  1. We have every reason to distrust, but we have got to do something and soon. They are going to be forced to take those pennies, and as I said when they do it will be to float the unemployed and under employed, a bottomless black pit.
  2. I have no objection to the government spending in the realm in which it is meant to. National defense, public safety, infrastructure, and roads. When our government sticks to these things we benefit, and the economy benefits. It lowers the need for government to meddle in things it has no business meddling in, such as housing, medicine, childcare and agriculture. This project will reduce the need for the state to contribute funding to those things it has no business funding. This is one of the best uses of tax dollars our politicians have come up with. It is a game changer for the sta
  3. The banks did it and we bailed them out, so now it is ok to stick the citizens with the entire bill of paying back over a million dollars when you include interest on these loans and end up owning something worth less than a 100,000 dollars. Most people could pay for their homes until the lenders crashed the market.
  4. You have a point,we all benefit in one way or another with everyone that goes back to work. Lets say if all the counties vote it in and we start road construction from one end of the state to the other perhaps peaking out at putting 10,000 people back to work at a living wage, this will have a multiplier affect of probably putting 50,000 people in the sate back to work. People that will then be able to pay taxes instead of drawing unemployment and other social services, reducing the need to raise taxes in the future. There was a time when people were willing to make decisions based on this
  5. I am surprised that nobody has pointed this out, but maybe people don't want to think about. We often talk about what labor is worth, starting with flipping burgers going all the way up to CEO's. A persons worth is more than a number on a weekly check, they have a value to the economy. Lets just say this effected 100 people, you now have 100 people that will probably lose their homes, 100 people that will now need food stamps to survive, help with utilities, they will more than likely drop the portion of their insurance. This will also probably effect at least 1000 businesses in the area.
  6. As long as the government continues to pick up the slack, we won't have a true market. When their business fails because of mistakes or hiring kids, over paying executives, we bail them out, or cut their taxes. Many of our foreclosures are do to unemployment and flat wages in Georgia. It has just been recently banks are working with people, why? because when they get too many foreclosures on their books the bank is dissolved. I just read an article, I may post it in the morning, the only thing keeping our hospitals afloat are the Medicaid payments. Same with our universities, everything the
  7. You had better believe certain business models thrive because the taxpayers pick up the tab. In fact they count on it, now the feds are gonna make them pay up for all the medical they have been covering for them and they are crying like babies, might have to sell a few condos and give up some collections and expensive vacations you and I paid for through our taxes so their employees didn't drop over freakin dead! Put 1.99 hamburger where the sun don't shine cause it cost me more a year in taxes than I am gonna publicize.
  8. Georgia has the shortest time allowed on unemployment 21 weeks. People forced to take low paying jobs with families can qualify for food stamps. Keep believing that Georgia has the highest number of people gaming the system if you want. Right to work states tend to have the lowest wages and least benefits, I know a lot of folks are glad so many minimum wage part time jobs are available in this state since their unemployment ran out. They should be thankful to have a job.
  9. My mother was like that, dark everything, curtains, rugs, furnishings it was like walking in a cave.
  10. I can simplify this for you, you have raised children, you have taught them many things, a lot of it is repetition, and they learn. When people have a lot of bad experiences, their brain learns to be sad, a sunny day is sad because heat is uncomfortable, (sound familiar) anger for a depressed person is like drugs for an addict, adrenaline is a naturally occurring drug in the body that is literally used by the chronic depressive to keep them alive, but it tends to drive people out of their lives leaving them even more depressed. Therapy and sometimes drugs are the only answer, someone that
  11. The whole house of faith cards comes tumbling down when you say that every single word in the bible did not come directly from God. Lets not forget thousands of scrolls still be found from the same time. On faith we accept divine intervention in the writings and choices of what writings went into what we call the holy bible. It does not feel right in my heart to mistreat my friends and family that have known from childhood that they were different or to contribute to a life time of pain and suffering. Someone who would like to control others with the pain they inflict will feel good in
  12. They use to say the same about bi-racial children, that it was the kids that suffer. The only reason those kids ever suffer is because people choose to make sure they do so by choosing to act the way they do against them. People choose how they feel about gays. How does it hurt you?
  13. I don't especially think people are born pedophiles, but I am open to the possibility. They know there are many types of brain disorders. People may be born serial killers. It really does not matter how you are wired, when your wiring causes you to victimize people or animals then society is protected against you. Gay people do not victimize others, does it offend some of course it does but it does not harm their partners. Deer slayer their might be some that think your wiring is a little off because you enjoy killing animals when our society has made it unnecessary for the average p

