Clouds are rolling in here, there is quite the lightening show towards Cartersville/ Rome, I am still hoping for rain tonight, I put in about 150 annuals this week and I like to keep the ground pretty wet for about a week after I plant them to keep the soil soft so the roots spread well.

It's not going to be too bad this year, Low 70's during the day and 40's at night. I was just talking to daddy about it a few days ago, he said maybe we won't have one this year. I have truly never known a year without it. I have been watching and I saw that they had not bloomed yet. Blackberry winter is a good time to get some of the hard chores done you don't want to do when it gets real hot. I have some planting left to do if my mail order plants come in this week and I will be down to pressure washing the concrete, then it is all enjoying the fruits of my labor the rest of the season!!

Low Rider my issue with the raw milk in the article is exactly the same as my issue with Monsanto. Mass produced food is not about quality or healthy but about profit and loss. The raw milk scenario is pretty clear cut, everyone gets sick in a few days you track the source, you shut them down or correct their procedures. Other things are a little more obscure, the government is supposed to be protecting us. You think about the little vegetable stand by the roadside, the gardener is trying to make a few bucks off of extra produce. Or he is trying to make his house note in the long run it do

Surepip it is not the same with what Monsanto has developed, read the links, we all understand hybrids, this is different.

BFL, I understand your consternation when you read these many articles, you will find 1000's of them all over the internet. The beauty of the internet is the ability to self publish anything you desire. A housewife can create her own website and blog to her hearts content. I for one appreciate the ability to occupy my mind for hours on end about any subject, and I have benefited tremendously on a personal basis from my my nutritional research. I owe my full recovery from Lyme disease due to articles on the research of sea salt on the bacteria I was infected with. I also still have a worki

I am actually hoping for some very brisk wind today. The rain will soak the oak bloom making it heavy and the winds should bring down a lot of it. I am opening the pool today but I don't put out furniture until after the oak bloom all falls because it makes double the work for me. I have to bleach the brown spots off the deck when it is all finished. I love the beautiful tall oaks in my yard, unfortunately they drop something about 5 months of the year, acorns, leaves and bloom. I hope we don't get hail with this I just put in bedding plants.

This is the way I see it, you have farms that are either advertising on the internet or boldly spreading the word to sell raw milk or other unregulated food products. 50 people come down with food born illness 10 people die, probably elderly, children or those that have health issues. People are going to scream they were breaking the law, why didn't you stop them. The truth is there are 2 sides to every story, I have read many articles about the health benefits of many foods the drawbacks of processed foods and chemicals. We worry about cancer or other health issues, the bottom line is on

I think that folks should schedule a meeting at the community center in the new park. Put up a sign with the date, time and place. Invite our commissioner and a rep. from the Dollar store. This way everyone has the same info and all that want can sign a petition and discuss their concerns. I also have my concerns, especially about traffic and safety. I am also very sorry about Brian's back yard I would be heart broken over it myself. As far as property values for me it is a non-issue, we don't have an HOA here and we have zero control over up-keep and maintenance, I have already acce

The insinuation that commissioners support harassing the Dollar general corporation needs to be rewritten, I just called David and this is not the case, their hands are legally tied from doing anything about them building on the lot, basically giving the commissioners a hard time will do no good. I think they were told that if they were going to take it up with anyone it would have to be Dollar General.

NBC Apologizes for Misleadingly Edited Zimmerman Call
LPPT replied to hoohaa's topic in RECENT TOPICS
If they do wade in there they will interview the loudest most outrageous and ignorant folks they can find. Remember the occupy wall street interviews? drunks were news, idiots were news, the handful of folks that could articulate were avoided like the plague by those holding cameras because it was boring. People claim political bias, I claim sensationalism even when it has to be contrived. -
Weren't me. I am aware of her as I sometimes google my name to see what comes up.

