I hope everyone is ok. Between hwy61 and Dabbs folks are usually moving pretty fast so you always worry when you hear them.

I know someone that can put a custom label on any wine bottle you would like. You send her the artwork, a picture, a logo, a poem or just thank you in nice script with company name. You can choose the wine you want, purchase a case, send her the art work for the label. She gift wraps them very nicely, or places them in baskets with glasses, stoppers, cork screws ect. If you are interested, pm me for contact info. Even if they are not big wine drinkers many like them as keepsakes, especially with their own pictures or company logo's on them.

That is so true, we do have many wonderful neighbors, not just in the sub but the entire area. We have little or no crime you hardly ever see a sheriffs car in our neighborhood. I also love the individuality of homes folks doing nice things with landscaping and paint that you don't have with many of the HOA cookie cutter homes. I just feel like if you like the wild look, weeds, tall grass and rotting woodwork or you are a collector of junk a subdivision is not the ideal place to live. I hope that they do their best for you as far a buffer goes, I don't think there is any stopping the

Parts per million Mr. Blue, people need to educate themselves on the concept as far as the safety of chemicals. The way I understand it there is serious difficulty in tracing the amount of ingestion and the life of the chemicals. The EPA has a limit of how safe things are depending on the concentration in soil, water, food and other things higher up on the food chain. I have no idea how long it takes round up to break down so that humans at the top of the food chain are not getting enough to be harmful. This can also be based on the foods you eat and in what quantities. Nothing is absolutel

I feel for you, last week I was behind someone traveling down 61 for about 10 minutes they must have crossed the double yellow line at least a dozen times, I could tell they were texting by the way they would be looking down every time they swerved. I honestly don't get the texting and driving thing, kind of just blows my mind. You can push one button and call someone if you absolutely must communicate with them. Why endanger yourself and others on the road to text? makes absolutely no sense to me. Do people really think about car wrecks, even a fender bender can have you sore for days.

There has not been much activity up there the end of last week, I was wondering if maybe some plans were being altered for our neighbor as far as the buffer goes. I feel bad for our neighbor, but everything they are doing up there they are legally entitled to do, I just don't think there is anything to fight on this. Hopefully they will do as much as they can on the buffers to make it better for the effected homeowners.

I have a brother-in-law in the EPA that won't use it or allow his kids anywhere he knows that it is used. I was aware of the studies showing the effect on hormones, but not kidneys I use it sparingly since I have gotten older, I simply can't physically get down and weed as much as I use to, I use it in the big sprayer and set my nozzle to dibble on the grass or weed in the flower bed. I wear latex gloves and dispose of them. I had an encounter with insecticide years ago that was absorbed through gloves and leather shoes, it was very scary. I am not that concerned about it because I u

Georgia jobless benefits among briefest in nation A worker who loses a job after July, thanks to new state legislation to reduce hundreds of millions of dollars in debt to the federal government, will draw 14 to 20 weeks of checks, down from 26 weeks. The new sliding scale is based on the state unemployment rate. The lower the rate, the fewer the weeks of payments. More than 190,000 Georgians stand to lose anywhere from $260 to $1,820 in benefits, the nonprofit Georgia Budget and Policy Institute estimates. My link From what everyone is saying our unemployment numbers will

See your perspective makes you angry, you simply have to change it or go crazy thinking about it. The thing is they can now raise the price of it cause the gubberment is paying for it. They are going to cry how they are going broke providing this service and they are going to stop providing if we don't pay them more for it. And you know what we will pay it to save them. They are probably going to allow them to put more minutes on it if they want to, maybe use their EBT card credit, after all the money all comes from the same place. I think we need to just cut them a check every month for the

I am not worried about it, it is putting more money in the pocket of a big corporation. This way we can be assured that they can pay their corporate taxes and won't move overseas. Just think how many jobs they provide, it feels good to help them out with my tax dollars. You need to stop thinking of it as giving something for nothing to the poor, think of how many legitimate businesses benefit from all of this. Everything from grocery stores to maintenance folks in public housing. People just totally see the whole welfare thing wrong, millions profit and have jobs because of it, we are actual

My best guess is there are 2 names on that check and he wants to be the first to get his hands on it, and yes I have seen it before.

I would call the SO and leave a message for the person whose name is on the mail, if he doesn't call back in a week or so then send it back. Hey, it's your karma

I was not referring to the case sighted in the article but to the way harmful foods are identified, such as out breaks of listeria or E-coli compared to identifying the possible harm Genetically modified foods and certain pesticides. Sorry if I confused the issue. My point was they will immediately go after a dairy farmer because they have laws and regulations already in place because of the known dangers. Yet Monsanto because they are a huge corporation does not get the same scrutiny and is not forced to wait while the testing is done over multiple generations to prove the safety of the

Wow, thats awful I hope it heals. Cutting trees is scary stuff. I lost a childhood friend this year when a tree fell on him. Tree cutting has always scared me. My husband uses the come a long too but I never trust them. I should have plenty of tomatoes, just let me know.
