Republikkklan Teabillies - Georgia is in a mess
The Sound Guy replied to Coppertop's Pop's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I second Guard Dad. Many Republican supporters know the Republicans suck, they just believe they suck less than the Democratic alternatives. It's the lesser of two evils theory. Neither party really supports a conservative line. (Que Well Read's Voodoo line) Were the Democrats to present a decent alternative candidate that was his own man (or woman) I'd vote for them in an instant. If the independents had a chance with out system, we'd vote for them, but the system we have pretty much eliminates them from winning. We'd not vote for Republicans to tell them that we don't like t -
Yep, being a techie, I dove into my uverse modem as soon as the tech drove away. Even though I only have voice and internet, I have dual pairs serving me, that's one reason I ended up with 22 mbs down. I feel quite sure that if i had ordered TV, I'd find my download speed cut considerably when watching multiple channels.

Now that business model would make sense. They already own the poles and ROW, so a major cost is taken off the plate. Repeating myself, I know I would love to have another reasonable option for internet, i just don't think that the politics of the local government will ever make the correct choices to have a good business plan.

Neat idea, but why did you post in the Optional forums? -
It might be nice to have a third option for internet should the county be able to build it out and run it correctly, but I would guess that our commissioners would hire somebody's brother's wife's cousin's step sister who knows nothing about telecomunnications to run the thing, after all that's what they did for the airport and the movie studio. After a while, they'd sell it for a loss, just like Marietta did Lightnet, just to get it off their plate. The problem is that AT&T and Comcast have most of the dense area's covered by internet, just like public transportation, we are too s

Sigh. I think it's stupid that I should have to play such games, but I guess I'm going to have to try it. Between ATT Cellular, ATT home and Comcast, it's close to $400 a month.

We really like Pacific Spice, but it's at Cedarcrest and US41 north of Seven hills. Never had anything bad there. http://pacificspicerestaurant.com/acworthmenu.html -
A friend got that type of letter several years ago in the west cobb area. He was then told that his DSL would be cancelled. I got offers, but no notice that it was uverse or the highway. I don't know why they would do that in some areas, but not others. I finally upgraded to uverse not long ago as I was convinced ATT was bandwidth starving the DSL users to help push them towards the change. I only switched what I had with ATT before, phone / Internet and have had pretty good service so far. Beware of anyone calling you however. I think some of those are ATT contractors that w

I'm an engineer. I KNOW the world is still full of surprises. It's kinda like religion. When I meet anyone who states that their version of religion, Christian or not, has all the answers I immediately walk away. Nobody has God completely figured out and no one has the weather completely figured out. If they did, the weather forecasts would be good more that 1 hour before it happens. You, Peaches, are a member of a cult. I've never said I had a problem with there being possible Climate change. What I do have a problem with is people insisting that it only has one cause and they

I had a running problem with one of mine a couple of weeks ago, turned out to be the float on filler valve was failing and letting the water get too high. Another one I had problems with was caused by the flapper at the bottom of the tank leaking (used the clorox auto cleaning tablets, ate the sucker right up) Replacing either part is pretty easy with parts from HD, Loews or Ace hardware. Cost about $15 for the parts for both vs $150 or so for a plumber. Unless you are good at plumbing, I agree that replacing that floor valve is a plumber job. I called Skyline when my septic s

Is Your TV Watching You? It Very Well Could Be. CNN Money
The Sound Guy replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
More importantly, it may be listening to you. Samsungs new voice command TVs are a lot like SIRI, in that they send your voice over the internet to a 3rd party to have it interpreted into commands. The difference being that SIRI only does it when you've activated it, the Samsung TV does it all the time to "Listen" for a command. So if you are ordering something on the phone in front of your TV, it will send your voice speaking your credit card number out to that 3rd party firm who may do with it what they will. At least Samsung was willing to put it in writing where you could kno -
Now you shoot yourself in the foot with your own words. Your phrase "being hastened" means it was happening anyway, i.e. no matter what happens we're warming. So do we spend trillions trying to stop the unstoppable or do we look for ways to live it it? The liberal ideology is that we MUST reverse it whether or not it it happens naturally as has been PROVEN by SCIENCE to have occurred for millions of years in the fossil records. Four Ice ages remember? Assuming that man has the ability to "fix" anything he thinks is broken no matter what the cause is the height of pride. And pride ha

I may take you up on that when I get back in town. Did you get hard floor or carpet ones? I need them for carpet downstairs and hard floor upstairs. -
PCHS is now considered the golden crown of the Paulding County school system. Oh yea, and everyone is pleased as punch with our local politicians and wish they could be permanently installed.

In the Florida nest, it was the oldest chick that died last year. It ate so much of the other chicks food that it became engorged or something and it killed it. The smaller chick then grew fine and later fledged.

Can we please get correct information about the airport?
The Sound Guy replied to tundra's topic in RECENT TOPICS
We've got an GA Airport. Due to the economy, it's had some issues (and a tornado) and the original business plan had not worked out yet. So just as the economy starts taking off again which might let the original business plan take off again, our commissioners decide to spend half again as much on it to do something completely different that is risky as hell. Great idea. NOT. It had everything in place to be a good GA airport. All it was costing the county was 2 1/2 salaries and benefits and a little maintenance. Drop all this commercial air traffic crap, get a good manager -
No, the democrats are betting our grandchildren's life on the thin thread that not only is any global change we see mankind's fault, but that it's *reversible*. Not a hint of what they plan to do if it doesn't stop after we spend trillions trying to change our economy and lifestyle to reduce the emissions they claim are causing this. If it's NOT emissions based, what the heck do they plan to do with a bankrupt economy? Pretty thin tread to bet everyone's life on.

Interesting Theory on ISIS - Why are they so agressive?

I had wondered why everything ISIS did seemed to be overly over the top and antagonizing to the rest of the world. What is there angle? Why try to piss off the entire world, Muslims included? I figured it was just there way of trying to get recruits of all the crazies in the world. However, this CNN article gives an interesting theory that indeed they want the world to attack them. Source Bold is mine. Snipped stuff is interesting, I recommend reading the entire article. Looking at them as cult explains their lack of rationality a lot. Doesn't quite explain how IS

Yea interesting. I did find this: Source I guess the fact that he shot first has the police vultures at bay. -
A lot of it I think stems from lack of information about what is really going on. How many people in this county that don't access Pcom do you think know jack all about the airport and the way it was handled? All they see are the support site on facebook shared and billboards promising $120 flights somewhere. (Macon?) So they think all is wonderful. I trusted the local government a *whole* lot more when I moved here 15 years ago than I do now. Most of that change came from information gathered from interactions from Pcom peeps.

I rush home from church to cut down the pine tree in the back yard that has been leaning towards the house because they are predicting ice and it all goes away. You're welcome.