    Hoarding

I think the show they produce is where relatives have reported them and once they are forced by the law the show pays the fees for clean up in exchange for taping privileges. I hoard a little bit I think we all do as we get older, I have lots of old things from the parents and grand parents passing away that have no use. Like my great grandmothers ice tea set, I won't use it because god forbid a glass breaks, it collects dust. I sit here in my office surrounded by 125 year old portraits and I don't really like antiques.

    Hoarding

Went through with my grandfather, it is a nightmare. When he lived on his own he would not throw a piece of paper away, even rinsed paper towels and hung them to dry. The kitchen was stacked with washed cans and jars that he filled with anything he picked up, nails, screws, washers from parking lots. When he had to live my aunt they pad locked the garbage can at nigh, if not he would go through it and his drawers and closet would be full of trash. Almost every hoarder I know has a disconnect with throwing things away, it starts out with collecting used things but almost always develo
  16. I got some Whitey maters today and had some left some Melissa. I caramelized them in olive oil with some Italian herbs. Sauteed some onions, mushrooms, and a zucchini from the garden, mixed it all together. I am making meatballs to go with it, I am going to serve it over pasta with some feta!!
  17. I don't see any reason to change anything. When the name calling and roughness starts the candidate can just stop posting. They can already close their own topics. Most intelligent people can tell that folks are abusing the candidates and won't blame the candidate for leaving and closing the thread. Mods also recognize abuse whether it be a regular member or candidate and people can be sanctioned for it. It is never right to verbally abuse anyone. People say a lot of things standing behind a computer screen they would never say in person.
  18. I agree with you, Melissa's friends and relatives need to sit on their hands when she ask questions. That includes me I have also been guilty of it. She can request a thread be closed for the same reasons any of us can for personal attacks and suspected trolling which you certainly are not guilty of. Surepip may have to get a vacation to prevent him from doing it, it can be arranged.
  19. I spoke with her about her message and that of her supporters getting mixed up. She will be back I am sure. I have seen it many times not just on here but on the street when supporters begin talking for a candidate, they insinuate their beliefs as those of the candidates. The thread had become very long and there was a lot of it in there. Quite honestly every time that has happened on here it has been disastrous for the candidate. I advise all the candidates exactly the same when it comes to using the site for campaigning and when that happens it's time to back off simply because most rea
  20. The reviews were not good on it. I am going to stick with the Iphone.
  21. I have an Iphone, but I am looking at the pantech any body have both which did you like best and why?
  22. I wouldn't object to the tax breaks if they were guaranteed to result in new hires or in the paychecks of the workers, therefore boosting the local economy, as in getting it in writing before you give them the tax break. More than likely it will show up in executive salaries and bonuses. Which is another huge issue with me, I have not read the bill, but generally there was something tacked on to this bill that was really needed and they forced the passage of this one to get another passed. That absolutely needs to stop. Maybe if we vote in enough freshman we can stop this practice along wi
  23. She surprised me when she went after Micheal because he is extremely right. I guess we all have our little test as far as how in-with our own beliefs a candidate is. We also have some very wary voters this time around, a lot of people were very upset last time when some information came out about a candidate after early voting had started. I hope people have learned their lesson on that, it is a well used strategy and candidates do work really hard to tamp down unpleasant things until after early voting has begun. There is a bright side to our discussions even when we get a little hot o
  24. This was my issue when I looked into the lottery. The lottery is not run by the state, it is run by a company that the state contracts with. These people are the real winners of the lottery when it comes to the pay off. They make huge salaries and bonuses, much of the funding from the lottery goes into marketing, you have the billboards, and marketing material in the stores. I looked into how it worked when we first started hearing about the cutbacks. What I found out was we had made a pack with the devil, the companies money comes off the top first, so no matter how short the lotte