NBC Apologizes for Misleadingly Edited Zimmerman Call
LPPT replied to hoohaa's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Almost all journalism is biased, I have been telling people that for years. A story is usually put together from multiple sources, the journalist chooses which to include or leave out it can drastically change opinions on what you believe. The accepted criteria is always what will cause the most stir. I don't watch the news on tv so I never saw this, I usually go to google and read almost all the stories on the subject. If it is big enough to make multiple news sources you can get a better picture. People prefer news sources that they relate to or like, but they are all the same in cho -
A pair of birds built a nest in an old bird feeder. The cats caught on to it and have been curious, I looked out the dining room window yesterday to see this. I videoed it with my cell phone. Thank goodness Tiki couldn't get to the babies, but my guess is the obsession with the birds is far from over, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lK_yeQV-zh4&feature=youtu.be

I was addressing the chamber thing, sorry it came across like that I know you aren't that way. But generally a tour of homes is for larger homes and usually includes people with enough money to preserve or restore them. I like a tour of yards myself where you can register your yard and maybe a map could be updated. It could be done with google earth a picture can be submitted to pop up when you click it or float the cursor. Gardening clubs also do this were you join the club meet at someone's house every week, you learn about each others plants and maintenance, along with swapping see

A lot of HOA's won't allow any individuality in landscaping, some of the older neighborhoods though have some really well maintained homes. I saw one just off Hiram Sudie last week and I was amazed at the number of well maintained homes there.

I don't think that you have to be rich and open your home. My dad lives in a town about the size of Dallas they give out yard of the month signs and a write up in the paper. Most of the homes that get the award are modest, 1200-1600 square ft. The idea is to encourage people to maintain their homes and keep the landscaping nice. Not everyone is rich so that should not be the criteria for recognizing people in a community that take pride in their home. When I lived on base they did the same thing with the same results a lot of people took really nice care of their yards, it was a pleasu

George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?
LPPT replied to ihaveadog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
As I have said before when he turned around was critical to Martin's actions, the kid had already seen him follow him into the ally. I can't help but think about what was going through this kids mind, was the kid afraid for his life when he walked out of the ally and saw Zimmerman with his back to him and getting something out of his truck. I also saw an article this morning were supposedly a detective recommended that Zimmerman be arrested after his investigation and was shot down by the DA. I am assuming that it had more to do with the way the law is written that the state has to com -
Student's parents hired a lawyer fighting EPHS over senior prank
LPPT replied to Lady Raider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I was with some friends when someone showed a facebook page of North Paulding's senior prank where they grabbed for sale and advertising signs from the roads and put them all over the campus saving the county workers the trouble. I laughed and said yep we are raising capitalist up here instead of gangsters -
Thank you I will check, he is not the only one that got the letters, he was the only one that responded. I respect that he answered me, even in a form letter. I am genuinely very concerned about this issue or I wouldn't have publicized the letter. This is a huge invasion of my privacy. I would like to think that they are regular folks like me and also hate all the calls. I received one today from Washington state, if I don't want anymore calls I have to listen to the message, follow the prompts to be removed from their list. I didn't ask to be on their list of people to call, I shouldn't have

I can't wait to get the book, after reading the list I realized I know so many of these people. Good people that care so much for others. The stories from the video are still on the card, honestly I needed to breath before watching them again because they made me cry, such powerful stories about human experiences, I was struck by the common theme of wanting to do more, when they did everything humanly possible. We have the artifacts, even with your book the times people lived in, the pictures of the tangibles we recognize. The hearts and minds of people are unique and wonderful. I am so happy

I always say something about good service, quality or prices. Especially like the ATT rep, I know the calls are recorded. I got excellence service at Elrods today. I love it when people are so helpful you don't mind asking them for things that are important to you. I knew my plants would be in the car for a while, the lady was so helpful I didn't mind asking her to spray a flat that was not dry but dryer than the rest. She acted happy to do it, not put out. People acting put out makes me UUUGGGG. The whole experience there today was great. They were very busy so that made it even more imp

Don't "Dance" For Others And Ignore What Matters To You
LPPT replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I like this subject, this is a great opportunity to discuss the change and growth we all go through. A lot of times we change because of a catalyst, many times we are the only one that goes through the change, sometimes not, those that go through it with us are not always changed in the same way. Some people refuse to change no matter how over whelming the event in their life, because just as you have described they fear being set apart from others because of the change. I totally understand about the dance, my eyes were opened by an event that not only happened once, but twice. I accept -
Just saw an update, her water has broken and she is in labor!! :clapping: Praying for her to have an easy time.

Every time I time I read these threads about this I keep picturing an old time western were a guy pushes his hat back, spits tobacco and says yep hang um high boys -
You know I would put up a fuss if we could get them to change the facade to look like an old fashioned General Store with a wooden front, I think the little restaurant that is empty is cute and fits with the look of our backwoods community.
