Jason's Press Release in the other thread is an example of the same thing. If Jason was really interested in pulling together with us and the BOC, he could have said the same thing in that release in a completely different way to indicate his willingness to work with the existing BOC if elected to achieve the goal of reducing the tax rate. Instead, he flaunts a "Do what I say" attitude and a challenge to the group that he will have to work with. Not a good indication of teamwork.

You are just full of them aren't You!! And a cute little YOUTUBE video too!! Brings back warm memories of COWA. He had a thing about YOUTUBE also. Anyway... You think five screaming guys in a council meeting would be better? Check out some of the Atlanta area BOEs for examples of that, they are losing accreditation's all over. I don't expect bobble heads, I expect five people to listen to each other, work together towards valid solutions. Five guys yelling "My way or the Highway" gets us nowhere. But I don't expect you to understand that.

Todd Pownall 6/15/2010 It's not an original idea. BTW, the "adopt a mile' program was approved at this month's BOC meeting. It'll be run by the DOT. And I don't need anyone to tell me to stop and pick up the garbage someone felt necessary to litter up and down our street. I have been involved with the community of Paulding County for 20 years. I am known for my interpersonal relationships and people skills. I have had the privilege to serve you by volunteering with several organizations and committees throughout our great county. These include: • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) review team '08-'09 • South Paulding Middle School Council '05-'07 • Paulding County High School Council '03-'05 • Planning for Paulding Committee • Paulding County Water and Sewer Board '03-'04 • Chamber of Commerce Member since 1990 • Paulding County American Cancer Society Board Member '02-'08 • Relay for Life Participant '02-'10 – Co-Chair/Chairman over event '05-'07 • Time to Build Campaign for West Ridge Church • Band Booster President & leadership positions - Paulding County High School '06-'09 • Charter Member and Vice President Paulding Board of Realtors '08-'09 • Foster Parent for Paulding County since 2004 • Donating bicycles through Helping Hands and local elementary schools to children • Sponsor of many youth sports teams since 1990 I’m Todd Pownall and I give back to the community, just like you. One of the most rewarding experiences I have had is working with the committed volunteers to raise funds for the Relay for Life event for the American Cancer Society. Relay for Life is the largest county wide fund raiser for a non-profit organization. Paulding County has been in the top ranks for dollars given per capita several times. Our efforts have proven how giving and unified our great community is. It has been an honor to serve as co-chairman and chairman over the event for three years and to have participated since 2002. I was not suprised when Todd Pawnall made the decision to not accept his salary for the first two years of his term, I almost expected him to do so, Knowing the kind of person that he is, Todd has always given back to the community. surepip
Agreed! Beverly is the best choice and this sounds like an Obamalike promise for "change". You want to revert back to King Jerry and his band of RBMDs then by all means throw your vote to Beverly. But I will say, that is one hell of a cut in pay she will be taking going from her administrative position at $65,000 a year to a post commissioner's far less take home pay. But then again, she will be able to throw the wrench into the gears for any programs David Austin wants to accomplish and be his nemisis at every turn. Enough of the old regime, let's try a new group and see what they can do for us? instead of to us!

ladybug82525
jrv4real, you need to get REAL. How dare you try to smear Todd Pownall's good name. I've known him 1st as an employee of his, then as a friend. You apparently don't have any knowledge of Todd's employement with Winn Dixie. Todd got NO SPECIAL TREATMENT from his father, in fact he HAD to hard twice as hard as other employee's to get to where he was. If you have specific information on any kind of harassment of any employee I challenge you to PM me with the details. I not only worked for him at a store, I also worked in Human Resources. I don't live in the district that Todd is running for, heck, I don't even live in Paulding County. You may ask me why I care. 1st and foremost, Todd is a very good family man and he wants only good things for the people of Paulding Co. 2nd, I have grandchildren that live in the district he's running for & I,for one will rest peacefully knowing that a top notch, God fearing person will have a say for my children and grandchildren. You are going to have to find something other than smear tactics to bring Todd Pownall down! I'm looking forward to you giving me REAL information, not speculation!! Bring it on! We cannot elect someone that was a part of the Shearin group!!
Squareroots
I have a different understanding of Todd Pownall's comments about being a steward of our neighborhoods. I think that it reflects the belief that we have a part in everything that happens. That means taking responsibility for our lives and our community. It's no secret that our homes and schools reflect the values and pride of our community. Seeing the greater good is not socialism. It is a statement of significance, i.e. to what greater good does your work contribute. His list of civic involvement displays that he has tried to build a life and community that he wants. He has not settled, or resigned himself to what he doesn't want.

I met Todd when he and Jeff Israel were the 2 guys keeping Relay for Life going all night long and when Paulding was number 1 in its population category Countrywide. Many have forgotten how we matched up against many wealthier areas around the country, but we were number 1 for several years and in the top 5 for almost a decade. Todd was responsible for alot of that, with help from a staff he motivated. It has been an interesting campaign, and we will not just have to await the results tomorrow night. Good luck to all!
