Was on Dabbs Bridge Road tonight and say about a six or eight point buck by the side of the road grazing, but he didn't jump out. Whew.

Who has ever lived around toll roads/interstates
The Sound Guy replied to Cathyhelms's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I've spent about the last year working in Middletown, NJ, right off of the the Garden State Parkway. They have business and homes right near the parkway with no issues. The parkway is always the first to be de-iced after a storm since they have a steady supply of money from the tolls (and they know that money will stop if the drivers can't drive on it) and is well taken care of. Granted, heavy trucks are not allowed on the Parkway and I'm sure that made maintenance much easier. -
Yehaw!!! 5.32 Mbs, back to normal!

<Sigh> Still Broke.

We've had to use S&S Towing so much I added them to speed dial on my cell phone. Always did us well. PM for contact info.

If I was Cobb, I'd done it a long time ago since Paulding County drivers swamp their roads every day going to Atlanta to work.

Thanks, how did you find that out? Bellsouth used to have an outage page that would keep us up to date. Yea, I took the free static IP when they offered it, dummy me. Should have known it would shoot me in the foot later. Still, all I hear is how this stuff is supposed to be "Carrier Grade" network gear in the core, then stuff like this happens. Our gear is supposed to switch a backup in place within 60 ms of the failure, but data switches are allowed to run amok for days on end and it's A-OK! Doesn't seem quite fair....

This is getting ridiculous. If I could make heads or tails out of the Comcast web site I'd already be selecting my new service.

Gotta love it. Go to the DSL support page, download the "Troubleshoot and Resolve Tool" and the bloody thing won't install. (now THAT's ironic) Try to chat with support and the chat window opens and just hangs. Finally I try to talk to someone, I get a recording that "there is an issue in your area that is supposed to be fixed by 4:30 PM Tuesday. Our representatives have no more information on this issue". In other words "Don't call us, we'll fix it when we're ready to". What a freaking mess. I work at home and this internet is my business. At least tell me what the heck is

Dang Girl, don't give those turkeys in the Capital any ideas!! They'd take your idea seriously...
-
Ah, if so, I missed that. Glad I got mine in quickly!!

We just had a first set! Didn't have any at all last year, so we had to eat all the candy ourselves.

Ah. We were out most of the weekend so I didn't notice it. it works most of the time, but sometimes half a web page will get lost, other times it just takes FOREVER to get a page to load. Thanks.
-
Dang. Well that could be good news or bad news, if it's that wide spread, they should be getting tired of complaints by now and get off their duff and fix it. I miss Bellsouth, there used to be a web site to go to and they would have all the major outages and service issues listed. You could see right away if there was a problem in your area.

OK, then they need to cover it. Not sure if there is govt agency in charge of it however. The IRS allows them, but never heard of them being regulated. I'd start with the customer service number of the company that services the accounts.

Running www.att.com/speedtest results in a download speed of less than 1 mbs, I usually get 5-6 mbs. Thought I'd ask to see if it's just me before I go off to battle AT&T. I'm on the Dabbs Bridge Road DSLAM if anyone is in that area.

Was the expense billed before you left that job? If not, then it's not reimbursable. The Flex Spending Accounts close when you leave the company. Our division was getting bought last year, so I checked into this pretty closely. FSA is designed to have risk on both sides, if you spend the money and then leave the company, you do NOT have to pay back money you spent but never put in. (Company Risk) However, the reverse is also true, if you put in the FSA and then leave without spending it, then the money reverts back to your old company.(Your Risk) At least that was the way it wo

Yep. 30 years ago they had one guy estimate the readings for almost a year before getting fired and the new guy actually read the meters. Bills for various people were from $0 to huge. Many in our neighborhood were irate.
-
What I've seen in the past is that the meter readers get lazy and start estimating your readings rather than actually getting out and reading the meter. Then after 3 or 4 months of that, they actually read it and you are either higher or lower than the reading and you make up all the difference at once.

Has everyone turned their heat on already?
The Sound Guy replied to d5nelson's topic in Business NEWS
Yes. Dad has always been an advocate of heavy insulation, even in the South. Our builder on the other hand was of the opinion we wasted 2" of our house having 2x6 vs 2x4 outer walls. Of course, it didn't help that the builder had the A/C contractor size the heating/cooling units as if we had normal insulation. So I ended up with dual 2 1/2 ton units that don't run NEAR enough to dehumidify enough if left at 78. I have to run the bedroom units at 74 all summer just to dry the rooms out. However, it's a ranch, so I knew we'd have higher energy bills without the insulation vs a 2 stor -
Check this link at MS. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810869 Hopefully one of those methods will work.

Has everyone turned their heat on already?
The Sound Guy replied to d5nelson's topic in Business NEWS
Nope. With 11" walls (3 1/2" Brick, 1/2" Air, 1" Foam, 5 1/2" Fiberglass, 1/2" sheetrock) It takes a pretty cold day to start drawing down the temp with all the heat that we produce inside the house. Lowest I've seen it inside was 68 degrees in the bedroom area. Now, the A/C has been running on the warm days, so don't think I'm saving money yet... -
That's who I'm with now.

I use a fixed rate, but I'm a control freak so it fits me. If you'd like a price comparison, check out the PSC Rate site. All the marketers are required to post their month by month prices here.
