  1. Here is the news story..... DALLAS, Ga. -- A father charged with killing his 12-year-old son faced a judge Tuesday morning, where bond was set at $30,000. Shayaa Forbes was arrested earlier this month after calling 911 to report his son Eric had drowned in the bathtub. An investigation determined Eric Forbes had been abused for years. His father was arrested and charged with murder. The case rocked the Paulding County neighborhood where the family lived. 3. In my opinion Georgia is not sticking it to us....the ACA is. States are opting out because of uncertainty and lack of funds. If they opt-in they get help for the short term but what happens after that? We must think down the road. I know that many school systems were asked to participate in RACE TO THE TOP, another wonderful idea, on the surface. They promised money and incentives but no ideas or support on what to do when the money ran out in five years and there were many strings attached. There is way more to opting out than just Georgia "sticking it to us. As I said multiple times.....My
  4. I am a conservative and will never apologize for it....I also research and go off of my own personal experience in my own little circle...my immediate family members. We are all being impacted negatively as a result of ACA, pure and simple. I personally think we need to overhaul the other handouts before we implement any more. Also, if you had a grown son that was "trying" to live the American dream and had to pay $350 a month for meds, how would you react? We (my family) know that hardships are a given and we have persevered through many trials, however, this is impacting his little family in
  5. What??? No comments from our resident Obama followers.....I'm sure they have an answer that doesn't involve the current president. I'm pretty sure it's Bush's fault.....
  6. I was exagerrating....I know there ARE people that fall into that category, however, we need an overhaul to weed out that ones that are the deadbeats......not sure what the answer is but giving more handouts is not the answer.
  7. I don't mind helping others as long as they are trying to help themselves. If they are not helping themselves by working, seeking work, not doing drugs, and not lying about their circumstances, then I don't mind helping but how many TRULY fall into that category????
  8. Prayers for you and thanks Nina. He has tried several different meds since he was diagnosed 12 years ago. The last one was Topamax that resulted in 12 kidneys stones at one time! I had to pick him up off the side of a mountain as he was hiking the Appalachian Trail! We have had our share of adventures but we are strong and will make it through whatever cones our way!
  9. Sorry for yet another ACA post....however, I discovered something upsetting last night. My son and his wife are young and have a 1 1/2 year old and they choose for her to stay home. He is a teacher and coach and happens to have epilepsy. After many meds, the med that works best for him is Lamictal and is very expensive. They finally came out with a generic, however, he had a seizure while on the generic. He must have name brand. He had gotten his meds down to $90 a month via mail order 90 day. Under his new state health benefit plan his meds will be $350 a month!! There is no way they can affo
  10. I know I posted this fellow on here two weeks ago but I have to find him a home or even a foster home. The people that have him now are threatening to take him to the shelter as they already have several dogs. I cannot take him because of renting right now....my heart is breaking. I love this guy so much and want him to have a good home. I have taken him around children and many other animals and he show NO aggression whatsoever. He just wants to be loved. Again, we are not sure what his breed is but Dr. Carpenter says he is a shar-pei mix. He does look alot like a pit bull but has lots of wri
  11. I've never understood the whining and crying.....I stand by my teams through the good and the bad. They are NOT going to be perfect all of the time. Sure, I get frustrated but, I love the Braves, the Falcons, (don't like basketball), and I'm a proud FSU fan. I have stuck by these teams through the good and the bad. Before you ask about FSU, my uncle got me hooked on FSU way back when.....he lived in Steinhatchee, Florida and they are true, blue NOLES. I have loved them ever since....
  12. Now that a "deal" has been reached we need to continue to pray for our country.
  13. I teach 9th grade literature......I treat my students with the utmost respect. They do not treat me the same. We are raising a much different generation of kids. Entitlement is the key word.....come observe one day in my classroom....
  14. I do love this but I'm not sure how many will heed this advice. I teach freshmen in highschool and the entitlement/apathy mentality is in full swing. Students want to be spoon fed and have no desire to work for something. There are a handful of students that are willing to work hard but they are truly the minority. And, if you think calling the parents will help, you have another thing coming. I have a brand new co-teacher that came in with all of the new and exciting best practices. I have tried them all....nothing works to engage and motivate these students. I didn't want to dampen her spiri

  17. So thankful he is going to be okay....I could not get him off of my mind.
  18. I really don't like hearsay but can't get this little boy off of my mind. A Facebook post said that his neck was possibly broken.....I couldn't imagine. Still praying he is okay....
  19. I heard that a ten year old football player was life flited from Hiram Ruritan with possible neck injury. Would like to know how he is. Prayers for this young man and his family
  20. Agreed.....I hope I can stop by as well!
  21. I just read their website....Thank you so much!!!
  22. I'm fine.....it's you and Dana that seem to be taking things a little too seriously.
  23. Wow! I will say that I am not and never have been a fair weather fan. I have and always will love and support the Falcons, in good times and bad. I feel the same way about the Braves. I have been a fan of both teams for many years and have never wavered. It's a game people.....
