  1. You should be a billionaire by now with all these predictions. What are you still doing on Paulding.com?? How come you’re not an analyst on a major network giving expert advice as the person who is never wrong…
  2. I hope it works out for you. I'd say start small with a few lunches or dinners and build out from there. Let people start meeting each other in smaller groups so they can get comfortable. After a while you'll learn most are ok but there are a few that turn up that'll weird you out!
  3. This place will never be the same without old pleather pants... Besides, many of the old members are gone or simply don't have the time or desire to put the effort in that is needed to play like the "old days". I feel like an old man reminiscing...
  4. Not trying to turn it ugly at all. A lot of the stuff that happens on the board now is child play compared to years back. Even so many of the "board foes" would still cross paths at meet-n-greets without any issues. I'm not sure that could happen now though... It was a way to put faces with names and figure out which online line personality match a person in real life. Oddly enough, one of the few people I ever invited to my house was one of p.com's most liberal members. On the board we were opposites politically but in person we got along fine.
  5. Really? I'm sure cableman and I both have stories that could help bring back memories.
  6. It used to happen pretty often with lunches. A couple events got pretty large. People started scheduling their own things and it was shut down. Not sure if that is still the practice now, but it could explain why no one is doing it.
  7. Used to happen way back in early pcom days regularly. There was a good group of people who show up for lunch and such. I think there was a crackdown on it by pubby for some reason or another. Something to do with using Paulding.com to schedule it or being the reason behind it. Someone else will probably chip in to fill in the blanks or correct me.
  8. With you and mrnn in first and second I don't feel so bad coming in third... Normally I'd tried to excel but the two if you have me beat no matter how hard I'd try at that measurement.
  9. So you think people who pay property taxes shouldn't have the ability for that money to support their children’s education? Those are tax payers getting tax payer funded vouchers... Do you honestly think these private schools are turning out worse students than public? They aren't... Make all the excuses you want, but private schools continually provide better results than public. When public schools can complete with private you might try to make the argument about what is being taught. You've tipped you hat by trying to make the comparison to the Taliban and can’t be taken serious
  10. I could care less what a private school does for the simple fact it is a matter of choice to attend one. If a parent doesn’t like what is being taught they can simply move the child to another school. Your time would be better spent on the children and parents who have little to no choice in what happens at public schools.
  11. The request is not "moot". They are pumping more oil than can be used at the moment and it is driving down prices. It takes time to bring supply above demand for a product that requires production. Basic supply and demand here... The Saudis are pumping lots of oil making more available. You have to ask the question why they would intentionally push the price of oil lower. If they turned the pumps off the price would sky rocket so don't try to say it doesn't have an impact.
  12. I could put anything I wanted on my corporate cards. If I didn't expense them the charges came out of my pay. The company I have now lets me use my own card so I just expense it, but the previous company required all purchases be made on the company card in order to be reimbursed. Without a more detailed look I don’t see a problem here.
  13. It'd be really easy for you to scan the documents and post them for everyone to see. Why not do that??
  14. Was by your admission four years ago. The market has changed dramatically since then. What people used to turn their noses down at now looks great because it pays a wage. The ignorance being displayed here is pathetic. What do some of you expect?? Lots of low paying jobs will bring in some medium paying jobs and a few high paying ones. They don't all need to be or will be within the same company or organization! Money will be spent here in the county because of this and that will support other jobs. People working those jobs will then spend money that supports even more jobs and so on...
  15. A home study costs $1k to $3k? They better be remolding the rooms the children will be staying in for that price!
  16. I was officially hired on as an "engineer". I do not have a college degree. I present myself to customers as an engineer. I am not licensed by the state of GA. I do hold multiple IT certifications. Am I breaking the law???
  17. Crappy product?? You're throwing drivel out there in an attempt to cover your inability make your argument... I buy my jeans at JCP for under $30 a pair usually. Shirts are normally around $12. I buy my shoes off their clearance rack for under $30 a pair. Last pair I purchased was some nice Dockers for $15... I buy my boy stuff there cheaper than I can at the outlet malls most of the time. At JCP I don't have to look for 20% off. I don't need a coupon. I don't have to shop 9am - 11am on the fifth tuesday of the 6th month for the best price. It is simple and easy.
  18. Boot camp was one big arse shower with room for about 20 people. Crappers had walls but no doors. You couldn't talk to the guy next to you face to face but you sure could the guy across from you! Barracks were two people per room with two rooms per shower. If you were lucky, an E5 would get his own room. I was lukcy half my time and an E5. =/ Tents = 8 - 10 people. "Tins" = 6 - 8 people. No walls in either.
  19. You got lucky. At the base I was stationed at you had to be an E6 before you'd get a chance to live off base unless you were married. The Navy and Air Force appear to be much more liberal with their money than Marine and Army. Our "extras" were always less than other departments we worked with. But I was a Marine and no other branch could offer that!
  20. I have 1,000,000 picofarads to every one of your microfarads!
  21. You’re one of very few on this forum that I consider relevant to issues like this so please continue to share your thoughts.
  22. I like JCP. It is the first place I go when I'm looking for myself. I like the good prices on everything and hate playing the "sale" game because half the time it’s not even a decent price. I find better deals at the local JCP then I do at the outlet malls and "discount" stores. Maybe it’s because I am a guy and don't like running between 10 different stores trying to save $1?? I'd actually be disappointed to see JCP go away and there is no other clothing store I'd say that about.
  23. Lets just go ahead and nip this in the butt. Nitro & Guard dad both needs to show us their capacitors and we'll decide which one is biggest...
  24. I'd agree with that statement. I think it should be more for the lower ranks, but I knew many enlisted families that lived off only their military pay. The problems came more from lack of money management skills than lack of money.
