  1. Can't answer the poll as no responses fist me. My parents were married happily for many years until my dad becm an alcoholic. He became abusive to the kids. At that point my mom was ready to divorce him. My dad was killed in an explosion that he caused before the divorce was started. Later my mom married the man I claim as my father. I give both credit for being a good dad but my stepdad raised me from 12 years on and has done so much for my family and myself that I will always claim him as my father. They have been together for about 34 years now.
  2. We have always done Halloween at our house. The problem is that our neighbor hood ssems to have been eclipsed by another just down the road and we rarely get trick or teaters. We'll get the 10 or so that wander by that I believe are acually on their way from ours to the other subdivision. And with all the other parents from our subdivision going over there, we have no one else lft to trick or treat with. Don't get me wrong, I love the other place, they go all out. I just feel bad because I feel like a mooch sending my kids there. I have stayed home to give out treats while the wife took the k
  3. Log Cabin Dr. currently runs off Cumberland Pkwy jus inside the perimeter at the red light at Cobb Station #4 / Zone #3 as Beech Haven Trl. / Eberhardt St. / Log Cabin Dr to the intersection with Atlanta Rd.
  4. Rape is one of the "7 deadly" as far as crime goes in the US. As far as property destruction, vandilism, interference with government property and a whole host of EPA and other office violations go, it may not be violent but sure as heck is not respectful and peaceful.
  5. I was chatting with an air traffic controller in Bagdad earlier today. He is a civillian contractor working 3 months (it may have been 2) and then back for a month.
  6. The BP station across from the CVS has been closed since shortly after a Cobb officer was shot in its parking lot. I worked around the corner at Station 7 for (Hurt and Hicks rd) many years. The area definately has some issues.
  7. I'm in a helpful mood so try this one.
  8. Just a follow up froma conversation with a fellow FF about this. He works in a Urgent Care Facility on his off days. They had a guy come in who had been feeding some deer, not as friendly as yours it seems. A doe head butted his leg at the knee. That caused a Tib /Fib "plateau" fracture just below the joint. Ouch!! Please be careful as yours does have antlers to go with an apparantly hard head.
  9. It is all a matter of mind-over-matter... If you don't mind, it don't matter.
  10. C'mon, just oversized rabbit poop. What's so bad about that?
  11. Doubtful, but it sounds like something that 1 of the jr. Tows might be deserving of.
  12. I see the same people follow me around and hit me with negs even when just posting numbers and calculations. I'm really sorry you do not like math. I like it becuse it doesn't lie and you are either right or you are wrong.
  13. Just for you NJ... :pardon: I couldn't help myself
  14. Let's take the big blue box for example. And I did work for them for many years. A 4 year associate starting from high school may have worked up to a Dept. manager or maybe a cashier supervisor if they were good. I college graduate would likely be hired in as an assistant store manager supervising the associate. The Company assumes that he has the needed learned skills to complete their OJT and are already able to supervise employees while working their job. The other employee will have lots of experience with how to stock shelves, push buggies, and deal with customers. it should be noted that
  15. Ummm... Have you looked at my signature line lately? Anyway... Is college worth $40-60k / year or even in total? No. I Paid for mine as I went and WORKED in the retail business world. Total cost (not including housing as I lived at home) around $15,000 at KSU There are many aspects of work that you will just not get from an "apprenticeship" or OJT. That is the part that you are failing to see. Learning how to write proposals, where to find information, how to organize it and then present it. Not all employers are willing to take on an employee with zero experience in a given area but
  16. I disagree. College is not a trade school. You do not learn just how to do 1 job. There are requirements across many arts and skills. Math, Reading, History are still required at higher levels. And then there is the whole concept of the college degree that you forgot to mention. The simple act of going to and suceeding at college goes to show "what you as an possible employee are made of." The classes you take teach you not just the curriculum but HOW to accomplish tasks and assignements. Where to find information. How to sort out the peices you do not need. How to put it all together and fina
  17. Well he did pick up an extra hand from his brother...
  18. Through and through shot. Someone tageted the deer and Carl was on the opposite side and took the bullet after it went through.
  19. The Walking Dead series returns for its 2nd season opener tonight. I didn't watch it last season but just recently saw the season on NF. Some what interesting series. I get a chuckle out of seeing my sister's church van in the show which is filmed locally. So, now that we know when it begins anew... For those that watched it, what are the plot holes you noticed most? Here are some of mine. 1. When he wakes up in the abandoned hospital with no power, he goes to the nurse's station and grabd a book of.... matches? Really? When does this take place again? 2. I understand the c
  20. Just so you know GB... The link I posted to BMI includes waistline in its calculations. If you have a small / healthy waistline then the BMI includes that in its calculations. http://www.webmd.com/diet/calc-bmi-plus Really!? A negative rating for posting pure information. Who pissed in your wheaties this morning. Care to explain why me informing GB that the linked BMI calculator factors waist size into its calculations was such a bad statement?
  21. And I wholehearted agree with that. 88 cents for a frozen dinner. YES!!! Now look on the back at the calories... NOOO FREAKING WAY!!!
  22. You can always tell a German, You just can't Tell them much. :p :p
  23. If they understand and admit to the relationship between their actions and their condition and attempt to do something about it but fail then I can not ask for more. I would offer my support and encouragement not ridicule. I have never teased anyone about their weight. I think there are some thinking that I am harping on folks because they are obese. My actual issue is with folks that are obese and trying to lay the blame solely on Genetics / health issues while ignoring their own contributing actions. When they admit to this, then they will be much better off. As eluded to earlier, it is much
