  1. According to the attached link, suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for our troops. I have had several family members serve in the military, both in war time and peace time. My Brother in law was in the 1st gulf war and is currently under the care of a psychaitrist. My nephew was injured in Iraq and spent time at a hospital in Germany and at Walter Reed Medical Center. He's had to go through psycholical exams to make sure he's ok both physically and mentally. Further, two of my relatives that served in the army during the vietnam era struggled and eventually killed themselves. I s
  2. I look for the Board to raise the mill rate. I don't want out homeowners insurance to go through the roof.
  3. I generally vote against ALL incumbents, but I'll make an exception this time.
  4. 2012 Transportation Investment Act Referendum Paulding county's list is on page 4 of 6 http://dot.ga.gov/localgovernment/FundingPrograms/transreferendum/Documents/ProjectList/Northwest%20GA.pdf I don't like to pay taxes, but at least a sales tax gets everyone, while property taxes only hit property owners and income taxes only hit folks who claim income, etc. (Many folks work for cash and don't pay income taxes) I feel overtaxed already, but I'm not sure about giving Uncle Sam one more cent than I have to! Your thoughts?
  5. The maximum fine for a misdemeanor is $1,000. However I'd still recommend hiring an attorney. This is too important to get screwed up for the rest of your life.
  6. I have moaned and groaned about the administration at PCHS for several years. Under the Segars/McAllister regime, PCHS hit rock bottom. Pubby even booted me off for a week for not being nice and for rambling on and on and on about how awful the administration of that school was. Mr. Fincher was finally brought in to turn things around and hopefully in another year or two, PCHS can again excel both in the classroom and on the field, court, etc.
  7. You should give a character map of everyone in the story Miguel - illegal immigrant waiter Donny - one of the three reprobates Kenny - one of the three reprobates Ray - one of the three reprobates Chris - clerk at sporting goods store Bubba - 11th grade kid, friend of the reprobates Chrystal - drug dealer's girlfriend The waiter Miguel should be deported. His simply being here was a crime. Chris and Bubba did NOTHING out of the ordinary and should not be prosecuted. You could argue that anyone who buys ammo "could" be up to no good and good grief, who among us hasn'
  8. Since Segars and McAllister have left, thinks are looking up for PCHS. I told you so!
  9. The President got this one wrong in my opinion. The school system here in Paulding County and school systems pretty much in all of Georgia have let our kids down time and time again. School Boards should be made up of educated professionals, not beauticians and cops like we have here in Paulding. There should be minimum qualifications to be on the board. At minimum, a college degree should be required to even be on the ballot. At least then, they would understand the challenges. Too bad the good ol' boy network is alive and well here in Paulding County.
  10. I got booted out at age 18 and I never moved back home.
  11. There also needs to be a traffic light in front of Paulding County High School.... the DOT will wait though until a kid gets hit, then agree to install one. It's a shame our government can't respond before there is a problem.

    .....

Under the Republican leadership and Dumbya, we got into two wars, The Stock Markets crashed, the border was being overrun by illegals, etc. The Democrats inherited a huge awful mess. Hey, maybe Newter can pay your tax bill for ya. He made millions lobbying for Fannie & Freddie.

When Roy Barnes was in office, we weren't having this financial meltdown. Thank your Republicans for this debacle.
  14. I voted... I don't like the beginning of August start date that's been shoved down our throat...just sayin'
  15. We need to boot out Austin...then maybe the next chairman won't dare to mention the word "toll"
  16. We pay gas taxes to fund new roads...why then will we also need to pay a toll to use the road? Also, what about eminent domain? If a private company wants to build a road right through my front yard, are they going to have the authority to seize my property if I refuse to sell? I don't like this nonsense that the road won't cost us? I don't believe it. I'm voting NO!!!!!!!!
  17. THIS IS RIDICULOUS..IF HE HAD A PERMIT, WHY WAS HE ARRESTED?
  18. When we bought our house, bubba had done the plumbing...hot was on the right, cold on the left...
  19. Business is booming...if you own a pawn shop, liquor store, gold buyer, tattoo parlor or pay weekly car lot.
  20. The death penalty should be quick and public, but unfortunately Jimmy Berry will file countless appeals and drag this mess out for decades. The defendant is likely to die in prison of old age rather than get executed.... and the taxpayer will pay $Millions in Jimmy Berry's fees.
  21. My brother is an owner-operator of a semi-truck. Most of his freight now comes out of the rail yards in Fairburn. He used to carry a lot of lumber on his flatbed and did a lot of storm work after Katrina, but now that the housing bust has hit, he hasn't hauled a single load of lumber in two years. He also occasionally carries crane equipment and various pieces of construction equipment on his flatbed. Most of his flatbed business has slowed up so bad that he's now pulling loads out of the rail yard at Fairburn. He seems to have better luck there than he did around the Fulton Industrial Area.
  22. To many on this board, the po-po would never lie (or molest children).
  23. Don't forget Sheriff Grogan, who went to prison for a while too...
  24. http://www.ajc.com/news/cherokee/paulding-deputy-held-in-1195826.html A Paulding County former sheriff’s deputy has been arrested on child molestation charges in Cherokee County. Carl Michael Janflone, who had worked for the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office for about four years, was arrested Sept. 30. Janflone is also charged with enticing a child familiar to him for indecent purposes, and police said additional charges were pending. I don't trust the local sheriff. anyone wonder why?
