  1. Don't get me started on reporters, esp for the MDJ. Little things like getting correct facts are way out of their job description.
  2. The ability to add a topic ignore button so some topics won't show up in the Recent Topic list? Please?
  3. Thanks. They should have named it "Support General Aviation only at Silver Comet Field" or something like that so both pages would show up in the same searches.
  4. Looking at other cams, I found that the savannah eagle cam has become the Savannah Horned Owl Cam! The eagles didn't come back this year for some reason and the owls claimed the valuable real estate. Landings Bird Cam
  5. is there an anti commercial traffic Facebook page?
  6. This is really critical in a rental car. I nearly got clobbered in NJ when the rental car I had was equipped with just daylight driving lights and I thought it was automatic headlights like my car.
  7. Baby cut a tooth today, it was a new bicuspid. When daddy got the news that night, he really was disgusted. Because daddy has no teeth you see, he lost them one by one, Now when it's time to eat, poor daddy has no fun. How does daddy eat you say, without no teeth to chew? Well daddy does the only thing that poor ol' dad can do. Dad gum it!
  8. Puns: The farmers kid's had left a orange in one of the chickens nests as a joke on the their dad. One of the baby chicks saw it and exclaimed to his sister: Hey, look at the Orange Mama laid! First cat: "How did you do in the milk-drinking competition?" Second cat: "I won by six laps." Two boll weevils grew up in South Carolina. One went to Holywood and became a famous actor. The other stayed in the cotton fields and never amounted to much. The second one, naturally, became known as the lesser of two weevils. A three-legged dog walks into a saloon in the Old West. He slides up to th
  9. This is supposedly a true story from a recent Defence Science Lectures Series, as related by the head of the Australian DSTO's Land Operations/Simulation division. They've been working on some really nifty virtual reality simulators, the case in point being to incorporate Armed Reconnaissance Helicopters into exercises (from the data fusion point of view). Most of the people they employ on this sort of thing are ex- (or future) computer game programmers. Anyway, as part of the reality parameters, they include things like trees and animals. For the Australian simulation they included kangaroos
  10. I remember in the middle 60s my dad refusing to go to the stations with gas at 32 cents per gallon, that was "highway robbery!". We went where it was only 27 cents per gallon. How that would change between then and the middle 70s. I would point out that a barrel of oil was only 3$ or so in the sixties, it would skyrocket to $12 a barrel during the oil embargo of the 1973.
  11. Well, that was several balloons going off at once, but yea, we used to do it. I first wondered why the guy that made them made the balloons so small (about the size of your fist, maybe a little bigger) until the first one went off. Sounded like half a stick of dynamite. I had someone tell me they had a drunk guy in FL inflate a big beach ball with it and light it. Supposed to have blown a huge crater in the sand and blew out windows all around.
  12. oxygen -acetylene balloons. Make a huge boom, leave no trace behind but a little scorched rubber. (unless you have it too close to something like the truck below:)
  13. Sounds to me as if the county is going to be paying lawyers either way, either defending the project or defending the attempt to end the project. That advantage is that if the BOC manages to the end the project we don't have to have our taxes guarantee millions in bonds that we are very likely to end up having to pay anyway with a deluxe unused facility when Propeller goes bankrupt and bails when it doesn't work leaving us with the mess. On another note, it is interesting to confirm why the old BOC split off the AA from their control, the immediate response of Austin that it would b
  14. I have to agree that the Prince is lying his butt off. It *is* a market economy. Enough supply gets cut off and/or demand rises, the price will be right back up there. Heck, enough inflation from the free money the fed and govt is giving out and the price will be back up there without any more demand. The fact that many in this country's middle class are idiots will help push it up as dealers are already reporting a much higher interest in low mileage larger SUVs and trucks while the price is down. <sigh> It seem more and more true... those who don't know history are doo
  15. Pre-9/11, I used to use 4 hours as my dividing line of whether it was worth it to fly vs drivings. You figure you need to leave the house 2 hours before flight time (more if during rush hour or you want to make sure an accident doesn't have you miss the plane) and then an hour loading/ unloading the plane and getting out of the airport. Now, I imagine it will be more like a minimum 6 hour drive to make it worth driving.
  16. A Facebook post of a friend of mine got me thinking about this: It's a shame that Radical ISIS Muslims spent the last year or so raping and murdering thousands and thousands of Christians all across the area they control as well as systematically destroying a number of ancient Christian cities and churches and most of the world gave a yawn to it. However, you have 12 atheists get killed and suddenly the Islamic terrorists are worth world leaders getting together and wild protest marches and many pages of discussion. Is it because they did it here and not there? if you want to see
  17. So, it sounds like, the county was "working" with this developer which appears to mean they were allowing him to pump mud in the creek all he wanted as long as the State EPA didn't catch them and they only stopped it when they discovered the state was going to catch the county not doing their job. Yea, sounds like the GOB network is still up and running strong.
  18. I think the playoff system showed it's worth the first try. Some "#5" team.
  19. Maybe they won the low bid but the fine print in the bid said they only cut from Sept to May
  20. So after 10 years they are moving the Water Dept back to where it was? <virtual head shaking>
  21. Are they really having issues with the 2nd camera or have I just had really bad luck that it's always down when I check the nest?
  22. As I recall, they moved into that building since we moved here, I think it was less than 10 years ago. I imagine it's *really* expensive to move an entire department and I can't figure out why they would move out of a building constructed just for them. On top of that, to move them before the new building is ready so they have to move and tear down/set up twice seems really, really stupid. Wonder what kind of political back office deals were involved in this deal?
  23. I don't have as much of a problem with him not attending since this march was very last minute. I truly believe that *any* American President is a much more likely target than any of the European leaders and the Secret Service cannot protect him properly in such a quick turn around. If anything happens to Pres. Obama, we end up with Pres. Biden which would be an even worse disaster in my opinion. I do agree with the statements that the president should have presented a strong statement against radical Islamic Terrorism Edited to add that travel time has to be a big concern as well,
