Going back to my teenage years in my parents neighborhood. One evening I was taking the garbage can up to the end of the driveway when a "strobe" flashbulb effect lit up behind me throwing my shadow. I looked up to the sky, behind me, and see NOTHING. A moment later after I turn around it happens AGAIN. I stop turned around fully.. waiting when BOOM! I come off my feet. Moments later everyone in the neighborhood is standing on their front porches LOOKING AT ME wanting an explanation as to what happened!

You're both close, it's best to stake them in the early morning right before daylight so they don't burst into flames when you pull the tarp off from over the holes they sleep in.

It's a year, and consists of mainly flour and dried beans and such. Think old western style staples that require a fresh water source. The amount needed for one person for one year is actually a lot, like a barrel of beans, big sacks of flour, cornmeal.. etc... I believe the saying is "We're only 7 days away from complete societal breakdown", that is if the way of the world collapsed most folks only have pantries stocked for a week and after that it'd be chaos everywhere with folks rioting and killing each other for a scrap of food. There were many old school ways of prepping and pac

I'm going to invent the "MacRib" spam press. You open a can of spam, or preferably treet, press it with the patented MacRib press, fry it up, slather with overly sweetened BBQ Sauce, slap it in a hoagie bun, and cover liberally with strong raw white onions. Then enjoy! I'll be a billionaire.

BTW, Erick Erickson, over on Redstate.com, wrote up a great summary of what went wrong this election cycle for the Conservative movement.

Actual THC stays in the body/blood for a very very short time. Short enough that if you wanted to determine if someone was "stoned" it would show in a blood screen. THC Metabolites, what your body dumps into the fat cells after processing the drug, stays in the body for a LONG LONG time. This is what "drug tests" test for. They look for the metabolites and not the actual THC. Metabolites can stay in the body for as long as 12-18 months depending on body type, metabolism, activity levels, potency. The 30 days and you're clean after smoking marijuana is a myth on many levels

I heard it was going to be an Arcade with PacMan and Galaga!

Yup, most legit postings will have a way to cross reference them online. And usually by doing so you can end up applying directly through their web presence instead of sending what feels like a blind email out with your resume attached. Needless to say it's best to stay away from anything "work at home" "in your part time" "no management experience needed for this management position", and then there's the check cashing/payroll crap you need to be aware of... etc.. because if it looks too good to be true and all that. BTW I know Blondie has the down low on the legitimate work at home

So What kind of Goodies are you handing out tonight?
Riptides replied to winston1972's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I was lazy. I ended up handing out used disposable razors and an expired coupon for a free apple. -
I'll bring a truck so I can help loot the place!!

I've seen Greystone and GA Power trucks out cruising through the area and checking poles. Keep your eyes open for anything dangerous in your neighborhood and report it to your local provider. Don't need folks/kids getting hurt because of the high winds causing power lines to come down. I even watched a Greystone truck stop, the guy climb into his bucket and go up and put another isolator up on a line/pole where the old isolator was coming out of the pole. The winds today are BRUTAL, remind everyone to be careful driving as well.

Have you tried toggling the Wi/Fi Radio on the laptop via the function button? Ran into this before, there's a hardware switch that disallows the WiFi from making a connection even tho it can SEE the network on some laptops.

Do you have Greystone Power? This is VERY disturbing, indeed!
Riptides replied to subby1's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Greystone Power has constantly and consistently disappointed me with their ability to take my money from me. This is not to be confused with their outstanding ability to get my bill delivered TO me. I still believe that whomever makes the decisions there about their online presence is stuck in the "why put money into this internet billpay thing since it's obviously a fad" mindset. -
If you are able to reinstall your Win7/Vista you're more than welcome to try out Win8, but you're going to be presented with a touchscreen style interface on your large PC screen, using your mouse instead of your finger. Much of the experience requires you "swiping" your mouse across the screen edges and crap like that. This is the first Windows OS I've personally ever had ZERO desire to use, and I've been one of those who have installed every New OS from them early on, I've even been part of their beta testing experience in the past.

What I'm reading all over. Here's a few more quotes:

Even kids hate it. Just like you wouldn't ever think about using WinXP on a smartphone, NO ONE wants to use a smart phone interface on their PC. Power users and testers have all been trying to REVERT Win8 to the older start menu style with middling success since much of Win8 is built upon Win7/Vista with a new interface style. The main reason being is that Win8 finally fixes a lot of file storage issues (copying large amounts of files bogging down data read/write) that cropped up in the Vista/Win7 architecture. Uptake of Vista/Win7 has been non-existent in the enterprise (
