    RIP Barney

This is from his FB page..... Statement by President George W. Bush on the passing of Barney Bush: "Laura and I are sad to announce that our Scottish Terrier, Barney, has passed away. The little fellow had been suffering from lymphoma and after twelve and a half years of life, his body could not fight off the illness. Barney and I enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to accompany me when I fished for bass at the ranch. He was a fierce armadillo hunter. At Camp David, his favorite activity was chasing golf balls on the chipping green. Barney guarded the South Lawn entrance of the W

  4. I teach in Douglas County and we were under tornado warning before the first bell this morning. All students and faculty had to take cover due to tornado warning. A tornado touched down in Whitesburg......let the fun begin.......(sarcasm).
  5. I'm not real big on the old, old movies but I love Debra Winger in Terms of Endearment and Officer and a Gentleman....also Nicole Kidman in Far and Away.

    Topamax

My son took Topamax for several years for epilepsy. He did lose a little weight and never mentioned in other side effects. However, he was hiking in North Georgia and had excrutiating pain and hiked to the road until he got a cell signal. I had to go pick him up off a lonely mountain road. When we got to the emergency room they discovered not one, not two, but twelve kidney stones. He had to have surgery and they quickly changed his seizure medicine. I know medications effect everyone differently and I wish you luck. Just wanted to share our experience.
  7. Thanks for all of the suggestions........I received a PM and I appreciate the advice but I decided to try MOM's just to see what he had to say. He looked at it while I was there and it was a virus that crashed my computer. He is very reasonably priced, no diagnostic fee and I will pick it up on Tuesday!! Thanks everyone!
  8. It's a Compaq Laptop about 3-4 years old. It will not startup.....it does alot of weird stuff. The computer itself went through the "auto fix" and restore and tried to fix the problem but was not able to. I'm not sure if it can be fixed but I have to try.
  9. Are there any independent computer repair shops in Hiram? I know there is one guy on here in Cedarcrest, I believe, but I don't really want to drive that far. Any suggestions???
  10. I predict they will bring him back.....
  11. I need to find a home for Penny, a cat that I rescued a while back. I took her in and have given her a loving home, however, I have had to move and cannot bring her with me. My Dad is watching her temporarily but because of his health he can't keep her either. I have put the word out on here and on Facebook. I DO NOT want to take her to the shelter and it appears that most kitty rescues are full. Any advice on organizations or websites that I can go to to try to find her a good, loving home? Of course I have gotten attached to her and want her to be happy. She's approx. 2-3 years old and is a

  18. I desperately need to find a home for my rescue cat. I found her in downtown Douglasville a while back but I cannot keep her any longer (it's a looonnnggg story). She is a tortoise hair cat and the vet estimates she is 2-3 years old. I am willing to pay for spay. She is a good cat but due to difficult circumstances I simply can't keep her. Please PM me if interested. I will post pics soon.
  19. I'm a huge Robert De Niro fan....my two fave thrillers of his are Cape Fear and Hide and Seek. Also, Primal Fear with Richard Gere These are old movies but great thrillers in my opinion.
  20. Oh, and don't get me started on the electric buggies in the stores......
  21. You beat me to it......my Mom was confined to a wheelchair during her bout with cancer. When I did take her out I would see people without a tag or placard parking all of the time and not leaving those spots for people that really needed them. I lost my Mom many years ago but it is still a HUGE pet peeve of mine. These people should be ashamed!!!!

    NO HEAT

Thanks for all of the concern.....we now have heat and we're warm and toasty. Last night was cold but not too bad. Dad slept in his room with his new space heater. I did call Ragsdale but it was quite a bit extra to come on Friday night. I called my brother and he recommended a friend of his, Lester Heating and Air. He replace a motor and we are warm tonight. Thanks again for all of the information, offers, and concern.
