Bad flux capacitor in the time circuit controls.

There are a huge number of crooks in the roofing business right now. Don't pay anything up-front. Pay only upon satisfactory completion. Generally speaking....legitimate companies don't ask for money up-front unless there are special order materials. Even then, get a written contract with stated completion times and monetary penalties for missing these completion times.

R-22 is being phased out, similar to the way R-12 did several years ago. Production has not yet stopped, but it is being reduced to a lower level every year until it will no longer be produced. R-22 that is removed from existing equipment can still be reclaimed and resold indefinitely. So there will be R-22 available for a long time, but it will probably get pretty expensive. There are also alternative refrigerants that can be used in R-22 systems. Typically, there will be some loss in capacity and/or efficiency because they don't work quite as well; but there are improved refrigerants co

The 'light switch' is the service disconnect for the furnace, it's required by code. When you're flipping it on and off you're resetting the unit and it will run until the error code takes it out again. My guess...dirty coil, dirty filter, bad condenser fan or blower motor. You'd better get a pro out there before you make the problem worse.

It will say on the tag. But 10 year old units will almost certainly be R-22.

He said you were ugly, dress funny, and you smell bad. OK...not really, I just figured that would get a rise out of you. -
Fingers crossed!

You more than hold your own, anyway.

She'll be OK so long as she's not in DC.

Red flag! A ten year old system will be an R-22 unit. These units are almost gone; a few left around but all the new units use R-410. Even if an R-22 unit can be found, it won't work to it's rated capacity or efficiency with a 10 year old coil. The newer units, even the R-22 units of the last 3-4 years, operate at lower condensing temps to achieve the higher efficiency ratings; so they don't match exactly right to the older evaporator coils. In some cases, these mismatches will actually shorten compressor life. Bottom line...you should replace the indoor coil and lineset with the

Can you guess which one I am?

I will add....most of these companies have gone belly up over the years. Just last year, one of the largest ones filed bankruptcy and then out sold to another company...leaving millions of dollars of claims unpaid. I was lucky, they only got me for several thousand.

Still hard to beat HP

Most of these warranty companies have a terrible reputation. They try to weasel out of coverage and they tend to use the "bottom of the barrel" when it comes to servicers. I wouldn't recommend it. As for your A/C...find a local service company you like and get on a regular maintenance contract with them. Money better spent and they will usually give you priority service for being a maintenance customer.

Neat! We drive through there occasionally. So pretty!

Typically, a blank thermostat indicates a loss of control voltage. This can be due to power being lost to the indoor unit, a bad transformer, a bad control fuse, broken thermostat wire, etc. The indoor and outdoor units are on separate breakers, so you might have checked the wrong one. The thermostat is powered from the 24 volt control transformer. This is on the indoor unit; a furnace if you have gas heat, the indoor air handler if you have a heat pump. If you have a furnace, the breaker will be a single pole (115 volt). A heat pump air handler will be a double pole (230 volt). If

First, stop looking for a "diet." In this context it implies temporary, and that is a precursor to failure. Lifestyle change is the only way to take it off and keep it off. Eat healthy and exercise.

She is a living testimony to what exercise can do for you. Well done!

You were fortunate to get someone so quickly this time of the year. Good on 'em.

Don't pull his finger though. Vewwy Scawwy!

You mean these? Actually a thermal fuse, not a capacitor. If it gets to hot, it opens the circuit.

What is the difference between the diferent boards?

He had the Cross-dresser Board open. -
Before the "big box" stores, you couldn't even buy some of these items without hiring a professional. And you would have paid a lot more for it, adjusting for inflation. I'm not necessarily saying it's better now, just putting things into perspective. Hey 'pip, how do they do it in Europe?
