The brother is gay as a 4-door Corvette.

Same here. We watch very little network TV, and only certain shows at that. Most of what they put of TV these days is garbage. I get very tired of Hollywood's social agendas and their catering to certain groups and demographics.

If he comes to my house, attack critter will own part of his butt.

Mechanic's hand cleaner. Not the citrus stuff, the original GoJo type.

I remember him. Yes, I'm old. RIP Mitch

Superheat is the temperature drop of the refrigerant across the evaporator coil. Subcooling is the temp drop of the liquid line as compared to the calculated temp of the refrigerated in the condenser. He should be using electronic thermometers on the copper lines inside and out. You could fudge some on the older systems. The new ones are pretty critical when it comes to these things.

Possibly the expansion valve acting up. It could also be the trash or moisture I mentioned. The new evap coil will have an expansion valve in it. Make sure he replaces the drier when he changes the coil, and then confirm proper charge using superheat/subcooling method while in 2nd stage cooling mode. Just feeling of the lines isn't good enough anymore.

Probably the same problem that is causing the pressure controls to trip, but the pressures aren't as extreme at night. Speculating at this point, a tech will need to get some instrumentation on the unit and put it through it's paces to diagnose. Make sure he checks it in both first and second stages of operation and make sure the blower speed changes with the stages. Some units have 2-speed or variable-speed condenser fan motors as well. If yours does, it should ramp up/down as well. A common problem on the R-404a systems is trash in the expansion valve. Many of the installers don't i

It's probably tripping one of the pressure controls which is locking the controller out on a fault. By cycling the breaker you are resetting it.
-
It's probably tripping on either high or low pressure.
-
The breaker you are cycling...is it for the indoor or outdoor unit?

The multi-stage systems are great! Problem is, 99% of the techs out there are not qualified to service them. When in 1st stage, your blower speed should only run at approximately 60% of it's 2nd stage speed. So yes, it should ramp up and down as it switches between low and high capacities. Anytime your room temp is 1-2 degrees above the setpoint (in cooling mode), the second stage should kick in and give you 100% capacity. When you cycle the breaker, you are resetting the control board from a possible error. Improper charge or moisture in the system are possible causes. I would h

Actually, RNG makes the racket and blames it on me. Really nice to meet you guys. And...I met Caped Crusader today too. I pulled up at Sam's gas pumps and there was this dufus looking guy next to me in a Hawaiian shirt. I knew it had to be him, so I said "hey, are you CC"? And the rest is history.

Will wearing a thong satisfy the dress code?

Ahhh, dang. I might not make it then.

I'm hoping to make it.

Lemme know, my wife's office has the same problem.
